          It was obvious that wasn’t what her question was-- he may not fully remember how everyone acted, but he was sure there wasn’t anyone on the ship that would approach him just to make small talk. Ron was genuinely surprised, however, if only because he hadn’t expected such a clear excuse to avoid her original purpose of talking to him. “How rare. I can’t say I’m asked that very much. But I’m doing alright, I guess... and, well,” he laughed slightly. “I think most everyone knows I’m not busy.”

     “…never mind.”

          “Ah, did you forget what you wanted to say?"

 “ huh? why don’t you trust other’s morals? sure…there are some bad people in the world, but there are also good ones. everyone here wants the best for each other, right? ”

          “If everyone here wants the best for each other, then why would we need to break off into pairs at the threat of a traitor? There's at least one person who doesn’t care about what happens to the others, and you never know if there’s more.”

  “ i can’t give this back to you. why can’t you trust my morals? ”

          “It’s nothing against you. I don’t trust anyone’s morals. As long as he doesn’t have the earring, I don’t mind what you do with it. The only real problem is with him having it.”

  “ i might depending on what you tell me. i don’t want kakeru-kun to be in danger… ”

          “Then I hope you’ll understand when I say it’d be a lot easier for me to just get it back than rely on your moral compass.”

    “ yes, about his earring. …what did you mean by it’s dangerous? ”

          “...Ah, right. That. But you know, there’s no real point in telling you. Unless you’re planning on destroying it afterwards?”
