Analogue Addict

It's finally on the wall

a sneak peak of my painting with some of it obscured by my very professional assistant.

my final piece is looking good now, I've got a lot of the paint down and most of the texture. I think I only have a few hours more work to do on it. I've got some small bits of shiny wallpaper I'm going to add and a bit more pain in the centre.

Now that the first layer has dried, I started to add in some texture. I began by layering some tissue paper onto the wood where I wanted there to be waves, this gives me a good base for painting the waves and adding detail. I then embellished with sand, which adds a rough texture. I also added areas of sand and white paint mixed together, which kinda looks like polyfiller, to emphasise the waves.

I had my photo printed on matte a1 paper, and I have stuck it to some mdf ... which took two attempts and a trip to B&Q , next up is the painting 

This was a quick experiment I did that I wasn't originally planning on doing. I initially layered the tissue paper, intending to paint over it, however, I noticed the interesting patterns of mixed paint when cleaning my palette in prep. I began to peel off the dried acrylic from the plate, and stick it to the page. I like how the pieces of paint have a lot of different colours mixed through them, and it creates a kind of marbled effect that I think will look really good in my final piece. 

Here, I have experimented with using sand and paint, along with some wallpaper. The wall paper works really well as it sticks down very easily and doesn't move. The sine it creates could also look like reflections on water, and I later experimented with this to see if it would work when combined with an image. 

to create this effect I used tissue paper and kitchen roll, soaked in pva and then stuck to the page. I then used a palette knife to paint onto the surface. the combination of the rough surface and the paint, creates the effect of waves and gives movement, I think this was very successful and I would like to use it in my final piece. 

I've been experimenting with mixing sand into paint to incorporate it into my photos. I really like the way it allows you to sculpt the paint, as well as the rough texture it creates.

I love the colours in these groups of photos, I feel like they give off very different atmospheres. The merry-go-round photos are bright and exciting, the red and gold grabbing the viewers attention and the huge amount of detail drawing them in. The deckchair photos are much more calming, the blue tones persistent throughout the images, create a cool appearance, and could make the viewer feel as if they are standing on the beach feeling the breeze from the sea.
