IFLA Webinar Development and Access to Information (DA2I): Meaningful Access to Information to Leave No One Behind To mark the second year anniversary of the...
Thing 12
Interesting field but a bit harderĀ to really understand, I think. Iāve heard about Open access and Open Educational Resources but never really thought about them before. Iāve found some sources within my field as a public librarian. One is āLibriVoxā thatĀ I actually recommendedĀ one visiter some years ago. But there is a problem with that source (and of course many others):Ā The books are kept free under the american public domain, which means thatĀ they will not nessecarely be under publlic domain in my country.
Iāve choosen one Learning resource that kling to my work:Ā a webinar from IFLA.Ā
Thing11
I've read about the different licences some times before but in my work Ā I don't very often use media on daily bases that I have to check copyright for. One month ago, I did look for som music to a film I've made about Italy, to be published on Fb. I looked for "O sole mio". Found one (1)Ā recording on "Sound Cloud" Ā that was good with CC for commercial use. I was a bit surprised that this recording was allowed and it showed that it was not - It was published under false CC onĀ another webĀ page. Fb immediately told us we were not alowed to use it. So - no O sole mio. Could have used this instead: https://soundcloud.com/nikos1333/maria-callas-la-diva-o-mioĀ Free recording because of it's age. Not that good! I chose to use the built-in music in the film-maker program..:-(
Thing 10 Wikimedia projects
I already know some things about Wikipedia. Often forget anotherĀ free, open resource, as Wikimedia commons. Totaly new for me where Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikispecies and Wikivoyage. Sweden is a small country and the content is too small to be usefull,Ā I think, except of course for Wikipedia. The english versions are much better. ButĀ it's good to keep all of them in mind, especially at work (in information service) and especially Wikiquotes. About Wikipedia - it's good that articles are marked so you know if it's a good article or one that needs to be supplemented.
Thing 9 Google Hangout
I've never used Google Hangout. Got no-one at the moment to chat with. Good tool. I use Skype for language lessons. Almost the same, I think, even if I don't know all the possibilities yet. We could use theese tools in a better way even at work. It's a good way of sparing time.

Thing 7 - Twitter
I made an account some years ago. Too much information - so many tweets referring to articles I didn't fell I had time to read. I skipped it. became stressed.
As I couldn't come in to Twitter without an account, as I, according to this course should be able to, I set up a new account.
Got angry directly: Choose interest: American politics... Why not chineese? Music: only popular styles...
I don't think this is a forum for me. I have friends who really like to use it as a way of beein up-to-date but I think I will have to make this in another Ā way...
Yes, I was a bit surprised... I made a check on the library's homepage. Could have been better. Some things we can't affect, to change that, you have to by a system with better solutions - all about money. "Go tell it on the mountain" in other words: if we should be a real democratic library available for all, the politicians must know that we need more money, for not just to byĀ a cheapĀ web solution.Ā But we, the staf need better understanding, we need always to thinkĀ availability. We have produced films about how toĀ use the library's services. No text.
A good thing -Ā on our employees days we will discusĀ the democratic mission of theĀ library!Ā
Avatar again
I also think it's a shift of paradigm: we listen to earbooks instead of reading with our eyes, we use avatars in communication instead of trying to describe our feelings with words. Both are in a way more convenient. The written text demands another effort and we move away from that in 2000. God or bad or only the natural circle of history?
It's funny to make one, and I think they can be used and also express things in another way. But I still can't motivate the time it takes.
Thing 4 - digital security
Well, on the cours in Lund, I for the first time (...) really thought about this with security and apps. Afterwards, I went through all my appd and denied accessĀ to especially place. One reflection, but with no understanding/solution: I decided to deny Google access to place. I made a search for a place, checked out the map and how to get there. Google found my destination anyway.. :-(. Suppose I've missed something?

Digital Footprints
This is a good lesson with rather disappointing result! Of course I know that employers can check me up, me searching for a new job.Ā Until now, I have beenĀ at ease with it - finding facts about me on the internet has been a possibility for me to see what I have done so far (combined with my job), not needing to organize and collect papers. My digital footprints - pictures- Ā are mostly related to my work, and that is good. But - many of them are too old!Ā And the articlesĀ refer to 2014. I belong to one of those who have many accounts that I never maintain. As an example: The first hit is LinkedIn - a place for employers. I have two friends, now picture... I never use it! Why did I started it? I will close it. My Fb accounts - I have now changed settings. But, I'm rather pleased with the right part - Google contacts. It's me as a professional, it's ok!
Thing 1&2
After taking part in a short introduction in Lund, Sweden, in the month of may, about 23 things, I decided to participate. 10 years ago (!) I made a similar course - 13 things, that really got me interested. Time run quickly and I feel hopelessly "after" even if I handle some tools. I will repeat some old knowledge and gain some new during this course. I will also try to work in a slow process: 1-2 hours/week to make it all reachable. A blog is for me a very good way to work. I've done it before. This time I will use tumblr because for me it's a new experience.
At work we use social media rather much but I'm not one of those who is responsible. Found the guideline for social media on the homepage for the city of Helsingborg. It's a short guideline, I was aware of some content, not all. Now I no where to find it if I need.
