I’ve done a total 180 from last year’s Chinese new year Shen painting. CYN is traditionally very communal holiday, and I’ve had a few late-night-crying-into-my-plushie sessions about how Shen basically has nobody in his life. Shen has no friends (gee i wonder why), no family, no lovers to spend a holiday with. So instead I’ve decided to show him at his family’s shrine, spending the holiday mourning while the city celebrates without him. Somehow that just felt more appropriate for 2025 than something celebratory.
