My last lover acknowledged those craftfully built barriers as my attempt to preserve the small parts of myself that remained intact, and within their subsequent love, I found myself searching for greater reason.

When my last lover declared themselves as my life mate, I found myself attempting to explain the existence of my belonging again. And it felt good.
