Damn, maybe it had been a while since sheād drank anything other than coffee. Originally, the blonde had offered to give Alice the day to do researchāhonestly, sheād probably gotten tired of Alice incessantly Googling things about the fire every fucking waking moment. Sheās going to get tired of you. Would you stop? At first, the idea of having the day to herself to do research seemed like a good idea but she couldnāt deny the sheer relief she felt now that Ariel was here.Ā Have you gotten up at all? Had anything to eat? You want me to get you something? Normally, Alice would say no but seeing the worried look in Arielās eyes, sheād probably throw a fit if she insisted that she was fineābesides, come to think of it, when was the last time sheād eaten?ā¦
Shaking her head, still holding onto Arielās hand, she saidĀ āHonestly, I donāt even remember when I last ateā¦ I guess I could use some food..ā Almost begrudgingly, she shut her laptop and looked over at her girlfriend.Ā āIām sorry. I know I havenāt been much fun to be around lately, I justā¦ I donāt know where Cy is and weird shit keeps happening around here, andā¦ Ariel, something is going on. And I know I sound like a crazy fucking conspiracy theorist,ā and letās face it, she was, especially when she got around her twin brother,Ā āButā¦somethingās very wrong here. And I just.. Is that stupid?ā¦ā Normally, Alice wouldnāt look to others for reassuranceāat least, not anymoreāhowever, sheād been so out of it these past few days and the more she looked into the odd happenings around here, the more questions she hadāand now, she had far more questions than answers and it was driving her crazy. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā She could tell Alice was sort of dancing around what was really on her mind, so she was more than happy to give her a little bit of space to compose herself. Gratefully, though, Alice still reaches out for her and sheās able to give her hand a quick squeeze. She couldnāt even imagineĀ the kind of stress that Alice was under; it was stressful enough for Ariel and she wasnāt directly involved in the case. Except through Alice, of course. She had been spending her time sitting on the couch, goggling everything possible, trying to find every angle on the situation -- Ariel had figured some fresh air would do her some good, but she knew better than to leave her alone for an excessive amount of hours when she barely even ate at home,Ā let alone while she was out. Before she can get up and grab some food, Alice stops her and finally lets out what she had been thinking. The blonde didnāt find it crazy -- just the opposite, she was probablyĀ right, there was very likely to be something weird working behind the scenes. After all, Ariel was in one of the sketchiest industries on the planet, sheād seen it all.Ā āNo, thatās not stupid. Your mind is working a thousand miles a minute. If anyone knows this case, itās you.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Thereās a pause; Ariel looks around them to make sure no one is listening, and then sheās moving her chair so that sheās sitting next to Alice. She was no cop but sheād avoided enough in her life that she knew how to keep an eye out for anyone suspicious who was lurking in the background. Everyone seemed way too occupied by their own thing to notice the two of them. Once sheās sitting next to her, she leans in a bit so she can talk to her.Ā āHow about this. We get you something to eat, we take a walk and get some fresh air, and then we can come back at this with a fresh perspective. The office in my house hasnāt been used in years, but itās the perfect spot where we can try and figure this out. Thereās a white board and everything.ā She smiles slightly, trying to be reassuring. She wasnāt thinking that Alice was crazy or anything like that, she was thinking that Alice was scaredĀ and overtiredĀ and needed to take a moment or two to take a deep breath before coming back to this.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āYou donāt worry for a second if youāve been funĀ to be around, okay? Some things are more important.ā She wonders if sheās coming on too strong but she canāt find it in herself to care about that part too much. She leans over, pressing a kiss to the side of Aliceās head, hoping to bring her back to reality a little bit so she could hear what sheās saying. She might have a connection or two she can try and hunt down, but she isnāt going to do that yet; her priority is to make sure Alice is taken care of before they pursue this any further, the last thing she wants is to overwork her and then they have another problem on their hands.Ā āLook, whatever this is, weāll figure it out together. Iām not going anywhere. But you have to eat and drink water and shit, alright? Weāre no use to anyone if weāre passing out. You want a sandwich?ā
