Gael often stopped to inspect his body whenever he caught a glimpse of his reflection, especially when he was in the castle. He needed to look his best at every angle and at all times. The Dracul consumed his every thought and impulse along with every ounce of his blood. His cheeks getting flushed from making eye contact with Hakan in the mirror wasn’t a sign of shame, just the opposite in fact. Gael enjoyed the attention. “Do you think you’d still find me sexy if I managed to get…” With his hands flat against his toned abs, his mind had wandered into strange territory. This sporadic idea may have even impeded his work as Hakan’s thrall. “…a belly button piercing? Something to match my collar maybe? If I try I may be able to pinch enough skin, but I do keep it tight so there’s that…”

He supposed this was a long time coming, from the moment Hakan first crooked his finger Gael's way. Ayla's establishment worked too well. There were only a few ways his claiming by the Dracul could've ended, and the ornate collar around his neck was a telltale sign that the most obvious eventuality had come to pass. Gael didn't even want to go into the bar to give his official resignation, but he still wanted to give it. "I just wanted to be clear, y'know since I haven't been coming back. I'm fine, but I'm needed elsewhere. There's someone who needs me and desires me, so much so that I'm sure he'd kill anyone who stole some of his meal. It's all been so..." The word Gael was trying to find was romantic, but he didn't say as much. Instead, he let his flushed cheeks and tender stroking of the diamonds speak for him. "I want to be a thrall Ayla, but with him I can be more. A part of me will always want to be run through by a fang train, even though his are sooooo big, but I've never met any other vampire like him. I need this, so I'm quitting." So much has happened recently that it felt right to officially dedicate himself to Hakan's care. Plus, he couldn't immerse himself in his dream of being zaddy's happy little blood baby–in a humanizing way of course–if he had a job. "Is that okay? I know many of the other thralls were ... less than perfect."

Gael still didn't much enjoy leaving the castle these days and definitely missed his cage, but he did have to concede that if he was going to see himself as a human then he'd have to live like one. That meant occasionally going out and running errands, but on a fundamental level, his thought processes remained the same. Gael was still bound by the trappings of his life before even as he tried to have a little more respect for his well-being. It's why he abandoned his errand to chase a ghost. Gael had only caught a glimpse of hair disappearing down an ally, and though he ran to follow he couldn't catch up. But in his gut, he knew, that was Seth. There wasn't any reason other than impulse to want to be near him and he knew the other would only find the pursuit pathetic, and yet... "Seth! Are you screwing with me? I'm not playing this game with you," he calls out despite running halfway across the city, far from his destination, just to run after a tuft of hair he may have seen. "I don't go around chasing vampires anymore so ... I'll leave. I really will. My time is ... well it belongs to someone else so I can't waste it on you."

It was something of a chill, like a dark shadow coming from nothing and casting itself over Gael. After a jumpscare and a frantic look around, the thrall saw nothing out of the ordinary. Still, tension remained in his body as if often did when he felt terror. Gael was ... primed in a way to enjoy the electricity of being scared. It was essentially when spending as much time as he did in the gaze of immaculate predators. Though, if one had come into this place he figured it wasn't to spy on him. "He's not up for company, so you should leave. Let him be alone in peace." Why everyone was so intent on disrupting Hakan's grief was beyond him, but Gael was honored to provide all of the Dracul's needs whether it be chores or security. However, his grip on his broomstick tightened when he finally caught the obscured silhouette from the corner of his eye. He'd seen this one feed and fuck before, and Gael never forgot a pair of fangs. His throat went dry as he recalled the other vampires practically worshiping him like a god. Gael himself certainly had way more than a second cumming in his corner because of the ancient one. "I'm sorry, but I can't be bullied into letting you see him."

After the massive holiday party at Hakan's castle, Gael wasn't surprised that intrigue had spiked among the human populous once more. Tall tales and ghost stories were rampant, which made the residence an influencer hotspot. Everyone was intent on sneaking in to film their content, not realizing the danger they could find themselves in if they disturbed Hakan or something in the castle he treasured. Letting the more "informed" members of the police force handle the aftermath seemed like the best thing for all, but honestly, Gael was tired of constantly driving to the police station with tied-up, unconscious bodies in the trunk. "Yes I used reasonable force, yes I destroyed all devices and checked for hidden recorders, no they didn't see anything..." Gael didn't mean to sound so exasperated with his case officer, but he had to answer the same questions every time and the frequency of the trespassing was still increasing. "Isn't there more the city can do to keep people away? Eventually ... well someone might get killed. And I look like a total freak having to buy rope and duct tape every other day."
Hakan was never surprised by Gael's willingness to give his blood away. They had met at Just A Bite, so he could not say that he should have expected any less. The human was a thrall that got off on the pleasure of vampires sinking their fangs into any part of his body. The Count had decided a long time ago that he did so crave this one human's blood. Normally, he was more interested in blood of the druidic nature, but he had changed his mind several times before. Now it felt like he could only ever think about Gael's blood. Which probably said more than he ever cared to admit, but it was a true fact that he did not mind saying aloud in front of the human. If anyone else asked him, he probably would have lied right to their face. Still, his finger drifted across that vein that was partially hidden beneath the diamond collar around the other's neck.
"Mhm," he stated with a nod as his gaze never lifted from Gael's pulse. It felt like he had not drank anything in days, but that simply had not been the case. Really, he had had plenty of company. He had simply chosen not to bite Gael until he was probably in a better state of mind. The human would probably have let himself be killed just to please Hakan and he absolutely did not want that to happen. He was not quite done with Gael yet. His gaze only fell from that one vein when the human's hand lifted to his own. It was far more sentimental than he was used to, but he did not pull away. He should have, but he did not. Why did he just keep his hand there? That was far too much to think about now though. Instead, he brought his eyes back to the vein he had been focused on before. Normally, he was not a sloppy drinker, but, when his fangs protruded from his mouth and bit into the skin at Gael's neck, blood dripped from the open wound. The red ichor stained the diamonds at the other's neck, but Hakan could not bring himself to care as he reveled in the way that perfectly tailored to him blood tasted on his tongue.
✧₤✧
He really was trying to change. Gael wanted to value his life more, for no one's sake than his own. His life was to be cherished and lived, not teetering on the brink of death for the benefit of the creatures he worshiped. These things he knew, yet lofty ideals had no chance of surviving the test of presence. Hakan wasn't just another vampire, he was like a planet pulling Gael in with his gravity day in and day out. How was he supposed to feel significant against such majesty? How else was he to matter if he wasn't providing sustenance? Gael knew Zeke wanted him to stop thinking that way about himself, but Hakan's quiet power was like a drug. The thrall remembered what it was to endure life without Hakan's fangs, and though he survived he could never live that way.
Finding balance would be an exercise he underwent at a later time when grief no longer clouded his heart. There was something ... different in the way Hakan's teeth pierced his flesh, Gael could tell immediately. Too lost in the rapturous pleasure he derived, Gael didn't stop himself to think twice. He pushed up from his knees to give his body completely to the Dracul's hunger. Heaven exploded in his eyes, bathing his body in a tantalizing, golden warmth that rushed through him from head to toe. Gael was losing blood fast, so fast that in no time at all he felt like he was floating on a cloud. "Just like that, oh God Hakan. Please take more, take it all..." he slurred out, grinning as his fingers raked through the hair at the back of Hakan's head. With the level the vampire's hunger seemed to be at, Gael figured he shouldn't do anything more to provide a meal, but the drive to be a delicacy still held strong with him. He knew the right time to reach between his legs and massage his strained erection, hoping to flush his entire system with the endorphins of his arousal. Gael refused to be a snack, he was a multicourse meal. "Please, I need you. I need this. Your fangs and nothing else ... fuck!"

It should have been no surprise to him that Gael would actually listen to him. Hakan was still not sure what he wanted from the human, but he only knew for sure that he did not want him to go. That thought alone confused him enough for him to have kicked the other out in the first place. In his grief, he had made a choice to push anyone and everyone as far away as possible. That included the small amount of people that he had known for much longer than he had known Gael. Still, he was unsure of the human's place in his life right now. Gael had kept on coming by and kept on sitting there as Hakan stared into nothing and it was just...it was the most peculiar thing to think about. Again, why was he here? Why had he bothered to come to him of all people? There were plenty of other vampires in Rome. And, if Hakan knew anything about his thrall, it was that the man was willing to be a thrall to anyone that gave him fang. As he so eloquently put it several times before.
A hand was held out as Gael kneeled in front of him. The thought that had previously been within his head had gone for the moment in place of something else. If Gael was here, he would acknowledge the poor human for once. It was not okay for him to not be okay, but he was used to it. He was used to not dealing with any feeling properly so this was nothing new to him. Losing a progeny was something he had gone through before. Three in the entirety of his life and now only one remained. He would have to seek out Salvador eventually, but he was not sure it was possible for him to do so now. Instead, he looked down at Gael again. A distraction was what he needed. Gael was willing to be a distraction. "You can say whatever you please." A short pause as he leaned forward and let his finger drag down that very familiar vein in the other's neck. The one he was all too obsessed with since they had first met. "I want your blood. Just yours. Will you give it to me?"
✧₤✧
In a way, Gael had his own sense of clarity. He had time to reflect in the years wiped away on his life as a thrall. When the world ended, it was pretty much all he had. Now that he got a second chance, some might consider it a waste for him to want to return to a normal that was so taboo, to begin with, but Gael knew what he needed. The world lost its color when he wasn't giving his all to a vampire. So long as he remembered that wasn't just a source of nourishment, he could continue his life in a way that didn't spit on everything Zeke had wanted for him. He'd mourn properly, in his own time, but for now, Gael wanted to do his part to heal Hakan's suffering.
He wore his collar with pride, a symbol now more than ever that he was cared for because it was Gael's choice to put it back on. Hakan's cold, flawless skin felt like home against his own. The Dracul's marble touch made him tremble with anticipation. "Yes, of course you can. I'll give as much as you need," he responded sounding almost relieved. The intense longing he felt threatened to overwhelm him, but he reeled himself in before he threw himself headlong into his service. "I've uh been doing small chores around the castle so I have a fully stocked cooler downstairs. Plenty of meals to help me replenish." It was a healthier response than "drain me bone dry zaddy" he supposed, but the ecstasy Gael derived from Hakan's simple touch was clearly etched onto his face. Up close and looking up at him, Gael truly felt as if he were gazing at a god. His other hand reaches up to lightly rub over the vampire's knuckles, encouraging the hand at his neck. "That is to say, you can have my blood to yourself. I don't have any need to leave you. You are more than enough for me, so please, eat your fill Hakan."
Hakan was not sure how long it had been since he had seen the light of day or even stepped foot outside of his castle. It felt lonely, desolate. People had been wise enough not to show up considering everything that had happened. He had not taken it well in the slightest and he was not the type to lie about emotion. It was mostly because he rarely ever had any to express in the first place. Now it felt like that was all he had. After a while, it had seemed like there was nothing left for him to give. There were still plenty of others in the Pluto line, but the one he wished was still around was no longer here. Brows furrowed, he sat upon a grand chair that he had owned for nearly as long as he had been alive. It had been silent until Gael showed up. The human always showed up. The count had kicked the other out of his cage and he had half expected Gael to find someone else to occupy his time and never show up again. Contrary to what he had thought would happen, here the other stood again. He had not stopped visiting and Hakan wished he could muster up asking the question of 'why?'.
Turning his head, he let his eyes meet Gael's own. Maybe today would be the day he asked that question. Maybe it would not be. Either way, there was some strange sort of feeling that went through him seeing that Gael was still here, still wanting to be around him. A moment passed as he stared at the human. Then he turned to face the window again as he spoke. "Come here and kneel." He let a hand nonchalantly gesture towards the floor in front of him just in case Gael got confused about the instructions. That was hardly likely considering how intently the other listened to him every other time.
✧₤✧
There were things he had to accept now, for the sake of what was lost. It didn't matter how badly he wanted all power and agency he had to be the property of a vampire, Gael had to be able to listen to his own heart. That's why he was back to dedicating himself to Hakan. He had been compelled to forget, enthralled by shadow queens who preferred him as a monster, and given every opportunity to move on in the time now forgotten. Gael needed to return to him and help him through his grief, for however long it took because his love and devotion for Hakan ran deep.
That's why he didn't hesitate to kneel before the Dracul, his concerned yet enthralled eyes peering up at Hakan. His gaze was intense yet void of demand or expectation. Gael was simply happy to have Hakan's attention. It was the kind of look a worshipper would give to their god, which Hakan still was to him, just one who needed a little extra care given the pain he was in. Unfortunately, the vampire was as hard to read as ever. "It's okay to not be okay." There was something tragic about how regal Hakan looked. Gael wasn't sure where that statement came from and he seemed almost shocked that he said it at all. "Sorry, I don't know why I said that."

✧₤✧
The fact that after loss, compulsion, fifteen long years and a fixation on tentacles he couldn't quite shake Gael still wanted to return to Hakan confirmed what he'd known all along: he belonged to the Dracul forever. Except things would be different now, for Zeke's sake. He still placed Hakan's needs above everything, but he also was more diligent about taking care of himself as a human not just a food source. Or he tried to be. Avoiding the wreckage in Zeke's wing of the castle was just part of that. Even then, Hakan's grief compounded in Gael's heart along with his own. He didn't know vampires could suffer like that, but he couldn't let himself drown in the heartache. It was typical for melancholy to hit him like a brick when he found Hakan in the castle during his daily check-ins. Even the back of his head seemed sad in a way, but Gael would keep showing up no matter how long it took. "Do you think you'll eat today? It's ok if not, we can just sit again. I don't have anywhere else to be except with you."
@appetizinggael location: Somewhere that Gael shouldn't be notes: Bonjour
This guy should be dead. There was really no logical reason for how Gael could have made it this far, acting the way he did, and risking his life this often. It might have been better to just let Gael run at these creatures, but Ezekiel had a soft spot for him: they were friends, and it was hard for the vampire to look at Gael and not be reminded of his sire. Hakan was gone, but his thrall and his progeny were still here. That had to count for something.
"No." Ezekiel said as he pulled the other back and into the alley, "How many times do I have to tell you those things aren't going to fuck you, they're going to fucking kill you or turn you into one of their... Meat puppet things." They'd stitched Sanem's device into Gael's clothes without telling him, Ezekiel had just said the little apparatus was just so that he was gang, little did the man know that it was keeping him off the illithids radar.
✧₤✧
Gael didn't know why, maybe it was some residual impulse from his time with Monster. Who knows, but he couldn't see those strange creatures without feeling that tickle in his guts. "I'm sorry Zeke, I didn't mean to worry you. It was an accident, I don't know what's wrong with me."
He wanted to stay loyal and focused. Vampires deserved his everything and for a while they were his entire world. But things have changed so much and the world was much more complicated. He felt he needed to protect Zeke, but besides his blood he didn't really know how to do that. "Don't tell the others about this, okay? I don't want anyone to think I'm slipping. I've still got to look after you, at least until things get ... well less like this."
@appetizinggael location: Brave New World (old worn out hole) notes: hehehe
The extraction was a nuisance, but it was well within the Architect's scope, the drow's tactics were things that he was intimately familiar with. This parasite had taken hold of the mortal entirely, but once Felandaris removed it from the point of entry, then he should recover fully. Shadows wrenched at the root of the beast as the dark incantation took hold and heaved until the squealing beast was pulled from Gael and then promptly cut down. In quiet and solitude, Felandaris worked to free those that had been enthralled, liberating those that he could; it wasn't for any reason related to benevolence, no, at his rotted core the drow still held nothing but contempt for these surfacers. But this war had taken the only person in the world that truly mattered, and he was willing to do just about anything to see him returned.
"Put some clothes on." That was one filthy jockstrap, Felandaris tossed clothes at the man on the floor. He was hoping for a warrior but... Whatever this was, he would have to do. "We have places to go."
✧₤✧
Gael and Monster had understood one another. Even though Monster was in control and he had no input whatsoever, the first thing Gael noticed when his eyes blinked open was how empty he felt without his friend inside of him. Oh well... The only remnants of the creature that remained was this nagging feeling that it was a good idea to follow this guy. "Yeah, sure," he said in a monotone voice as he tried not to cry when he started pulling his tattered strap down his thighs. Hakan was gone, he felt it now and could properly process the loss, but only because Wolfgang was gone too. Years of compulsion unraveled because of Monster and still Gael lamented about not getting any fang. Even though this guy didn't have any, there were feelings that remained from his time with his friend. Feelings that made the tight joggers and crop top he pulled on feel extra warm.
"You're one of them, aren't you? The drow? Pleasing you was all that thing could think about." While Monster may have been intent on getting that spiky, top-speed spinning grappling hook, Gael's guts still felt a bit tickled by whatever this guy had done to him. Maybe he'd be able to see heaven again from that. "Where are we going? Will we get more alone time when we get there? You know, you could reach inside me again, just to make sure you got everything out."

The portal was down with The Pyramid. They said everyone who had been in the Otherworld encampment was dead and gone. Epimetheus had been there, so had Nettelia. The two most important people in his life had remained there and everyone told him that they were likely wiped away by the Necronomicon's force. But the druids had spoken about Nettelia's immunity to blood magic and the book that she'd created. She had to be alive. Epimetheus- Prometheus could hardly allow himself to think that it was true, that his twin brother was gone. But deep inside, he knew it, he felt it had to be true because even Nettelia would not have been able to save him. It was all the forethought and logic that Prometheus was capable of having as the avariel felt within something snap. The next few hours were a blur.
In a matter of seconds he was at what had once been the Domus Aurea but the building had been leveled and was reduced to nothing but rubble, the portal there gone too. Monsters descended on him and Prometheus' mind went blank of anything but Nettelia and Epimetheus, grief and rage unlike anything that he had ever known in his life. The seraph blade went through everything living indiscriminately, no strategy or sense in the killing and they just kept returning. He didn't care. For a moment, he needed this. Cries of rage and frustration became breathless gasps as the avariel expelled every bit of his energy into the decimation of these creatures until the exhaustion gave him some insight back into sense.
Prometheus collapsed by the rubble, leaning against the seraph blade as tears collected in his eyes but he didn't notice the tears nor the blood that coated nearly every inch of him. He felt nothing but the hammering of his heart and the burn in his lungs. How long had he been attacking like this? Prometheus stood up in slightly shaky legs, flinging the seraph blade down to the ground to let it disappear. There had to be someway back, someway to find Nettelia. Epimetheus had died without forgiving him. But his brother's lack of forgiveness would have been worse if he didn't try what he could to get Nettelia back at the very least. That was fine - Prometheus would never forgive himself either. He tried to gather back his senses as another creature came forward. It roared out and Prometheus only looked up at it as it spat and extended its tentacles and claws, the avariel's long hair being blown back with the force of the monster's roar. "Can we please take five?," he muttered up at it. If it came too close, the avariel would simply reappear behind it.
✧₤✧
Monster was devoid of empathy, his mothers had no use for something like that. They just needed him to destroy, or keep those capable of destroying him busy until their forces descended in mass. Five? No no no, Monster had no time to waste. He lunged without hesitation, smashing down into the ground only to feel no blood between his claws. It was just dust and dirt, prompting Monster to spin around wildly. This it was surely going to be trouble for his mothers, therefore Monster would use his newfound strength to track down the slippery thing. He felt incensed like never before, attacking over and over even as the it poofed around him. It's what Monster was born to do.
Aelia took one look at the beast and thought mm rather not, her stomach gurgled in hunger and yet a frown pulled the corners of her lips down as she felt as if she met a monster that could finally take a bite back. A corpse was held tight in her hands, its beating heart refused to cease, attempting to stitch itself back together, she decided she was done with her morsal and would rather put it between herself and the beast. Tossing the regenerating body as if it was a rag-doll into its mouth, she reached forward and grabbed another fighter, ripping the sinew out of their throat, she threw it like a toy in a far off distance. "Go fetch puppy!"
✧₤✧
It was hard to say which his mothers would prefer for him to destroy first. Monster wasn't good at thinking, but he did know that she was not someone whose approval mattered. He would not fetch, however the flying body did have a slightly higher appeal. Monster lunged for it, snatching the body out of the air and ripping it to pieces before his feet touched the ground. Only once the it was reduced to a puddle of flesh did Monster turn back for the other with a snarl. She seemed strong, so either Monster had to bite her head off or he had to keep her engaged until she ripped Monster's head off. Either way, Monster was going to be very useful.
