Kageyama Tobio, 21 years old. On a miserably hot summer night, thunder rumbled in the distance. The threat of a storm created a blanket effect around the two of them, nearly naked and clinging, sweat sticking. Window open, but the air didn’t move, not a wisp of a breeze. Kageyama Tobio was leaving in the morning. Hinata Shoyo was staying. In the frantic final week, a speedrun had occurred. The weather building, the heat, the sparkling nights, their friends, the drinks, the grassy hill by the river. Shoyo had gotten closer and closer, and Kageyama had broken the sky like lightning. Their kisses frantic, secret. Even now, this bed - Shoyo’s apartment, as yet unoccupied. The bare mattress the only thing that had been moved in, draped with a single blanket in lieu of sheets. Kageyama held tight; afraid to look him in the eye, afraid to let go.
