I like the idea of Simon not actually asking for affection but instead showing it through his actions. Growing up on Eden, I imagine he wouldn’t be able to ask for much, so it’s in his nature not to.

I’ve actually been contemplating this idea for a while now, even before you asked, anon! You read my mind.

Like obviously he can sit in the don't go crazy room and watch all the footage he wants of trees and plants and whatnot, and a lot of people are giving the Hail Mary a greenhouse (which I don't know if it's canon to the book or not, I haven't finished reading it yet, but given the fic fluctuations in what the greenhouse contains my guess is it isn't canon) but if Simon is on the Hail Mary, he is not going back to Earth, he is going to Erid. And there is uh. Little to suggest that Erid has trees.
