so like. as the main Crossover Doll defender (i don't think they're the Problem™ with AG atm, but more the barbification of Truly Me and lack of attention towards Historical dolls), uhhhh yeah making a doll of an irl person feels. Really fuckin weird and corporate. IDK anything about Megan Maroney, IDK anything about her art or who she is as a person, but this is a weird-ass move.

However I can say, that if it helps. I do not think this is gonna make money for AG. Because for some fuckin' reason, they decided to make her doll a Target exclusive or something? Which is ridiculous because, well, with the normal cost of making an American Girl doll, plus licensing for Maroney's likeness, plus shipping and handling and packaging, that's gonna EASILY be $200-300 per doll. And putting it in Target? Is gonna be insane because it's probably gonna go in the aisle with the Our Generation dolls being $30 per doll. Maybe $40 if they come with a set. Next aisle over are the Target-Exclusive Disney ILY 18in dolls, which are $35 and decorated with fucking Disney merch. Putting a doll ten times that price next to them for a celebrity that I'm not sure children are super into (maybe they are? idk?) means that thing is gonna be on that shelf for a very, very long time.

I’m very shocked that after all this time, there’s still not an official December birthday for these characters! Granted I get that the classic historicals had to have a spring birthday for consistency, but with Caroline breaking the mold on that, you would think they’d try.

Unless they give Daisy Davenport that December birthdate. Then again, that might be a little insensitive if she really is Molly’s descendant, considering that WWII technically started in December.
