walledoffheartâ:
âIâm not a child, Alexander. I donât need you to threaten anyone on my behalf. I made the trade.â
He was still angry. But he was tired- more tired than he should be, really- and he didnât want to fight. The last thing he wanted in the world was to fight. Not with Alec. Not when the rest of the world kept falling apart.
He breathed out, deflating a little. It had hurt a little that Alec wouldnât come out. That he wasnât happy for Magnus. It wasnât a perfect fix but any magic was better than none. It had to be. He couldnât keep going like that.
âOf course we can,â he said finally. He reached up and put his hand over Alecâs. Cocktails and pool with you sounds wonderful.â
Alec squeezed Magnusâ shoulder when he retorted at Alec. âIf youâre telling me that you never want me to stand my ground for you, you picked the wrong man to fall in love with,â Alec replied, refusing to be scared away from his actions, which he knew were needed.
When Magnus softened, Alec moved so he was embracing his boyfriend as he put his chin on Magnusâ shoulder. âYou think I was reluctant to celebrate?â he asked. âThis means the world to you. Maybe even more than me. Iâm not jealous but Iâm determined to not let this go sour. Otherwise, I would have been there, celebrating with you in many different countries because what is my boyfriend if not extravagant?â
Waiting for Magnus to turn slightly to look at him, Alec let his weight sag against Magnus as he went for a kiss. âAnd it doesnât have to end with cocktails and pool. Anything you like is what Iâm ready for.â
