The word in question, «قِبْلِيِّ» or 'qiblī', literally means "from the Qiblah." That is, literally "from the direction of the Ca3bah," otherwise transliterated as either 'Kaabah' or 'Ka`bah.' The Ca3bah is that stone building covered by a large black cloth —located in Meccah— towards which we Muslims pray.
And no, the studio have produced no Islamic-themed stories or characters ever either.
From what I understand the Ca.309 was named specifically after the Libyan Arabic name for the sirocco hot desert wind (قبلي or “qibliyy”, Westernized to “ghibli”). The direction the wind blows from is from the direction of the Kaaba.
The name was chosen by Miyazaki out of his passion for aircraft and for the idea that the studio would "blow a new wind through the anime industry".
I doubt he ever looked into the actual transliteration.
I mask so I don't get punished for being autistic. I'm terrified of confrontation to my own detriment, I know this, but that doesn't change the fact that I would rather pretend to be something else while out and about than deal with people yelling at me.

"Into the Woods" poll: Who is "the woman who regrets having had children" whom Sondheim said was partly based on his own mother?
The Witch
The Baker's Wife
Jack's Mother
Rapunzel
Other
Remaining time: 3 days 9 hours
Stephen Sondheim once admitted that Into the Woods contains a little of his own childhood. According to an article linked on Wikipedia, he claimed that the character of "a father uncomfortable with babies" was his father and that the character of "a mother who regrets having had children" was his mother. But he didn't name the specific characters.
Now, obviously, the "father uncomfortable with babies" is the Baker. His insecurity about helping his wife take care of their son, and his doubt in his ability to parent alone after his wife dies, are central to his character arc in Act II. But which character in this musical is the "mother who regrets having had children"? All the mother characters are flawed in their own ways, and some extremely so, but none of them ever explicitly say that they regret having had their child.
Sondheim famously had a terrible relationship with his mother. In interviews, he described her as an "overbearing, grasping, voracious" woman, who both loved and hated him, and who bluntly told him that her one regret in life was having given birth to him. So, which of the mothers in Into the Woods is she?
The Witch: Now, she never says that she regrets having adopted Rapunzel, and she obviously does love her desperately. The fact that she sincerely loves her is something that sets her apart from other, more straightforwardly evil versions of her character like Disney's Mother Gothel. But still, no other character in this musical better fits the description of an "overbearing, grasping, voracious mother," and even though she loves Rapunzel, it's clearly a selfish, emotionally abusive love. She isolates her from the world, supposedly to protect her but just as much to avoid having to "share" her with anyone, then banishes her to a desert when she finally dares to love someone besides the Witch (although she insists it was meant to be only a temporary exile, just until Rapunzel "learned her lesson"), and tries to put a curse on her when she won't come back to her afterwards, only failing because she's lost her powers. And while in Act II she tries to protect her from the Giantess and is devastated by her death, she still takes no responsibility for how she wronged Rapunzel, but blames the dead Rapunzel for never listening to her, and bitterly declares that "Children can only grow from something you love to something you lose." Maybe in that line, we can read the subtext of "I regret having adopted a child." But again, she never says it outright.
The Baker's Wife: Well, since the Baker is the character partly based on Sondheim's father, it would make sense for the Baker's Wife to be based on Sondheim's mother. And while her entire motive in Act I is to have a child, in the opening scene of Act II we see that it hasn't brought her the endless joy she thought it would. Having to actually raise the baby is stressful, especially because her insecure husband never helps her take care of him: this stress is undoubtedly part of what leads to her fling with Cinderella's Prince later on. And in the song "So Happy," she's a part of the ensemble who sings "Wishes may bring problems, such that you regret them..." But in the very next lines, she reaffirms (possibly trying to convince herself?) how happy she is to have gotten her wish, and insists that she's "going to be the perfect mother." She never outright says that she regrets having a baby or shows any resentment toward her son (just a little toward her husband). And while she obviously has her flaws and morally gray areas, she's certainly not "overbearing, grasping, voracious." In interviews, Sondheim insisted that the Baker's Wife was meant to be the sympathetic heart of the musical, and that her death is supposed to be devastating to the audience... not, as some critics assume, a punishment for her adultery with the Prince. It seems hard to reconcile his sympathy for her with the negative feelings he always expressed about his mother.
Jack's Mother: Well, she is overbearing, and she complains constantly about her son's stupidity. But at the same time she loves and protects him fiercely and never implies that she regrets having had him.
Rapunzel: Hmmm... She barely even acknowledges her own baby twins, except to cite having had to give birth to them alone in the desert as one of the traumas the Witch inflicted on her.
For now, I'm most tempted to think the Witch is the character Sondheim was talking about. But I suppose a case could be made for the Baker's Wife, or maybe for one of the other mothers. I'm not sure...
I feel like Rapunzel is probably one of the most important fairy tales in Into the Woods. It's the story that causes all other stories to happen. Even the subplot of the Baker and his wife is just a consequence of prologue of Rapunzel.
She's like a tragic dark reflection of the Baker. While the Baker wants to have children more than anything but can't, Rapunzel just wants to be free from the Witch, and is basically forced to bear twins that she doesn't care at all.
In some versions of the show, the characters kill the Giantess in her empty tower.
In many ways, Rapunzel haunts the narrative of Into the Woods even if she herself has a smaller role.
And I can see Sondheim turning his absent and abusive mother into this dark deconstruction of a fairy tale princess who haunts every other story of this crossover.

My favorite shoes in the winter are my Manitobah mukluks, which are Metis-owned and participate heavily in community initiatives with other indigenous nations to train and support artists. They also partner regularly with artists from other nations on their shoes to create custom editions. Currently they are collaborating with Rosa Scribe (Cree), Janae Grass (Sac & Fox), Atheana Picha (Salish), and Melissa Peter-Paul (Mi'kmaw). They also host an indigenous market that showcases and promotes indigenous artists.
Plus they're warm as hell and the sheepskin lining means I don't have to wear socks, which is extremely nice sensory comfort. So that's nice as well.
Eighth Generation (Snoqualmie Tribe) has some beautiful stuff - I've bought a huge beautiful beach towel and cool socks from them personally, but they have jewelry, art, housewares, lots of great work.

If people are leaving Wattpad because of the censorship, then coming to AO3 only to beg for censorship what's the point? It’s called Archive of Our Own for a reason, it is ours. For us and by us.
Because apparently it needs to be spelled out, I’m writing out some of the unwritten rules of AO3:
Don't like, don't read - you can have your own opinions but if you don't like it just scroll past, it's that easy. Let it be.
Read. The. Tags. - the tags are warnings of what the story will include. That is your guide. If there is something you're not comfortable with in the tags then scroll past. The AO3 tagging system is genius and lets you filter out the things you don’t like, so you don’t even have to see the stories you might not be comfortable with if you don’t want to. Use the tags.
Do not spread the stories outside of fandom spaces - fanfiction is for the fans. Especially when it’s RPF it is not to be referenced or brought up to the people who it is about. They are all very aware that it is made but that doesn’t mean they want to read it or know about it. I don’t care what you say, it is unavoidable and as long as it is not widespread and stays in its own space it is not harmful. It is up to the fans to respect that. (That being said if the people who the RPF fics are about search them up or reference fics themselves that’s a bit different and the rules change a bit.)
Respect the authors - the authors spend their own time writing stories, many of which are genuinely incredibly written and well thought out, for absolutely nothing in return. You get to read pieces of work for free by authors who are doing it for free. Do not go to the comments and complain or say they should have done something else or report because they wrote something you’re not comfortable with. And respect the authors wishes when they say not to share their work anywhere else.
Basically just respect fandom spaces, keep them separate from reality, and mind your own business. It’s so easy.
It’s a very under-appreciated thing to have an archive where people can put their work out for the world to see and make art that can be appreciated and easily accessed by other people on a wide scale, and it needs to be protected.

I don't know if you people know this, but the Brazilian government struck Discord's ability to have live streams for a while.
It seems that the First Lady outright wants Discord banned saying it doesn't do enough to protect children. This happened after a 13 year old killed herself after being encouraged by a Discord channel.
But as critics are saying, the stream wasn't even aired on Discord. It was an Instagram live that was also aired on Discord, but Discord became the main scapegoat, especially around frightened parents, and the discourse around it is so toxic.
Like, yeah, we need more government regulation, and children need to be more protected online, but what the government is proposing is almost akin to government surveillance.
Over all the world we are seeing more and more intense regulations that not only fail at their goal to take away social media companies impunity, but take away more and more people's rights to anonymity, and freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
Why do I have to give my iD to social media companies? Why do basic terms like murder, suicide, genocide, have to be constantly censored, even we talking about seriously topics? Why is nudity and sex content constantly censored even in sites that at least in theory shouldn't be available for minors? Why do I need to constantly censor myself just because of the vague hope that a child may be in places where they don't belong?
And I hate how this discourse is exposing people who aren't Left wing, just opportunists supporters of the current administration.
Right now the Brazilian government and its supporters are going "If you are against this, you are just a fascist and a right wing supporter" or that "Don't you care for children's safety", and honestly, this is such a disgusting way to silence opposition to a stupid idea.
Fuck Discord. Fuck social media companies. We need more regulations, of course, but this hysteric, government overreach, this insane censorship it's absurd.
Why exactly is this Discord's problem? If it was my kid, she'd have company in the ground as I took my own life for failing so completely and monumentally as a parent. And when it comes to streaming, I feel like Twitch TOS got this right:
If you are between 13 (or the minimum age) and the age you legally become an adult where you live, you can only use Twitch if your parent or guardian is supervising you and agrees to this contract.
Sure, there's kids under 13 using it, and I'm sure the majority over 13 never have parental supervision. But that's because they have shitty parents. It's not Twitch's, or Discord's or Instagram's fault that you don't care about your kids. It's not their fault you are allowing your kids to expose themselves to harm and then acting accordingly. And it's not your kid's fault either, because they're a kid. It's yours.
Look, social media companies have many, many crimes they need to account for. They are run by immoral people who knowingly and intentionally try to make their product addictive even if that makes the experience worse for users. But that's not an excuse to blame them for stuff that isn't actually their fault. They didn't leave your child unattended and unsupervised, you did. Own the fuck up to it.
I swear, this whole Discord thing has made my blood boil recently.
This is a long rant
Mind you, the girl didn't kill herself just on Discord. She killed herself on a Instagram live that was also aired on Discord.
Why is this Discord's fault? Simple, because the whole thing became a moral panic and culture war issue and the government needed someone to blame, and it was easier to go after Discord than any of the large social media companies.
Now Janja, our first lady, wants to BAN Discord from the country. Not just fine them, or penalize them, but to BAN the app from the country. The current administration is arguing that Discord is just too dangerous for children and teenagers. Supporters of the current administration are going after people who were against the ban, calling them pedophilles and criminals. On social media they are calling all Discord users "pedophilles", "nazis", and "fascists" and that the app must be banned.
I had to read on big newspapers that according to analysts, cybersecurity, cyber anonymity, and freedom of expression were LESS IMPORTANT than protecting children and teenagers.
Meanwhile me, a tax paying, working adult, need to lose a platform I innocently use to hang out with friends, be treated by the governm as a criminal, and deal with stupid fear based legislation that ask me to give even more of my personal data to big data, just to "protect the children".
I'm not even against legislating social media companies or penalize Discord, but I feel like me and many other users are being unfarly penalize with a vague "Won't someone please think of the children" reason.
What kills me is the smugness and self-righteousness of the current administration. "We are right, we won't listen to you, and if you disagree with us, you're just a right winger."
Mind you, we will gone have national elections in just a few months. I'm a Leftist. I voted for Lula, our current president. I won't vote for some right wing just because Discord, especially since the current Right just want to sell Brazil to Trump. There's too much at stake. But I hate how a center-left administration, because even Lula himself told that he wasn't Left-wing, transformed a policy issue into a moral panic and a culture war issue, and then are acting like they have a moral hight ground and everyone that is againts the measure is evil.
Fuck, the right winger assholes are already propagadizing young people, saying the Lula administration took away what they liked dearly and is calling them pedophilles for simply speaking out against it. And technically it's true.
Why am I, a working adult need to be constantly penalized and censored because some asshole parents can't control their children online? We will loose even more of our online privacy rights just because some folks think setting up 1984 is easier than just paying attention to what their children are getting themselves into.
And what makes me more mad is that is not like we don't need a few more internet regulations. Currently we have bet sites sponsoring everything from Insta influencers, soccer teams, and even big network channels, and the Lula administration refuses to do anything about it. It's statistically proven that the Brazilian people are getting into collosal debts because of debts from bets. People are killing themselves because of it. Each week has a new report about it. But the government won't do anything because these bet sites movement a lot of money. And it's easier to go into a cynical "Protect the children" bullshit that won't challenge the big players and that will make a lot of firghtened parents feel better about themselves.
I understand, honestly I do, because if the 2000 US election had gone just very slightly different and Gore had become president instead of Bush, then our first lady would have been Tipper Gore, who was already infamous long before then for being pro-censorship and running a moral panic crusade against musicians. It doesn't matter who we vote for here anymore than it matters who you vote for in Brazil, because even if it's not part of the politician's platform, it could be a pet cause for their spouse or some other unelected person in their immediate family.
But the thing is... this happened long before social media. One of the girls I knew when I was eleven back in the 90s was bullied at school and ultimately took her own life. Sure, she didn't livestream the event, but only because the tools didn't exist at the time. And did her death cause an uproar? No, there was a single announcement at school and then that was it. Nobody took her death as a cause to do something about bullying, and it's self-evident that nobody has done that with this girl either - they want to ban Discord, not do something about the actual bullying.
Because that's the real issue: they don't give a flying fuck about the girl who is dead, they care about being confronted with her death. They want to go back to when she died alone and unobserved, discovered hours later and mourned privately. Banning the entire Internet won't stop more children from being bullied to the point of suicide, but getting rid of these livestreaming sites might keep the politicians from having to look at the result.
I will conclude with Eartha Kitt's message to another first lady, which was considered so 'shocking' that she ended up blacklisted and had her career significantly curtailed. There's not a single lie in it, nor a single rude word, but it confronted that first lady with the ugly truth of her husband's policies:
You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. They rebel in the streets. They will take pot, and they will get high. They don’t want to go to school, ’cause they’re going to be snatched off from their mothers to be shot in Vietnam.
The problem wasn't that we were sending children to die in Vietnam while killing innocent people who had done no wrong to us, the problem was publicly pointing this out to the wife of the monster who was doing so. Likewise here, the problem isn't the suicide, it's the visibility, and if anyone confronts you about this issue, maybe you now have something to say that will shame them. But don't expect to be loved for having done so, because they will hate you showing how ugly they look in a mirror.
A lot of "Think of the children!" is actually "Think of the parents!" Similarly, the campaign to keep any mention of gender or sexuality issues out of schools isn't because of any harm to the children; it's because the parents don't want to have to talk about these topics with their children. It would be awkward and uncomfortable for them.
Even more than that, it's "look at these out of control children - we need to exert control."
The "think of the children" is obviously just to induce a moral panic. The "parents' rights" is a fig leaf-shaped dog whistle used to distract from the fact that this control is actually being taken by the government.
I'm a parent. But I'm also neurodivergent and nonbinary. So I can tell you from experience that absolutely nobody gives a shit what I think when it comes to parents' rights. Just like at every other level, the only ones listened to are those saying what the right wants to hear.
