She heard the wailing and poked her head around the corner seeing the trickster holding the infant at arms length while it wailed. He looked almost afraid. She walked up and gently took the small baby away. “Who gave you a baby?” she asked with a soft smile.

"I haven’t a clue," he replied honestly, glad to have relenquished the child to her. "They left a note. They will be back in ten days to retrieve it. I believe they must have expected me to … well … given that I have never raised a child before, leaving it in my care is foolish. He seems to have taken a liking to you, however.”

"Well then I guess your going to need some help these next ten days" she chuckled and kissed the baby's head. The baby cooed softly and gripped his tiny fingers into her shirt.

A very good reference for Writers, too.  The color of a room, or someone’s clothing can convey emotion or a state of being, or even set the tone for a setting or a situation. Colors often come with ingrained connotations - they certainly have strong meanings in Asian cultures, and in European cultures they have intrinsically understood meanings.
