Ppl got to understand that being Latino doesn't automatically make someone a person of color and that u can be white and latino the same way u can be afro Latino, or asian and Latino or, indigenous and Latino etc etc
I suffer from severe depression, a lingering OCD, CPSTD, fatigue, and strange blackouts that often result in my phone slipping from my hand or me bumping into walls.
I'm now dealing with a 480 $ (it used to be 340$ a couple of days ago and then not only the fees multiplied like ants, but I find myself needing cash for medical care) overdraft, while needing urgently to cover transportation costs, medical expenses, and much needed toiletry.
Oh, and also clothing and apparel as seams are slowly wearing down in every other corner.
This means that not only do I need to raise the 480 $ to refund my overdraft, but I also need to raise 480$ as a general goal. I hate it, but it's somewhat urgent and time sensitive.
50/960$

all ur latina/latino edits do is reinforce the idea that being latina/latino is a race (it isnt btw) and all latinos/latinas are tan (theyre not btw)🤡
great job!! so left u go right
Dude. I literally do different skin tones and the characters are different ethnicities. There's more than enough white/lightskinned characters in this world, take them instead of bothering me.
The main intention is for the characters to look like me in some way and to be a breath of fresh air from the colourism in LATAM (and a lot of other) media.
I know this is a troll, but whatever, so left you go right 😜
Thats right... we're spreading the evil agenda of brown cartoon characters. Heh, we're going to ERASE white latinos from public consciousness. All according to plan....
My race is Black biracial. My celebration of my ethnicity is none of your (anon’s) business.

I miss Jonghyun. He's my favorite solo artist. I love his voice. It was really hard to narrow down my favorites. He got me through my own depression while I was having mental health issues in undergrad. He was there for me during heights of abuse in my personal relationship at the time. He matters very much to me.
There's also a couple albums I haven't brought myself to listen in full yet. I don't want to stop finding new music by him. Grief is hard. Jonghyun, you did well.

i wouldn't necessarily have a problem with seeing a doctor whose name was dr skull. but if his office was in a cave i'd be alert for signs of a lair
Hey all, while we're busy normalizing women with hairy legs, hairy armpits and bushy pubes, let's also normalize women with hairy upper lips, hairy chins, hairy side burns, hairy chests, and all the other places where women are supposedly magically hair-free.
I feel like there’s also a racialized element haunting the conversation around shaving that I haven’t yet seen anyone really address (at least on my dash, I’m sure people ARE talking about it in general because I cannot possibly be the first person this thought has occurred to). there’s like the very basic point that if you are someone who grows thicker, courser body hair then you will be more prone to painful ingrowns and shaving regularly will absolutely exacerbate this, it was a thing I dealt with for years when I was still shaving my body hair and having stopped doing that has been tremendously helpful for my bodily wellbeing. but also overall I do think racialized people (obviously especially racialized women) can be more heavily targeted by the pressure to shave. not even necessarily because of the claim that we are “naturally hairier” or whatever because that’s really not universally true and I don’t think it’s super helpful to parrot that. but in my experience our body hair, largely regardless of its appearance or quantity, is frequently treated as more unsightly and less acceptable than that of our white peers for any number of reasons. and I do think that should be part of the conversation around abolishing a culture of shaving. it was something that impacted my life from a very young age in a way that was markedly different from and often actively enforced by my white friends and classmates.

pick up that non-fiction book
not all of us can live in fantasy 100% the time like i see some people on here do and it's refreshing to learn something new. its been philosophy, essays, and history for me and i feel much more at home on planet Earth for it knowing that people have been struggling and wishing similarly for millenia.
its not that fiction doesnt have its place, its important and healthy to exercise the imagination, but non-fiction can do so much to boost and supplement that. if not for yourself, for your art or for the people you're around
"representation matters!" but you wont read or engage with non-fiction works about any demographic outside your own
this version of the post doesnt seem to be getting much traction but this is arguably the most important reason why we should be reading nonfiction in addition to fiction

I feel like contouring is lowkey racist
Is this a joke?
Noo lol I knew I’d regret phrasing it that way. This is tumblr, after all…
It’s not “people who contour are themselves automatically racist” but that the desired face shape created by contouring is one that, at the end of the day, pretty much reflects existing white standards of beauty. A thinner, pointier nose, smaller chin, high angled cheekbones and (on occasion) smaller lips. Also if you’re darker skinned you have to use a much lighter shade of foundation thus ending up with an overall lighter face.
I probably could have phrased that better.
No, you are absolutely correct. In fact it is not even lowkey in the performance arts/entertainment world. I’ve known how to contour since I was 9, because I was in ballet. I was taught by an older Asian dancer who told me that I was already darker than everyone else, my face couldn’t look different too. So she showed me the basics, then left me with a picture of a white person as the goal to emulate.
It’s always been explicit and intentionally racist in terms of what is considered correct contouring technique is to emulate white associated features. Which is not to say that contouring is bad, but it is good to ask ourselves why we do not contour to make our noses look wider and more distinguished. Or why we don’t shadow and highlight to make the face look perfectly round? While contouring is not bad ( and is actually very cool to literally be able to control the way people perceive your face, it’s like magic) it’s good to ask ourselves why we contour the way we do.
