I have never made packaging before so I will be researching into how to through the means of illustrator and photoshop.

Time to start making!! 5mm tubing acquired to start constructing bracelets with. Off to B&Q (the handiest place in the world) to try and acquire some type of fastenings or sealant. I sometimes seem to underestimate the importance of immersing yourself in materials and processes to problem-solve solutions. Time to get making!

Wool does not seem like the first material to come to mind but it's properties make it an ideal creative material for use in a hospital environment. It is said in this article that wool is not known to cause any allergic reactions so I must research exactly what it is that causes reactions in people who wear woolen jumpers and accessories.

"We may need to find ways of keeping interesting play material within reach of a child with limited mobility, or providing materials that are responsive to whatever the child can initiate, for example, toys which reward saving a practical mechanical task with a funny noise or a flashing light" - Could i possibly create a toy/bracelet which is multifunctional? Could it have interconnecting pieces similar to the magnetised play pieces, for children in isolation, below? Could it have lights or noises?

An excellent article I found when searching the Internet for young people's opinions on cancer care in hospitals. We are unable to speak to patients in the RACH and I feel that blogs would be an honest and instantaneous approach to gathering invaluable information.

I left the hospital today feeling that a holistic approach to the design process may be the most beneficial, although I have been asked to focus on my specialism for 4th year, which is jewellery (wearables). I would certainly need to speak to patients, or research patient feedback, if I was going to stick to my specialist subject.

A hobby-horse can be used to analyse how much pain a child is in. If the child can climb on the horse but is complaining of a sore ankle then the pain cannot be that excruciating. I walked past one kid who said 'Oh my goodness, wowee, I love this mummy!' :)

I think these trees are a wonderful idea and this concept could be utilised throughout the hospital.

These rooms have become particularly dated. The curtains and screen could be simplified but they are aware of this. The chair that Sierra is sat on is very tiny! They would need to be more suitable for both children and adults.

The A+E department Is quite nice although I feel that a barrier would benefit the children's waiting area. There is a set of automatic doors right beside this area and the children have a tendency to want to run out of them! Beanbags may be a good idea in the teenager section. Shelving is a nice idea, it's not often you see shelving at all in hospitals and their homely connotation would possibly be a welcome addition?

There are also not many private spaces in the hospital itself and privacy can sometimes be of the utmost importance.
