This scene fascinated me since the first time I watched for a few reasons:

Steve is a navy officer, he is used to hierarchy, Danny just walking away and him following the next day was something I didn't expect. Danny walking away yes, but Steve following no. Especially in season 1, when Steve was a lot less empathetic. Steve was determined to let him go

In the next scene. Steve still think Danny is wrong, that Danny cannot see clearly because of his friendship with Meka, but he still goes anyway.

Then Danny getting Steve speechless and finally making him understand: "Then let me ask you a question. Let's say IA accused me of skimming off a drug lord. And they showed you a stack of evidence that suggests that I did it. Would you believe them?" "No, I wouldn't" "why not?" 'exactly" (Steve's little smile in this scene is so cute 🥺)

Steve already thought highly of Danny, but after that he realized just how loyal he is. Years later he says Grace is just like her dad because she is "loyal to a fault". That's such a crucial moment to their relationship.

Excuse me sir, why are you looking at Danny?
