OCEAN STORM IN A FISHBOWL, PAMEN PEREIRA

Madrid-based artist Pamen Pereira bottles white-caps and salty spray in projection-mapped bowl entitled Tampoco el mar duerme (Neither does the sea sleep). Footage after the jump:

Anthony McCall’s Line Describing a Cone (1973), now on view in Dreamlands, was first shown at the Whitney in 2001, in the exhibition Into the Light: The Projected Image in American Art 1964–1977 curated by Chrissie Iles. In the early 1970s, McCall made a group of film works that engaged the space of the gallery, articulating the beam of light from the projector as a sculptural form. In Line Describing a Cone a film showing a large circle being drawn is projected onto the wall of a darkened room. A thin mist is introduced into the space (originally cigarette smoke!), which makes the beam from the projector visible, as it gradually develops from a line into a large cone and the drawn circle is completed. Viewers move through the space, looking toward the projector, and experiencing a large volume created from the cone of light.
