For the first full week of Women’s History Month, we’ll be celebrating women have broken down barriers. We call them HistoryMAKERS. 

Lena Waithe made history at last year’s 69th Emmy Awards, becoming the first Black woman to not only be nominated, but also the first to win the award for writing for a comedy series. Her acceptance speech touched on the power of representation, and the importance of being recognized as valid. 

And here she and the statue are in a more formal setting (museum or art show, I can’t tell):

It’s come to my attention that some people don’t like the pride shirts because it’s not subtle enough or aesthetic enough or genuine enough, I don’t know. 

They’re here. They’re queer. Fight me.

This doesn’t come off as a genuine celebration of queer culture.

Strength’s neckline looks odd with that pattern. There should really be a collar on it. (there should be on the king’s as well, but Strength’s is particularly bad) It looks bad, it looks hastily done, poorly thrown together, thoughtless.

The cat is tacky and a lot of the meaning in the card is lost by having it be an anime kitty. Even a chibi lion looking fierce would be a cute tie in.  (or a chibi lion whose mane is clearly attached being a fierce little trans lion)

What does the King of Swords evoke? Genericness wrapped in rainbows?

These cards are shallow.

I get that you want them to be simple and gentle, but you’ve missed the mark and gone straight into vacuous. You’ve lost all meaning.

These are dull, generic avatars.

Here’s an example of minimal, cute, positive, uplifting, simple art. It makes a powerful statement of the power of little girls to be their own saviors using just a few colors, basic shapes, and no facial detail whatsoever.

That is what your cards should be. Not that literal style, but they should mean something. They should make statements. They should be positive, empowering, and uplifting. They should evoke triumph and joy.

This fluffy, generic tripe is unremarkable and forgettable.
