Are your ancients capable of making the same range of expressions as we can, or are they limited by the structure of their mouths/facial muscles?

they can express emotions, although not as widely as we. their "mask" is thicker than the rest of their skin, but if ancient is sad or frowning, it can be noticed. also wrinkles may appear on the "mask" with age
first of all, eyes can say a lot. probably for them eyes were the most expressive thing, that's why iterators' faces only have eyes. I think they often open their mouths when expressing emotions, because when mouth is closed they cannot, for example, smile. they also have fairly mobile ears, but some prefer to have them cropped
