is anyone else annoyed that "ai" encompasses both chatgpt and tools we train to do repetitive tedious work for us. and by the ripple effect of articles like "scientists develop ai to detect cancer early" that make people argue for the merit of chatgpt or become anti-medicine. and by the general state of the world and society

and honestly it's just fucking insane that every time we try to talk about harm to children in particular we have to talk circles around the fact that these things are very, very overwhelmingly done by parents/family members/teachers/religious leaders/known and trusted adults in a position of power over a child, to the extent that many people's suggested solution to child abuse is "give the people most likely to abuse a child EVEN MORE strangling legal and material power over the kid"

you're not supposed to actually address who is abusing children and what can be done to give those children recourse and the ability to leave abusive situations because nobody actually gives a shit about child abuse beyond the familial property rights violation it represents to them and the cudgel against minorities which it can be turned into

I love the acronyms afaik and iirc because they allow me to accurately represent the fact that I don’t have a lot of confidence in my memory and that I am not claiming my statements are objective facts because i am a fallible being. This is, of course, really silly to feel the need to list as a caveat all the time, that’s the presumed default state of any statements made in general unless specified otherwise, most people don’t feel the need to attach an asterisk to everything they say to tell people to take it with a grain of salt, but I am an autistic woman who hates lying and unintentionally spreading misinformation so I get worried someone will interpret something I say casually without verifying as fact and then will come back to me all upset when they find out I was wrong
