Bringing over a simple (and previously documented) tutorial on how to make Sims2Pack Clean Installer work with Sims 2 Legacy and UC. This is just an adapated version of SimsWiki's UC FAQ, so all credit goes to them. If you want a written step-by-step, please go to their website! STEP 1: Download Sims2Pack Clean Installer

Download (and install) Sims2Pack Clean Installer. This tutorial will be covering the installable version, but the NoInstall one probably works the same. STEP 2: Open the Sims2Pack Clean Installer configuration file

You will now go into the directory where you selected and installed Sims2Pack Clean Installer on. By default, it installs on the C:/ drive, so it is probably located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Sims2Pack Clean Installer. That may vary if you changed the directory.

Open the file called "S2PCI.ini". That is the configuration file that we will be altering. PS: You can use your computer's default Notepad for this, but software like Notepad++ can be easier to manage/edit.

STEP 3: Edit your Sims2Pack Clean Installer configuration to detect Sims 2 Legacy/UC

Where it says SaveGamePath="", you will add the directory where your game's Documents folder is in between the "", just like shown in the photo. - For The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, it is usually C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy - For The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection, it is usually C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2™ Ultimate Collection

After that, simply save and replace the file. Depending on your computer settings, it might say it is not able to save. If this happens to you, simply save the edited S2PCI.ini on your desktop, then copy and paste the file inside the Sims2Pack Clean Installer folder and replace the original file (and it should always ask for you to replace the original file! check the tips below for clarification). It might ask for administrator permission, just click yes and proceed until the file is replaced with the one you just edited.

TIP: Not sure what your username is? Simple: on your File Explorer, go to Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Legacy (or Ultimate Collection) and click the bar. It will show the full path to the folder. Copy that path and follow the rest of this step. TIP 2: Make sure to save it as a .ini file and NOT a .txt one! If you are having difficulties with that, go to File > Save as on Notepad and select "All Files (*)" as file type. Make sure to also name it exactly as S2PCI.ini (it SHOULD ask you to replace the original file, if it did not, something is wrong. Try following the steps again making sure everything was properly followed!)

I just discovered this last night while I was fiddling around with the graphicsrules file because I was sick of sims taking forever to change clothes. This is what I found, so it ISN’T OFFICIAL! With that said, PLEASE TRY THIS AT YOUR WON RISK! I don’t know how it effects people that have a different computer than mine, or if it intensifies any kind of rendering process, like HQ Mod (though it would make sense if it does, because the reason sims take forever to change is because the outfit is still rendering). MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL FILE BEFORE YOU EDIT! PLEASE! DON’T DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL YOU MAKE A BACKUP!

Now, to the tutorial:

Go to My Computer>Program Filesx86>The Sims 3>Game>Bin and locate the graphicsrules.sgr file (MAKE A BACKUP) then open Notepad.

We will edit the cpulevel, threadlevel, cardlevel, gpuemlevel, ramlevel. They can all easily be located by these names alone. They will look like this:

What we will do is change all of these numbers to the highest value, so all the numbers are the same, like this:

With the addition and since The Sims 3 World Adventures, a change was made to how things are seen in the world of The Sims 3. You may have noticed that many objects glow, day or night, especially in certain lighting conditions. While this may or may not be annoying to everyone, this glow is applied to things such as chairs, curtains, lamps, and countertops. If you don’t know what I am talking about, see the picture below.

By following this tutorial we will be removing the glow, provided the tutorial was followed correctly.

Do note that this edit will have to be made each time after a game update or new expansion pack or stuff pack is installed because the file is usually overwritten. Also note that by disabling the glowing, you will not be able to see the heat waves rising from the ground in Egypt in The Sims 3 World Adventures and headlights and lamps on cars will not glow.

Opening & Editing The File

Open Computer and browse to where The Sims 3 is installed. The most common location is: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

Under the Bin folder, locate the file GraphicsRules.sgr.

Right-click on this file and choose Open.

Next, since the extension is .sgr, it’s not a common file. Windows will ask you what you would like to open it with. Choose Notepad from the listing and make sure to uncheck “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.” Click Okay.

Once the file is open in Notepad you will then see some coding and stuff you may not understand. That’s okay, because the next few steps are really easy.

In Notepad, go to Edit > Find (or press Ctrl + F keys on keyboard) to bring up the find window. Type in AdvancedRendering and hit the button Find Next.

You will then be taken to a section called AdvancedRendering and it will have a few lines of text below it. This option allows for improved graphics in the game and if you have a relatively good card, chances are this option is enabled. As you see below, the line RenderPostProcessEnabled false is selected, but it’s under the Off option. If you have Advanced Rendering turned off, not only will your graphics look blurry but you also won’t get the glowing on objects – which is just what we want, minus the blurry graphics.

Highlight the line as shown and Right-click > Copy or press Ctrl + C keys on your keyboard at the same time to copy the line.

Once copied, place your cursor in the On section and paste the copied line on a new blank line by pressing Ctrl + V keys on keyboard or Right-click > Paste. If you did it correctly, it should look like the image below. Note: The line in the picture was highlighted so you can see the line you added.

Do not touch or copy any other lines within this file unless you want to break your game and prevent it from loading or displaying your graphics properly.

Now that you have added the RenderPostProcessEnabled false line under the On setting for AdvancedRendering it is now time to Save your changes.

Saving The File

Once you have added the line in Notepad, you will want to go to File > Save As.

It is important to know that you won’t be able to save in The Sims 3 folder without administrative permission. If you try to save in The Sims 3 folder you will get an error message of:

“C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\GraphicsRules.sgr. You don’t have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the My Documents folder instead?”

Choose No.

Next, browse to your Desktop by clicking on Desktop in the left side navigation pane window in File Explorer. When saving, take out the name it generated which should be the same name as the file and retype the filename GraphicsRules.sgr and make sure the Save as type is set to All Files. Click Save.

The file should have saved to your Desktop. Locate the file called GraphicsRules.sgr on your desktop. It should be a white plain file, and if you try to open it, it should not open with Notepad, but instead prompt you like in the very beginning.

The last step is to now overwrite the GraphicsRules.sgr file for The Sims 3 with your edited one. If you left the Computer window in The Sims 3 Bin folder, good! If not, open Computer and browse to The Sims 3 > Game > Bin located C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

Click and drag the GraphicsRules.sgr file from your Desktop into the Computer window for The Sims 3. You can also Right-click > Copy on the GraphicsRules.sgr file on your Desktop, and then Right-click > Paste on any white area in Computer/The Sims 3 window.

If done correctly, Windows will ask you about overwriting the file and if you would like to Move and Replace, Don’t move, or Rename files. Choose Move and Replace. You may be prompted to supply your computers administrator password, depending on your security settings, to confirm that you indeed want to overwrite this file. Since you made the edit and know what file you are replacing, it is okay to allow the file to be overwritten in this case.

So all this is gone kinda depend on your pc specs aswell as your type of preface of the look of the game.But this is i like to do and add to my game to make it look realistic and close to real life? i can sayyy… well not close LMAO

Issues

Sims may walk thru the backdrop, I suggest to place it against the wall or place an object behind it.

There might be issues with some poses for heavyset Sims.

Photoshoot session for Swimwear and Lingerie won’t be counted in the skill journal if it’s queued with other poses.

There’s also an issue with outfits switching if there are different photoshoot types in the interaction queue.

Other Sims interrupting the photoshoot by talking to the photographer which cancels the interaction. Also, Sims will “join” photoshoot by standing in between the model and photographer. This wont cancel the interaction.

Hey Nonny! I don’t use an HQ mod as it makes my sims take hours to change clothes. I am more a fan of SweetFX or Reshade and their Lumasharpen shader, as this shader sharpens your whole game and not just the sims.

And HQ mods are not “mods”. They change 2 numbers in your graphicrules.sgr and that’s it, so which one to use is actually silly :P Honestly, its 100x times better to do it yourself, as your graphicsrules are made for YOUR game, so switching it out with one online can mean your game doesnt recognize your graphics again and other things, so if you want an HQ mod, do this:

1. Go to C:/Program Files/EA/The Sims 3/Game/Bin and BACKUP THE ORIGINAL BEFORE you open the graphicsrules.sgr in notepad.

2. Scroll down till you see “option Simquality” and edit the two numbers I circled. So: normal is 2048, 1.25x>2560, 1.5x>3072, 2x>4096 (I don’t advise going higher). If you scroll a tiny bit further down you also get one next to CAS render or something, you can up that if you want an HQ CAS. You will just need to fiddle to see what looks good. Then just save. If it refuses to save, then use “save as” and save to your desktop, then replace the one in “Bin” with the one you just saved on your desktop. For this to work you need your sim quality texture setting in game on very high.

Hello guys, this is an addon for every hairstyle you use on your sims. Read the following instructions carefully!

INCLUDES:

☆ 2 different hairline overlays 

→ can be found in all 5 make-up sections

→ there is no way to retexture the scalp via make-up, so if you use a hairstyle that shows parts of the scalp, you have to photoshop the holes. There is no way around
