We broke our big moving goal into smaller monthly goals to make it more achievable and in a timely manner so that we actually survive this, but we are not achieving. We have not met the first months goal two months 5 we have urgent specialist appointments coming up.

My roommate with cancer is supposed to have surgery out of state soon, and we are doing all we can to just make sure that gets taken care of. We are drowning. Very close to giving up most days.

We are waiting for more information, but the general idea of "the cancer is for sure there, a problem, and will need something done about it" is clear. We have significantly more affordable housing and more reliable work waiting for us in upstate NY. We will have help applying for assistance there, as well as a more solid community to have our backs, something we don't really have here. For convoluted reasons (dm me for details), we also will have a significantly easier time getting affordable healthcare, as well as trans and intersex care being a lot more accessible in NY.

We have cheaper housing and more reliable work lined up in New York, where we will also be in a welcoming environment with significantly more food security. We will be able to get my fiance's legal paperwork sorted (as an intersex adoptee, his paperwork is fucked) allowing us to get married and insured.

This is huge for us. We have become malnourished from poverty, and we are overdue for medical testing, and we keep nearly dying from illnesses despite masking everywhere, which probably has a lot to do with the prolonged malnourishment and stress.

To make this move before it gets dangerously cold to do so, we need to get $3,000 every month between now and then. It gets dangerously cold early in the year for the area we will be headed to. I know this is a huge ask, but this is a very tangible way you can help keep us alive while we attempt to flee from the effects of fascism. Following a surgery a few weeks ago, my work has been unreliable. I'm a contract worker for a couple of companies and I only have that work when it's available, which it has not been. There's other things I do when I'm doing better physically, but I've not been able to afford to eat decently since before my surgery, so unsuprisingly, I've been unable. I did an interview with an author recently for a long term, multimedia, project I'm doing and I am working on that project and trying to get more reliable work in the meantime.

For most of the month, I've been dealing with a severe flare of my autoimmune disorder as a result of surgery. We haven't been eating regularly because we can't afford to. Things are looking incredibly hopeless. I'm setting this goal to cover rent, the power bill, and a couple of days' worth of food.
