in response to people saying things like "men aren't allowed to cry in public, unlike women" other people will then say things like "women are penalized, not rewarded, for public displays of emotion—the fact that women are presumed to be overly emotional & irrational is misogyny, not a privilege"
which is often true but like, it's contextual innit. lest we discount the phenomenon of White Woman Tears
I've recently had white women in professional contexts tell me that they were quote "hurt" and "gutted" by what amounted to very minor professional faux pas on my part. I remember reading a white woman academic's essay on Jane Eyre that began with recounting her emotional upset upon having Jane Eyre "taken away from her" by postcolonial / anti-racist scholarship. white women's emotions do have currency in personal and professional spaces in selective contexts, i.e. when wielded against people of colour 🤷🏽♀️
I did it guys! I finally got him to level 10 affection! We're officially besties now XD
Anyways, here's his final CookieChat conversation (and affection line). Honestly I think it's kinda cute (and a little sad) that Elder Faerie seems self-conscious about how others view him. Like in an earlier cookiechat he was worried about coming off as arrogant, and now he's worried people see him as "stern" T_T
I think my favourite interpretation ive seen of the weird route on a more meta level is the idea that the game literally should not be able to do that, and we’re completely fucking up gasters whole plan

oh how the tables
Okay I have to make a post about this because it was the first thing I noticed and I'm going nuts.
⚠️BIG FAT SPOILER WARNING FOR CHAPTER 5⚠️
Flowery is a thousand percent trying to invoke the image of Rudy.
His smiling sprite and hairstyle are similar (though the hair is going in the opposite direction)
Claims to be Asgore's college roommate and best friend, a role that is VERY Rudy-specific
Calls him Gorey, something which we know Rudy called him from Asgore quoting him in the undertale alarm clock dialogue
And generally has the same body shape, a thing which i found most apparent viewing their sprites from the back.
This makes all the gay shit flowery does in this chapter infinitely funnier. they're laying it on real thick
I cannot believe Flowery rage baited Ralsei so hard he made him say
“I could burn you alive in an instant”
Ralsei said that, RALSEI.
Little Mr.”Oh yeah King I’ll heal you” really got to a point where he said “You’d be dead where you stand”
And then bro just responds Lamo you won’t, I can spare you, you wish you were me, and you wish you were a girl, anyways imma go fuck Kris’s dad
Truly the most character of all time
Let Papyrus say FUCK in the YEAR 2026

"Thirty men, 7.5 percent of the infected study participants, managed to obtain an effective degree of treatment, prompting [Raymond] Vonderlehr to worry that the treatment might interfere with the study data. "I hope that the availability of [penicillin] antibiotics has not interfered too much with this project," he wrote to scientist Stanley H. Schuman early in 1952...
As men began to die, the PHS performed autopsies and regularly published the results in medical journals. They even shared study results at a 1936 American Medical Association meeting, which means many white physicians were informed of the study's details- but not African American physicians, were were largely barred from AMA membership.
The 1936 AMA report revealed that 84 percent of the infected subjects showed signs of illness. A decade later, the death rate of the infected men was twice that of the control subjects, prompting [O.C.] Wenger to boast smugly in 1950, "We now know, where we could only surmise before, that we have contributed to their ailments and shortened their lives."
By 1955, nearly one-third of the autopsied men had died directly of syphilis, and many of the survivors were suffering its deadliest complications. Forty wives were infected and at least nineteen children were born with syphilitic birth defects.
In 1958, the PHS awarded a certificate of appreciation, signed by the surgeon general and replete with a gold seal, to each infected man, along with twenty-five dollars- a dollar for each year of the study."
