 The Tassili were a group of people who tried to stick around in the Sahara after it turned into a desert, but they were gone by the year 2000 BCE. Their art was found in caves inside mountains near the Sahara. This rock painting depicts a dog leaning on a woman who is breast feeding a child; this is an everyday scene. It was painted using natural pigments either with their finger or a leaf. She is depicted in a silhouette form that came to be popular in African art later down the line. 

The Taj Mahal was built in commemoration for his wife but to also show his power and greatness. 

Bazeen, an Amazigh dish usually made from barley, is a staple in Libya, and often served for lunch on Fridays. Usually it’s lamb, but there are variations, featuring camel, chicken, squid, or broad beans, and other vegetables. The classic Bazeen is made of a mix of 3 parts barley flour to 1 part wheat flour. They’re boiled in salted water to make a dough that is then formed into a round, smooth ball or dome shape and served with spicy tomato sauce, potatoes, and boiled eggs around it. 

There is no dome to this tomb, instead it is just a flat roof. The tomb is located on the upper level. There are many covered pavilions on the site which makes the illusion of the tomb being wall-less. It looks instead like a palace. 

Libya

Shorbat bil Hoot is a traditional Libyan fish soup characterized by an amazing spicy flavor. Ingredients include sea fish, onion, tomato sauce, tomato purée, garlic, salt, ground turmeric, orzo pasta, flatleaf parsley, coriander, and olive oil or ghee. Red chili peppers and kammon hoot (spice mix) are used to enrich its flavor. Served hot with bread and green salad.
