WINNIX + MESS IS MINE
Well hold on my darlin' This mess was yours Now your mess is mine
analysis below the cut
This song is about what I believe to be Winnix’s special sauce: acceptance.
Dick sees Nix and is like: You may be a well-connected man of wealth and privilege, but I will neither hold it against you nor give you special treatment. I know that you deserve to be here. You’ve earned my trust and respect for your many exceptional qualities and traits. I value your contributions. I value your perspective. I value your company. I see your self-destructive behavior and your drinking problem, but it’s still not enough to scare me away. I view it as you making your own life harder, as you getting in your own way. To me, it does not define you. As long as you're around, I will always try to help keep you on track, and treat you like the person that I know you are underneath it all.
Nix sees Dick and is like: You see all the parts of me. You know all the ways that I’m completely different from you, and yet you still accept me. You've seen all of my flaws, and yet you don’t reject me. This means the world to me, and I will follow you anywhere, under any conditions. I see that you’re lonely, and I will offer you companionship. I know that you’re isolated in your position of leadership, and I won’t put you on a pedestal. I see the weight of responsibility you carry, and I will be there to listen and try to comfort you. I see your dedication and high standards for yourself and the people around you, and I’ll remind that you’re doing enough, that there’s only so much you can control, and help you see the bigger picture. I see you working too hard, and I’ll remind you to take care of yourself, too.

At the end of the day, they understand and accept each other unconditionally and that is what cements the unique bond between them.
