I will be moving blogs soon.
DBH hasn't held my interest in a long time. This blog has been dead for a while, and this was a long time coming. I have been wanting to move on to writing my own original fiction, I will be posting the URL of the new blog I am moving to soon. I have not yet decided if I will delete this blog.
New blog is @feathers-made-of-iron
Message me on this blog if you’d like to keep talking to me, and I will message you back on the new blog.

"Hi! I'm the first Anon that mentioned snakes! I got Fowler to let me bring my babies to work so I could show them to you! Kernel is a corn snake, and Vigne is a opheodrys (green snake)!" - Alex
Corrin’s looked at the other, his eyes sparkling. “I would like to see them, please…” He glanced around, trying to see if he could try and catch a glimpse of any of Alex’s snakes.
Alexander lit up, setting his bag down on his desk. “They don’t like travelling very much, but they love The Bag for some reason, so I just let them hang out in there,” he explained, opening it up the rest of the way and gingerly lowering his hands into it. Soon enough, two snakes were wrapped around each hand and he was presenting them to Corrin.
The android stared down at them, scanning each snake carefully to make sure the beautiful creatures were in good health. “May I touch them? I assume they are good with strangers if Captain Fowler allows them here.” He cocked his head to one side and looked at both snakes with a smile. “My own snake is allowed here as well. He is at home right now though.”
“Oh, they’re definitely good with strangers but Vigne is a little weary about getting touched before he’s deemed someone worthy. Kernel, however, is a socialite and loves to be held by anyone,” Alex replied, carefully offering the albino snake to Corrin. “I’m sure Vigne will get used to you pretty fast. He seems to really like androids.”
Corrin nodded and gently took the albino snake from Alexander. He allowed it to smell him and wrap around his arm. “Hello there, little one.” The android almost cooed, looking over the snake carefully. “They both look to be in good health. I trust you’re taking care of them…?” He ran a hand over Kernel’s head, petting the snake.
“I can promise you that I would die before these snakes weren’t properly taken care of,” Alex assured with a nod, bringing Vigne up to his shoulders to allow the snake to hang around his neck- it was a good source of warmth apparently, and his favourite place to lay. “They were my first companions after I moved here. Got ‘em from a gardener Jayson knew that couldn’t keep them anymore.”
The android let out a soft hum of contemplation as he admired the snake in his arms. “Would you ever be willing to take care of more snakes? By that I mean would you be willing to watch mine for a little while? Paid, of course…” The android gently scratched the top of Kernel’s head.
“Paid? There would absolutely be no need to pay me, I would love to take care of your babies for however long you need,” Alex assured, offering a bright smile as if to further prove his point. “And I’m sure they’d get along great with mine. They love other snakes, as long as they don’t encroach on too far their territory of course.”
Corrin raised an eyebrow, his smile turning enigmatic. “I wouldn’t want you to look after my animals without any compensation for your time.” The android’s LED circled in gold, his eyes slightly out of focus as he thought.

Connor approached Corrin with an almost nervous energy about him. “Corrin... Would you like to accompany me to the shelter? I was invited to see the animals, and I heard they had some snakes as well, so I thought you would be interested. You don’t have to say yes, of course, I was just curious—“ -cyberlifespet
Corrin raised a brow. “Yes, I wouldn’t mind accompanying you.” Connor did always seem oddly jittery around him. Though Corrin couldn’t blame him; being intimidated by a machine designed to intimidate isn’t exactly unnatural. “Who invited you?”
@cyberlifespet
Connor had a look of admiration on his face as the other spoke, finding it almost beautiful and poetic. He could listen to Corrin talk for hours, but alas, he had to answer his question.
“Ah, they’re alright! We’ve had our ups and downs, but he’s a good friend in the end. I’ve been helping him fix his diet and coping mechanisms lately too.”
“I’m glad. From what I heard of the Lieutenant’s reputation, he is doing significantly better for your presence. I’m sure Sumo also appreciates having a second person to love.” Corrin’s eyes dragged over the other’s face in frank admiration. The dark puppy eyes were a particular fascination of Corrin’s, and so different from his own. “Even though you were not purpose built to care for humans, you do a very good job of it.”
Connor lit up at the praise, and if he had a tail it would have been wagging.
“Oh, thank you-! It’s mostly the adaptability I possess that makes it a bit easier-“ He was smiling now, a nervous and wide grin as he looked at the other.
“And Sumo’s always happy to have any sort of attention really-“
Corrin let out a gentle chuckle. The nervous, excited, happy rambling of his counterpart reminded him of the barking of a happy puppy. Gently, Corrin reached up and fixed a hair on Connor’s forehead, pushing it back into place. “Perhaps I should come and visit some time?”
Connor completely stopped when Corrin touched him, brown eyes going wide before his cheeks turned a dark blue with his blush.
“Oh— Of course—! You can come over any time-“ He squeaked out.
His hand moved down to stroke the backs of his knuckles over Connor’s cheek, barely touching but undeniably there.
“I appreciate it, but are you sure that Lieutenant Anderson would like there?”
Connor’s breath hitched slightly, thirium pump stuttering at the action.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.. He’s meeting with old colleagues tonight too, and most days I’m off he works late.. As long as there’s not a mess he wouldn’t mind…” His voice was soft and shaking just slightly.
“Then...perhaps we could spend some time there this evening. Just the two of us.” Corrin’s hand moved back to his side, though his eyes still moved over the other’s face in gentle admiration. “Your pulse has risen, Connor...and you’re quite flushed. Are you feeling alright?” His tone was one of soft teasing.
Connor approached Corrin with an almost nervous energy about him. “Corrin... Would you like to accompany me to the shelter? Connor’s eyes lit up at the sight, a small grin on his face.
“Oh, he looks so pretty- And his name is so cute too!” While Connor would always love mammalian animals more, he couldn’t help but adore the cute little snake. Any animal who could satisfy his urge of seeing cute things poke their tongue out at the camera was a good animal in his book.
“How old is he?”
“He’s five.” Corrin flicked through his phone to find another picture of Sour Cream curled up in a small, asleep in a large, luxurious tank. “He is a very pretty snake. I do my best to take care of him. He has a little trouble in the winter but other than that he’s always happy and healthy.” The android smiled at Connor. “Do you have any pets? I know Lieutenant Anderson has a St Bernard. Sumo, was it…?” He’d glanced a picture on the older human’s desk, but not much more than that.
Connor blushed a little at the smile he received from Corrin, though lit up upon hearing the dog’s name.
“Yes, Sumo!” Connor smiled brightly, producing his own phone that looked a little worse for wear. He found a photo Hank had taken of Connor wearing a rather tacky sweater and shorts that seemed to be stolen from the Lieutenant while holding the St. Bernard with childish ecstasy.
He cocked his head to one side, noticing the blush. “That shade of pink is quite fetching on you, Connor.”
Corrin looked over the image, his smile spreading a little at the sight of Connor and the dog. “He’s lovely. He looks like a very sweet dog.” The android memorised the appearance of the dog- perhaps inspiration for a gift later. “St Bernards are some of the most loyal dogs in the world.”
Connor didn’t have much time to react at the compliment, simply blushing more before returning his focus on the picture.
“Yes, and Sumo is the most loyal one I’ve met. He’s always been there for me and Hank.” He looked back up at Corrin.
“Though I feel like snakes have a same sense of loyalness. Perhaps they can’t run around and fetch, but surely a snake who’s keen to stay will remain loyal to the one who homes it.
“Indeed. The trust of a snake is an interesting thing to earn. It adjusts to you as you adjust to it. But if you do get them to trust you, you will have them forever.” Corrin levelled the other with a soft, yet analysing look.
“Dogs, however, are seemingly loyal no matter what. They wish to make those around them happy and to defend their packs. Even with their lives if they have to.” He gave a soft smile. “How are things with Lieutenant Anderson?”
