Three years after the No Gun Ri massacre, on July 27, 1953, the Korean War ceasefire was signed after the US failed to defeat the anti-imperialist North Korean army and was forced to surrender.
The US exterminated 20% of North Korea's population—2.5 million Koreans—by dropping over 635,000 tons of bombs and 32,000 napalm bombs, destroying 75% of Pyongyang (the North Korean capital). They also used biological weapons and even had plans to use atomic bombs... but remember, the "bad guys" and the "crazy ones" today tell you it is North Korea that is to blame for arming itself.
After the ceasefire, the US refused to allow the reunification of Korea, just as it had done in Germany, in order to maintain military bases against China (driven by its morbid anti-communist obsession) and plunder the country's resources, establishing a division along the 38th parallel north that persists to this day.
It is worth remembering that at the end of 1948, Stalin, in a gesture of respect for Korea's right to self-determination, sovereignty, and independence, withdrew all his troops from North Korea and urged the US to do the same in the south to reunify the country. The US refused and stated that it would not abandon the south under any circumstances; in fact, it would later attempt to invade the rest of the country.
Since 1948, day after day, the South Korean army—a puppet of the US—carried out terrorist incursions along North Korea's border. From 1949 to April 1950 alone, US-backed troops conducted 1,274 incursions into North Korean territory... this was the trigger for the war.
If Korea remains divided, it is the fault of the US, which will never relinquish this geopolitical military enclave. Previously, they used the excuse that it was due to the threat posed by the USSR and Mao's China, which no longer exist, yet they continue to keep the country divided for their own imperialist interests.
And indeed, in South Korea today, the United States maintains its largest military base in the world, Camp Humphreys, with 45,000 troops, just 100 kilometers from the North Korean border.
