How Do You Solve A Problem Like Amelia?

Finally finished transcribing Al Cohn’s version of Georgia (with the maestro Barry Harris on piano).

This is the first song I’ve transcribed on my own. It was a monster, but there is so much awesome stuff in this song and I’m so glad I did it.

Matching Al Cohn’s playing took some practice, and I’m almost there. His style is so relaxed, but so technical at the same time. A very underrated saxophonist who has become a favorite player to listen to.

Been surfing at this man made wave pool recently (URBNSURF). Such an awesome place. Consistent waves, welcoming and inclusive culture and a great vibe all round.

Had a great day surfing today at Torquay beach. Stood up a few times and rode waves for more than a split second. It was super fun.

Downside is that I hit some rocks with my foot, which is now quite sore.

Spent the day with an old rowing friend that I haven’t physically seen in 13 years. It was so great to reconnect.
