Lesbians Love This Guy. closeted lesbians are drawn to him as a safe comp het crush and it actually works wonders for helping him stay hidden too because his teammates see women with him all the time. he's like "sorry guys i can't hang out this weekend i have plans with monique" and they're all like EYYY GET IT CAP but they don't know that the plans are that he got invited to play dnd with a bunch of dykes. they're helping him set up his character sheet this session. he's very excited he's already memorized half the 5e rulebook

Still, Ilya has such a shark mentality that he never plans ahead or looks back; all he cares about is the moment he is in and the next, nothing beyond or behind it. For the first time in his life he has to sit and wait for something he wants with nothing to do which puts him in a possition where he has to sit and prosess what happened to him and what he is feeling day to day when he never had time to do it before and besides that I think as much as him going out and sleeping and drinking etc. were lowkey harmfull it was also a way for him to self medicate, it was a coping mecanism. Now he has nothing of the sort.

Every time Ilya says something mean or condescending to Shane during the hollanoveau threesome, Cliff will instinctively coo and stroke Shane's flank and say some shit like "Aww Roz don't be so mean, he's trying so hard", talking over Shane's head like he's not even there. And Ilya will duck down to Shane's ear and say in a faux-conspiratorial whisper: "Marly is used to fucking girls with me, Shanya. He does not know what my boy likes yet. Should we show him?"

I feel like some of you guys are forgetting that when he met another queer person who had a different self-presentation than himself, after his initial self-conditioning and internalised homophobia made him think how weird they looked, Shane's first conscious thought was to correct himself and to be like 'I need more queer friends.' I guarantee you he would not prefer to be around his racist, sexist, homophobic ex-friends and teammates instead of his gayass sunshine-and-rainbows power-of-friendship hopecore team. Idk where you guys are getting that idea.

as touching as it is that ilya offered to go with shane to talk to his parents after david walked in on them, a moment that I think is as worthy of notice, if not MORE worthy, is the moment right after david has been caught looking at them and turns tail. shane, in his shock, basically freezes. he does not know what just happened. he does not know what to do. ilya is saying "maybe you should—" go after/talk to him, and shane's brain is logically processing that as correct—he says "yeah, yeah, yeah"—but his feet remain planted. AND ILYA, BRAVE- AND BIG-HEARTED ILYA, SAYS, "do you want me to—?" and points at himself. ilya rozanov has very likely never met david hollander. never exchanged words with him. knows what david's opinion of him likely is, as a player for boston and an infamous asshole and most importantly shane's career-long rival. but in this moment of devastating vulnerability for shane ilya, without hesitation, asks if shane wants him to go after his dad and talk to him about the situation. however he can think to do so on the spot. because he can see shane crumbling and his first instinct is to do whatever shane needs to be okay. well I'M not okay!!!!!!!!
