This is life! We try to balance the stones ~ they fall ~ we pick up ~ they fall again ~ we pick up again & move on! (stones can be depiction of thoughts, emotions, feelings, actions or anything that comes in our life.) What is important is don’t forget to enjoy this journey! Never let pain poison you. Be sweet as you are ~ always:)
Markhored _ HO HO
Under the starry sky sleeping for only 3 hours inside the sleeping bag, fetching water before the toilet, cooking your meal after long trekking, sitting on stones for hours, interacting with diverse people, getting ready without a mirror are all the things that I have not ever thought to experience. The wilderness camping days were the most out of comfort zone days in my life. It made me realize how much I have underutilized my potential, even being privileged by being born and raised in Lahore. Tears trickling down my face as I heard the story of the APS and cancer survivors, heart-melting down while conversing with the Hazara community, mind-blowing while listening to trainers of diverse fields, the quest for questioning igniting high while trekking with mentors, direction beginning to clarify in freedom bell activities, love for nature nourishing and much more. The experiences can not be explained in words. Mindfulness sessions opened a window to be a critic of our past, present and future. 55 delegates selected from all over Pakistan represented 16 districts and 13 languages with their unique cultures, depicted the true colours of our country. Their struggle stories helped me realized how to be grateful in every situation, how to cope up with the challenge when circumstances are not supporting you, and last but not least, how to be a responsible social being. I am glad that Markhor has given me a chance to explore the beautiful diversity of Pakistan. It is a wilderness where all cultural, social, physical, emotional and mental diversity interacts. The Markhor journey compelled me to surge the quest for unanswered question. It has trained me to explore the discovered and to discover the explored, listen to heard and heard the unheard.
Grandparents~ love & affection
Even if you do not spend a thousand hours in discussion daily, it does not mean the bond is not strong enough. Grandparents care and affection - a great blessing of Allah - can not be explained in words! You know someone is praying for you! You embrace every challenging task because you know someone is here supplicating for your eternal success!
To whom we'll call now before our exam night. To whom we'll share our success afterwards.
The one and only one Badshaho Jaesay Dada has left us in this worldly life for his divine abode.
What we have now are mere memories. One of the unforgettable memories I have is when, for my podcast assignment, I interviewed my grandfather. I am thrilled to hear today again, how he fully remembered all his past incidences. Ma Sha Allah!
Teaching in the Heart of Urban Slum
The moment I see a child not holding school bags but begging on streets — shakes me. I decided to do whatever I could, even a minor act of teaching one child. In my Summer break 2019, I devoted my time in volunteering for Alumni Development Program (ADP) at The Citizens Foundation (TCF), Secondary School Bedian Road, Heir Campus, Lahore. It was 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. three-week-long from June 24, 19 to 20 July 15, 19.
TCF vision of change through education ‘to remove barriers of class and privilege to make the citizens of Pakistan agents of positive change’ motivated me to volunteer for them. The reason I choose TCF for my volunteer experience is that TCF provides a well-structured volunteer program along with orientation and training. The aim of the ADP to motivate the TCF alumni for further studies captured my attention as most of their students after Matriculation left their studies.
As a volunteer at TCF school, I taught Mathematics to alumni students, conducted diagnostic tests, quizzes and in-class activities. From diagnostic tests, I realized some students were struggling with their basic math skills. One of the fundamental problems they were confronting is of language. They have studied in Urdu medium and ADP syllabus was in English. Before teaching I asked them the Urdu terms of symbols written on board and then translate it to English. To make this a fun activity I said to them I will learn the Urdu terms of Mathematics from you and you will learn English terms from me. In this way, the students became interested in knowing English terms otherwise hard for them.
When I made practice problems, I tried to connect math to the students’ interests. One of my favourite memories was when Bisma, a student I had been teaching for a week, shared with me she enjoyed the word problems about pets; I had created using her name. Then she formulated math problems for other students. It helped them to improve their math skills along with the self-development. When I asked the students to come on the blackboard, she raised her hand and enthusiastically to create math problems for other students. Another unforgettable memory is when on the way to school we were jammed in traffic due to rain and were late almost an hour, but all students were waiting while sitting in their classroom. One of the students, Bint -e- Kulsoom, still calls me and said she wants me to teach her in future too. Her wish is that I will come to their school again.
The part of the community service accomplishment that I’m most proud of is the visit I planned to the school library. Students could not issue books from the school library. I asked the administrative staff member to keep records of the students and allow them to issue book for at least one week. This visit was important for me as I tried to develop a habit of reading among students. For exchange of ideas after the library session the next day, I asked them to share their thoughts in class. To encourage them to get good grades in quizzes, I also gifted magazine to all the high achievers of the quiz.
Along with other volunteers, we conducted biweekly a hourlong informative and awareness sessions. In one session, I told them the story of the only woman who got Nobel Prize twice in two different fields ‘Marie Curie’. In another session, I shared the transformation story of Nadeem Hussain, a TCF alumni currently working as World Bank Technical Assistant to the Government of Sindh. The purpose of conducting such sessions was to motivate them to work hard despite all odds.
One and the half-hour journey in the scorching summer days: the journey to school for volunteer teaching while perspiring from head to toe in the van made me more patient and grateful person. Teaching could be challenging at times, but it taught me to appreciate others and be more willing to come in front when I see someone needs help. The grass-root level exposure in the challenging area of Pakistan developed a sense of gratitude in my personality and made me an empathetic observer.
It allowed me to explore the unprivileged sites of our country. On the way to school, in the heart of an urban slum, I came across broken roads where children were roaming around and playing with tires. On the flip side, students were also waiting for us in their classrooms. The huge campuses there did not provide a nurturing environment. I recognized that dedicated students do not deserve what they are getting.Though TCF is a great initiative of community service and making a difference in lives of many students belonging to unprivileged sites, I was shocked when I conducted a reading activity and some students of grade 10 unable to read simple words. I felt like the organization focus is on the increasing strength of students and not the quality of the education.
Why the mere focus is on quantity rather than quality? For advertisement? Getting more donors?

~”THINK! Before ITS TOO LATE``
Why do we think the way we do? Why world thinking is so poor? The all reasons could be summarised in the word "complacency''. We are completely complacent about the quality of our human thinking. We are so smug and satisfied with our existing thinking that we cannot see how poorly it serves us in the area of human affairs, creativity and design. More and more argument will not produce better ideas.
The true picture can be described in this phrase ''EXCELLENT---but not enough''. We're blocked and blinded by excellence. Our logic is excellent; our obsession with information is excellent----but these are not enough----. Thinking without values is meaningless, pointless and achieves nothing---for thinking then has no purpose.
We need to supplement our existing thinking methods with some additional thinking software. No amount of logical searching for the truth will produce a new idea..
Have you ever thought...
Every day when you wake up, have you ever thought?
Every night when you slept, have you ever thought?
The thought of feeling to be grateful! The life you are living is your -- you are not compelled, you are not helpless; you are not on the verge of vulnerable life.
She was standing at the terrace and she heard the voice “Utho, utho... mandi jana ha.” (Wake up, wake up... have to go to a farmer’s market) The dialogue was going on between two brothers whom are motivating each other to wake up and get themselves ready for another tiring day.
They have no choice as they have to make both ends meet. No, they have a choice! We all have choices in our life. Life is full of choices. “What we don’t have is TIME!”
Oh heart!
Why you confuse mind?
Oh mind!
Why you instruct the heart so much?
Oh Soul!
Why you quietly observe the quarrel?
'Art in Letting Go'
"There is an art in letting go. It's erasing the sketch you started to make room for drawing something better."
Why is that people repeat and repeat and repeat their daily affairs? Why we won't develop the habit of letting go the bads of daily small affairs?
How much time we wasted first in minimal daily affairs and, then explaining it to the others?
How good it will be if we all learn how to erase a sketch of daily affairs...?
Imagine a world where all have learned the erasing of daily sketches...
So why are thoughts...?
All of the time or most of the time your thoughts jumple.
Either jumple like wire or jumple like spaghetti.
Either softly or hardly.
So why we confuse..?
Either because of our thoughts or because of jumple thoughts.
Have you thought a difference between these two?
THOUGHTS &JUMPLE THOUGHTS!
Isn't it like that we confuse both?
