Yup! There's as much evidence for Miles being Catholic as there is Peter B. being Jewish or Gwen being Trans. It's subtle but it's there. Now, I don't blame anyone who missed it because what's obvious to me (a catholic Latina who speaks Spanish) will not be obvious to others. I didn't realize that Peter B. was Jewish the first time I watch ITSV until someone made a post about it. That's why it's so important to listen to POC/minority voices in fandom, they can often see details that others not from that culture will miss.

And lets be honest, I think a lot of people don't realize that Miles is Catholic because he's black and doesn't "look Latino." Because tell me why did the fandom universally agreed that Miguel is Catholic, despite there being no supporting evidence in the movies and the only justification for that hc is that he's Mexican/Irish, but not Puerto Rican Miles? I'm gonna guess it's because he's black and doesn't look like what we think Catholics look like (Mestizo Latine, Irish, Italian). There is no one way to look Catholic look just like there is no one way to look Latine.

Miguel wiki says he's atheist, but something talks to God. If anyone wanted to submit him, I would have let him in under the "ex-catholic because being raised catholic permanently alters your DNA" category. My rules were never strict (see the dozen meme submission, the protestant prom queen, and the two anglicats).

I personally wouldn't say that Miguel has "catholic guilt" (aka guilt about not being catholic enough or doing something that the church/God would disapprove of), him feeling guilty about destroying a universe is a pretty standard trauma response. Like if Peter B. hadn't gotten back together with MJ and instead traveled to an alternative universe where he had Mayday, resulting in the collapse of that universe, would he not feel guilty? As far as we know, Catholicism has nothing to do with Miguel's guilt, he's just drank too much of the Spider-man Kool-aid.

Catholicism may have impacted Miguel's outlook on life (Spider-Man needs to suffer/need to go through the canon, Catholics need to suffer) but his outlook more or less denies free will which is pretty anti-catholic so i don't know.
