a little wondermagic for today c:

vex not realizing her feelings for keyleth until she sacrificed herself for her... bc nobody other than vax has ever done that, and vax HAS to do that bc they're family. vax was all she had and then here comes keyleth, making that split second decision to give up EVERYTHING for her

and then vex not being able to act on those feelings bc she KNOWS how vax feels about keyleth

so she has to settle for percy bc its the SAFE option and bc she loves kiki & vax more than anything and would rather give up her own happiness than interfere with theirs.

because what is love if not sacrifice?

and so all of that "those vines have thorns"/her weirdness towards keyleth was vex trying to come to terms with her OWN feelings. was it selfish? maybe. self-sabotaging? absolutely, but in distancing herself as so, she tries her best to take herself & her own feelings out of the equation so that the two people she loves more than anything can be happy

also keyleth having a good heart and a strong connection to nature and more than anything an almost naive HOPE & optimism about her that vex slowly lost overtime.

percy is nice and (relatively) stable and treats her well and that has to be enough (who's approval is it that she's so desperately chasing? her brother's, because she gave up a part of herself for him? is that not simply returning the favor?)

he sold his SOUL for you. only fair that you give part of yours up in turn, isn't it?
