I have been playing music for some time now and I have found out that the use of playing music can dramatically help in assisting in moods, and with creative thinking.  When you play an instrument first the creativity comes out with learning usually on accident new sounds to play.  The assistance with moods and basically handling your emotions comes all the time when you have played for extended amounts of hours.  When you play from your own creativity you can literally play out your mood and be what I often observe lost in your own world or place in time where whatever has either has changed your mood just seems to disappear and all your left is the music at hand.  It has been a wonderful tool of expression and self therapy throughout the years.
