Just a Note:
May 13th marked the one-year anniversary of the day my father, Jerry, underwent brain surgery to remove a stage-three cancerous tumor located in his left temporal lobe—the area of the brain that enables speech. After the six hour surgery, my mother and I didn't know what to expect. All we knew was things would never be the same, and we prayed for the best.Â
The road to recovery has been hard. We have battled through speech therapy, blood clots, pneumonia, and the start of his chemo treatment. Despite all the obstacles, we are hanging in there and his medication is keeping the very aggressive cancer at bay.
Growing up there isn't a single day I can remember that my father wasn't working hard on something. He was amazing at virtually every skill, and as his daughter who looks up to him for so much, I want to make sure we do every thing we can to get him back to that point of being independent and strong. My goal is for him to be able to do all the things he loved to do prior to the surgery; I feel he has earned that, and cancer shouldn't take that away.Â
My mother is doing an amazing job taking on the role of his care-giver. I am so proud of her and want her to know that her strength is inspiring to me and anyone going through tough times. Because of her, my father has made great progress in his recovery.Â
My parents retired to a remote, rural area. Their fixed income makes covering the mounting medical bills a challenge. All donations will go towards helping us fund my father’s recovery and continued fight against brain cancer. It will be used solely to aide in the cost of his chemo treatment, medical bills, and perscriptions.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us in this fight; family, friends, new acquaintances, and all the wonderful hospital staff that has taken care of him this past year. We are so blessed to have your love, kindness and support.
Jerry, Rosemary, Jill and RyanÂ
