iPad Mini 6 Not Charging? Professional USB-C Charging Port Repair (A2567 & A2568)

An iPad Mini 6 (A2567 & A2568) arrived at our workshop with a charging problem. Although the iPad powered on normally, it would not charge and showed no charging current when connected to a charger.

Worked on a MacBook Pro A2141 that came in completely dead — no power, no response at all.

During initial diagnosis, one thing stood out: the U7650 power IC (5V / 3.3V rail) was getting hot on one corner. At first glance, it’s the kind of thing that makes you think, “okay, that chip must be bad.”

But experience says otherwise — a hot IC doesn’t always mean it’s the problem.

Instead of jumping straight into replacing it, I went through a proper diagnostic process. Checked resistance on the power rails, did some voltage injection, used a thermal camera, and even freeze spray to track how the heat was behaving.

That’s when it became clear — the IC was heating up because of a short somewhere else on the line, not because it had failed itself.

After tracking down the actual faulty component and fixing it, the board came back to life without touching the IC.

It’s a good reminder that in electronics repair, especially logic board work, assumptions can cost time (and sometimes damage the board further). Proper diagnosis always wins.

Took on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (SM-X200 / SM-X205) with a completely cracked screen, and it turned into a really satisfying repair.

The tablet was still powering on, but the display was badly damaged and touch wasn’t reliable. Started by carefully heating the back panel to soften the adhesive, then used plastic pry tools to open it up without damaging the housing. Definitely one of those steps where patience matters.

Once inside, it was a fairly standard teardown — disconnected the battery, removed shielding, and accessed the display connectors. Replacing the screen itself wasn’t too difficult, but you’ve got to be careful around flex cables and keep everything organized.

After installing the new screen, I powered it up before sealing it back — always a good habit — and everything worked perfectly. Clean display, responsive touch, and back to normal.
