Marienburg Castle, Germany 🇩🇪
Marienburg Castle is a magnificent Neo-Gothic castle located in Lower Saxony, Germany. Built on a hill overlooking the Leine Valley, it is often called one of Germany’s most beautiful fairy-tale castles.
The castle was constructed between 1858 and 1867 by George V of Hanover as a birthday gift for his wife, Marie of Saxe-Altenburg. It served as a royal summer residence and symbolized the Kingdom of Hanover.
Shortly after its completion, the kingdom was annexed by Prussia following the Austro-Prussian War, forcing the royal family into exile. As a result, the castle was rarely used as a residence.
Today, Marienburg Castle is one of Germany’s most iconic landmarks, admired for its romantic architecture, richly decorated interiors, and panoramic views. It has also served as a filming location for movies and television productions. 🇩🇪
Howard V. Brown (1878-1945), "The Model Workers"
Brown was a really cool 1930s pulp sci-fi magazine artist. This one isn’t sci-fi, but it still might be my favorite work of his! Which is an odd thing to find myself saying, given that — as longtime readers may have noticed over the 13 years I’ve run this blog — I really like sci-fi art.
I found more info on it! It's Brown's June 1924 cover to Scientific American.
Here's a larger version of the original artwork, too.
I wonder what structure is being added here.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY (1940). Preston Sturges’ first directorial effort is a poignant comedy about a man who is tricked into believing he won a slogan contest - and whose belief ultimately makes it so.
