“I, hm. This is a difficult question. More so than I had anticipated.” Aneirra narrows her eyes, glancing to the silver claws decorating her fingertips. They drum rhythmically against the tops of her thighs and she gives herself ample time to consider the question. 

“I have, in the past, been involved with people who obsess over me. Who treat me as an object, a thing to possess and not a person to respect. I was not someone who had her own desires, but a thing for them to project their own needs and fantasies upon. I was the wilting flower, I was the damsel in distress, I was the object of a misguided adoration. But I am none of those things. I can hold my own. I don’t require saving. I am not in need of someone to remind me of my worth, I have plenty of it. And I am not going to fawn over someone simply because they tell me to.”

Those silver claws tap together and she shakes her head, dismissing the past and giving thought to her present. “I would avoid those types, the ones desperate to call me theirs. People who treat the living dead with some sort of upsetting fetish. People who act like death killed my desire to fulfill my own needs. I don’t just sit in a closet and wait to be taken out when someone wants me. I have my own, ah for lack of a better word, life. I don’t wish for someone who can’t respect that to be a part of it.”

“In life I had a very specific sort of partner in mind. I daydreamed of a brilliant mind, of someone so intelligent we could have discussions that would keep us up late into the night. Of someone that smiled at me when I managed to hold my own in debates. I wanted someone who was attracted to my mind as well as my body.” There’s a pause, her lips curving in a ghost of a smile that is banished when she continues to speak.

“Now? I haven’t given it much consideration. Someone that wants more than a pretty, dead doll. I am not an object nor am I an obsession, and I would like a partner who wouldn’t treat me as either. Someone that shares my interests, that shares my desire to learn, someone that respects me. Someone that could, perhaps, see beyond horror into the beauty that still lives in us. We have faced a cruel fate, but it doesn’t need to make us cruel. But someone that can show a gentleness when called for and act to protect their interests and themselves when necessary.”

Quiet again, she looks as if she may fall completely silent again. But there’s a brief addition to that list, and her lips curve in that sweet smile she shows so rarely in public nowadays. “Freckles are cute too. I always thought so.”

“If I care for someone, I like to do things for them to try and make their existence easier and their schedules go more smoothly.” She grows quiet, her focus elsewhere as she stills to a statue-like state for a moment. “It never...it never gained the attention I hoped, but it can’t be said I didn’t try. That and spending time with them. I want them to know I would make time to be with them, that I can rearrange my day to spend part of it with them.”

There’s another moment of eerie stillness, the flicker of the lichfire in her eyes the only movement, and Aneirra shakes her head. “Touch, to touch or be touched, it would be...nice. For someone to spend time with me, to do kind things for me, would be nice too. But I am largely alone now save for those who work for me. I used to think it was better that way, better for me. I wonder now, was I simply scared?”

Growing silent, she studies her hands and says nothing more on the matter. In fact, she’s so lost to her own thoughts she may as well be completely alone once more.

But hm, I mean, there’s a ship I’m interested in but I’m not sure if it’ll sail? You know damn well what I’m talking about too! But otherwise? No. She had a crush on a forsaken dude once, but the more time she spent with him the more she realized he was an egomaniac, arrogant fool. So there was never a chance for that to be more than a crush!
