and he is not really someone that you would want to partner with, for all his skill. he’s grumpy, and uncooperative, and sullen. he’s intimidating. shouto knows the whispers that curl behind his back, he knows what people say about him. he has a reputation for something or other, for being handsome, for being standoffish, for being rich, for being talented. he’s not any of those things.
a turn of the head, and he blinks, long and feline, somewhat confused. there is a flutter of eyelashes, and he presses his lips together. partners are inevitable, but he’d like someone from his class. maybe yaoyorozu, she’s capable. he’s not good with strangers.
still, he has no reason to be panicked, and no reason to fear this somewhat harmless one.
“sure.” it’s not much, but what else is there to say?
there’s something there, something under the surface, setting off shouto’s animal instincts like an alarm, but it’s not loud enough for him to notice. but he’ll keep an eye on it.
