The city was insane. Franki was versed enough in violence and gun shot and keeping herself safe, but this was mad on another level. In Seattle, she knew her way down ever street and could find any safe place to hide. Gunshots were one of the first things she’d remembered hearing; they didn’t frighten her, but the very real possibility of being shot did. In trying to duck off the street as everyone seemed to be doing, she almost got hit by a car in the process. “Selfish asshole.” She ground out as she ducked off to the side. It fascinated her on some level, watching people fight for their lives. It made her thankful that she was from a life of quasi-normalcy. Impulse had always been something that got to her when her heart was racing and there wasn’t enough rational thought to keep  her emotions in check. He wasn’t far off and she could see that he did not look prepared. “You’re better off running now before you get shot down.” The words were loud enough for him to hear, or so she assumed because they echoed in her ears at a deafening decibel and Franki winced at her stupidity. He could kill her if he waned to and now she was sure she’d attracted his attention.
A woman's voice reached him in the pause between deafening gunshots. Was she serious right now? "That's kind of out of the question at the moment!" he growled in response as another flurry of bullets roared over his head. Several hit the car and Armand knew the gunmen's plan in an instant. Without hesitation, he launched himself forward, away from the vehicle, whose hood had begun to smoke. The bullets were aimed his way once again---why were they so intent on killing him when there were so many easy targets running by?---and he darted in a zigzag pattern in an attempt to escape them. The bodyguard's luck couldn't hold out forever, and he felt a sudden pressure----not pain---in his left shoulder. One glance at the wounded area revealed that a bullet had pierced straight through him, exiting cleanly under his collarbone. There was no expression of surprise or agony on Armand's stony features, despite the blood which now decorated his ruined leather jacket. He simply dove behind a truck a split second before his vehicle exploded where he had abandoned it. All of this happened in a matter of seconds, and Armand pressed his back against the truck as he glanced over to see the woman nearby. "You enjoying the show?" he barked at her with a furrowed brow.
Random Edit - 245/?
The sedan's tires squealed loudly as Armand took a sharp left turn and stepped on the gas. He almost clipped the pedestrians who were sprinting across the street amidst the chaos, but he swerved out of the way at the last second. With a curse, he straightened the car's path and was met with a line of patriots all firing on him at once. They blocked the street with an overturned truck and Armand had no choice but to slam hard on the breaks, allowing him to swing the rear of the car around and crash into four of the gunmen. He threw himself against the door and scrambled out of it once the car came to a standstill. Several more bullets whizzed by overhead. He was trapped, but this fight was far from over. The bodyguard reached for his pistol and flicked the safety. Some backup firepower would be useful right about now...

“I have one signature to place and then we can get dinner.” Ricardo looked up at his friend before opening one of the files, reading it through first. “I’ve barely seen you around, I’m starting to get tired of Alonso, when are you coming back to work as my bodyguard?”
A faint smirk of amusement appeared on his features for a brief moment. "I'll always be working as your bodyguard, Ricardo. Someone has to take care of you 24/7," he joked as he walked forward to rest his hands against the back of a cushioned chair.

“I’m here! And I brought an extra set of hands.”
“Hey you, wasn’t sure if you were gonna have time to show or not.”
Noemi looked up, raising a brow. “Well if it isn’t mister president..well not yet, but you get the idea. An extra hand? or ten?” She asked, pouring the lemonade into a glass. “Because I might need more lemons.” She concluded.Â
"Just the one," Armand replied, stepping up beside Ricardo and shoving his hands in his pockets. "Hey," he greeted the two women with an easy smile.
“Then everything is set in place? Good.” Eyes cast up from his phone call as a dark silhouette was cast upon the wall near him. “I’ll speak to you later about the details.” He closed the conversation, ending the call before he turned to face his visitor. “Did Aryana let you in?”
Armand cleared his throat before he responded. “Yes. I know I’m technically off, but I thought I’d help you out a bit longer before I left for the day. Unless you’re finished and want to grab a bite?” He raised his eyebrows and leaned against the doorframe.
Arina nodded, happy that he thought it would be fun as well. She had a very story-book view of what the zoo would be like. She’d never gone. It wasn’t that she hadn’t been allowed to, it was just that her family had done other things. She hadn’t realized how much of her life was spent in the penthouse until then. There were many days when she never left the confides of the house. She was educated in the house, she slept there, she had a play room and she wasn’t allowed to go to sleepovers or anything like that. Guests came to the penthouse, not the other way around. She had never felt trapped there, it was big and always full of something new, but now that she was away from home, she was beginning to notice how restricted her childhood had been.Â
The brunette laughed, “I’m sure the last thing you expected was to go on a date with me, but I’m glad it’s a good surprise for you. I’ve never been to the zoo, so I thought it would be fun. Mary Jane says I have to see the lions–apparently they’re the best, but my favorite animal is an elephant. What about you?” She asked. She wanted to get to know him, even if it was simple things, like his favorite animal. In many ways, Arina’s ability to make friends was that of a child’s. She expected to share favorite animals and that would be enough to consider one another friends. It was another problem of her upbringing. Her friends were chosen for her. She’d never had to make them herself. She wasn’t allowed to.Â
Her enthusiasm was endearing and Armand found himself thinking of a child-like persona. Not in a bad way; in fact, it was refreshing to be able to interact with someone who wouldn't bring up the subject of killings, tortures, mutilations, or other atrocious criminal activities. It was a bit disheartening that the bodyguard found such a bright personality as Arina's rare---that showed the kind of world Armand lived in. Still, something about the way she spoke so brightly and cheerily nudged at some faint memory which he kept hidden away in the back of his mind. There was something almost familiar about Arina, which was surprising, seeing as Armand had never really spoken much with her before the auction.
He shrugged and pondered for a moment. This was a question he had never been asked and he wasn't exactly sure how to respond, simple as it was. "Can't really say I know which animals they have, as I've never been to the zoo either. But I'm a cat person, so I'll stick with that suggestion and see what all the fuss is with those lions." He could have laughed at himself. Talking about favorite animals when there were dozens of assassins out there targeting Ava. He chewed on his lip, brow furrowing for a split second as that familiar weight settled in his stomach. Nerves, fear, or both, it would be a struggle to relax. But he would try.
Arina was excited. She’d never been to the zoo, not once in her life, and she was eager to see it. She’d seen pictures, virtual tours online, but she’d never been up to the fence when a lion roamed around. She’d dressed quite simply but still very feminine. She’d tucked a shirt with a peter pan collar into a skirt, the look effortless and flowy. She’d paired her outfit with comfortable flats that wouldn’t give her blisters when walking. The weather was still quite cool, so she grabbed a sweater as well as she headed out to the car. She was admittedly a little disappointed that he hadn’t gotten out of the car to meet her, but she figured he was taking care of his little son. She didn’t let the smile falter from her lips for even a moment as she climbed into the car. “Good morning.” She greeted cheerfully.Â
She turned her head, her smile growing when she saw Enzo. She turned back to Armand. “He’s so sweet, I hope he enjoys today too.” She admitted. She reached back, gently covering him more with the blanket, her fingers gentle, almost loving. She adored children, even if she didn’t really know what to do with them. She settled back in the seat, pulling her belt over, ready to go. “Are you excited?” She asked, hoping that he might be.Â
Was he? As sad as it might be, Armand hadn’t really been excited by much, ever. Save for the arrival of his son, which was based on fear and nerves more than anything, that joyful feeling of looking forward to a new experience such as this was rather foreign to him. He had never been to the zoo; his father never would have let them, had they asked. The drunkard would instead have forced Armand and his sister to bring him another case of beer from the basement and return there when they were done. The all too-familiar anger which festered within Armand threatened to boil up for a moment, but the sight of Arina pulling Enzo’s blanket more snuggly around the baby fought back the dark thoughts.
A faint smile tugged up at the corners of his lips as he replied, “Yeah, should be fun.” He shifted the car into drive and slipped his black sunglasses on before maneuvering the sedan out past the security gates once more. As they hit the streets and made their way to the zoo not fifteen minutes away, Armand spoke up. "I don't know what I was expecting heading into that auction, but I didn't think I'd be on the way to a zoo today. It's a nice surprise," Armand smiled and glanced Arina's way.

He watched her carefully as she spoke, his steely blue gaze softening somewhat as he listened. It definitely was the luck of the draw that she was the one who “won” him. Despite the lingering sense of discomfort and annoyance he’d felt upon being selected as a bachelor, he now supposed the so-called date wouldn’t be so terrible as he had imagined. Arina was a nice girl, as far as he’d seen. Her consideration of his son and his own comfort proved his belief correct. “That isn’t ridiculous, Arina. Cheesy? Maybe.” He smiled faintly, letting her know he wasn’t serious. “But it sounds like a good plan to me. I just won’t let you pay for yourself, seeing as that was part of the deal. I could drive you home if you’d like?” He glanced around them at the milling people and shrugged. “Unless you’d like to stick around for a bit.”
Arina smiled, pleased that he seemed comfortable with her. She imagined it could have been very awkward for him, especially if his date was a complete stranger. She’d at least talked to him before, waved to him as she busied herself cleaning. She wasn’t exactly his best friend, but they weren’t complete strangers either.Â
She laughed, her cheeks flushing when he agreed that it might be cheesy. “Well, I’m glad you don’t think it’s ridiculous, and cheesy is good, so I’ve done something right.” She smiled. She nodded, “Alright, if you’re sure.” She added. She glanced around, considering it, and nodded. “Sure, I’d like that.” She agreed. She liked parties and events, but she wanted to go home and change. Plus, they’d have a busy day tomorrow, and she wanted to get some sleep. His offer to drive her home was much appreciated. Walking home alone or taking a cab had become a source of anxiety for her, she felt safer with someone taking her. And, protection was his job, after all.Â
{ time skip } Armand drove past security and pulled up to the Cess mansion the next morning, the baby dozing in the car seat behind him. He glanced at himself in the rearview mirror, his attire somewhat strange for a politician’s bodyguard who spent most days looking proper and presentable in a black suit. The black v-neck t-shirt, topped by a simple gray hoodie, along with the jeans and sneakers, made him feel young again. He could take a breather today, put aside all his worries regarding work, and he would come home to Ava, relaxed after a much-needed vacation. This could be a good day, so long as the flashbacks wouldn’t haunt him for the duration of this date. A faint cry from Enzo distracted him from his thoughts and he reached over to give his son a pacifier. Movement outside caught his attention and he sat facing forward once more. Had this been a real date, he would have done the proper thing and stepped out to open the passenger side door for the lady. He settled for pressing the unlock button and waited patiently for Arina to enter.
He turned at the sound of a familiar voice and sighed in relief when he recognized Arina. “I’m just glad I won’t have to drag myself through the torture of small talk with a stranger. We can get right to it—where do have your heart set on going?”
Arina relaxed some when he didn’t seem completely disappointed in who had bid on him. She nodded, “Absolutely, no small talk necessary.” She promised. She thought for a minute, “Well, I know you have your son to think about..so my first thought was a picnic. I could cook and bring food and you wouldn’t really be paying for anything that I can think of. But, a picnic could be quite awkward, we’d have to find something to talk about.” She teased. “So my second thought was the zoo. We could go tomorrow morning, and if you’d like you could bring your son. I wouldn’t mind. I know this isn’t a real date-date.” She admitted, her cheeks flushing. “We could go, the three of us, the animals have started to come out more and the zoo’s open for the season now, and the early-season passes are much less expensive, I think your son would get in free because of his age, and I can pay for my own.” She promised. “We could go look at the animals, maybe get lunch at the zoo, they have the best food.” She admitted, smiling some. “Unless you think that’s cheesy and ridiculous. I know it’s supposed to be what I want, but I want us both to have a nice day.” She explained.Â
Arina smiled warmly, excitement filling her. She felt good being charitable, and she was looking forward to a fun night out. “Armand? I know this is probably unexpected, I hope you’re not too disappointed though.” She offered.Â
He turned at the sound of a familiar voice and sighed in relief when he recognized Arina. "I'm just glad I won't have to drag myself through the torture of small talk with a stranger. We can get right to it---where do have your heart set on going?"
“Regardless of your intentions, no one is authorized up here without proper identification.”
“I’m the guard who's going to have to ask you to leave this room—follow me.”
“A guard? Okay do I really look that threatening, I mean the only person I could probably cause harm to is myself and thats on accident I swear.”
“That’s all well and good, lady, but considering recent events, even the birds can’t be trusted in this city, no matter how innocent they may seem. So don’t blame me for being wary of a stranger I just found in a room that’s supposed to be closed off to visitors, alright?”
“…The hell are you doing in here?”
“– Oops. Must have taken a wrong turn.”
“Must have. If you have a meeting with Signore de Rossi, you need to wait downstairs. This area is for private use only."

“…The hell are you doing in here?”
“Working? What are you doing in here?”
"Making sure you weren't a prowler. I just relieved the previous guard and he neglected to mention that you were up here. The idiot..."
“…The hell are you doing in here?”
“Being..incredibly lost, apparently.”
“Right. Well, you’re lucky I know the way out of here. C'mon.” Armand gestured for her to follow.
