I finally finished the cover of the fic “Size Allergy” (stupid art block) 💙❤️💜🧡

Summary: After a day of camping in the Mystic Forest; Leo, Donnie and Mikey end up with incorrect sizes due to a mystic allergy and must wait a few days for the effect to wear off. Raphael and the whole family do their best to take care of the boys, while they have to try to get used to this bizarre situation.

This will serve from now on (unless I come up with a better idea) to be the post master of all things related to this AU...

I made a correction to the image I shared at the end of July 😁

It turns out that blue dwarfs are still considered living stars; I just got confused because they’re “hypothetical” stars, since they don’t yet appear within the current age of the universe 😅✨

These past few days have been really busy, so to relax, I decided to watch "A Bug's Life" with my boyfriend. I'd asked him a while back if we could watch it because it was one of the first movies I saw as a kid, and he'd never seen it.

Almost every time I show him something, he gives me a sort of review to tell me what he thought of it. And among all the things he said, he pointed out something that really sparked my imagination: “I was surprised that there weren’t any humans in it,” and that left me in shock because HE’S RIGHT

Almost all Pixar movies where the protagonist is an animal or creature end up involving some interaction with humans, but this one seems to be the studio’s big exception.

A day later, I started looking to see if there was any fanfic that touched on this topic, but I didn’t find any. To begin with, this is an old movie—one of Pixar’s lesser-known ones—so there aren’t many stories about it.

Well… That’s when I started brainstorming ideas where the insects might end up running into a human. But right now I want to focus on the other stories I’m writing, so I’ll leave a couple of ideas here in case anyone gets excited about writing a story about that (I feel like it could be really interesting G/T material 🤭)

Idea 1 = The Destroyed City

In the movie, the insects’ city is almost entirely built underneath a trailer.

What would happen if (for one reason or another) they ended up moving this vehicle from its spot? TOTAL CHAOS

Much of the city would be destroyed, and it’s very likely that many insects would die. As part of this idea, I envision the circus insects eventually returning to Ant Island after essentially losing their home; the ants take them in and even offer to help them in various ways so they can rebuild their lives.

Here, I assume that Flik would be the one most interested in helping them and might even be curious about whether the city can be rebuilt. My theory is that the insects do know about humans, but the ants don’t—after all, they live on an island that essentially shields them from the hostile outside world. So they’re even skeptical when the insects mention that there are creatures as big as the tree on their island.

Flik would be the most curious, and because of his nature—he always wants to help—he’d want to explore the outside world further. Maybe there are more cities? Do those giant creatures really exist? Is there a chance of making contact?

That’s the extent of this idea so far, and I really feel it could be taken in different directions, depending on what the writer wants to do with it...

Idea 2 = A Human Arrives on the Island

What would happen if a lost human reached the island’s borders? Based on my previous theory that the ants have never seen a human, the mere presence of a being so gigantic to them would cause total panic throughout their society. Confronting a bird requires a great deal of courage, but a human is completely beyond their comprehension.

At first, they’d just try to figure out how to scare the creature away, but when they see it end up breaking the eggs of a bird that had recently built its nest there, they’ll be torn between whether or not to go on the offensive. It sounds cruel for the human to kill some birds, but for the ants, this is almost a blessing—after all, the birds eat them.

I also imagine the human here as someone who’s disoriented—lost in the middle of nowhere with no food (which is why he broke the eggs)—and who drinks a little water from the river surrounding the island to quench his thirst. So at the beginning of the story, from his perspective, he hasn’t noticed the ants yet. I haven’t decided on his age or gender yet.

I feel like things could unfold in different ways here too, and that we could also bring back the circus insects with some excuse that I can’t think of right now (haha).

Will the ants interact with the human? Will they attack him? Will the human be friendly or aggressive? Will he discover that the insects are intelligent beings?

Anyway... Here's another idea you can play around with 😁

Bonus fact

If there were a way to communicate, I'm sure Flik would be the one most capable of making it happen. He might not be the one to speak, but he'd be the one capable of building something to establish communication where both species could understand each other.

It turns out I had to go out to buy some medicine I was running low on, and on my way back home, I decided to stop by a store to buy something sweet to eat later. Then a homeless person approached me to ask for food. I told him it was no problem and that I could buy him something, but the thing is, he followed me into the store and kept getting too close to me.

It’s not really about the guy—I just get nervous around any stranger who approaches me. Physical contact has always been an issue for me; in fact, I usually have a really hard time on public transportation during rush hour.

Anyway, in the end, I bought him something to eat and got what I wanted for myself. I handed him his share, and he tried to hug me, but I stepped back. He didn’t seem upset by that and left the store. I left quickly too, because I could already see the shop owner giving me a look (I had a feeling that if I stayed, she’d scold me).

I’m sharing this story here because I feel that if I told it to someone close to me, they’d probably say the guy was trying to rob me, but I don’t think that’s the case. At least, I got the impression that the guy was just as (or even more) clueless as I am when it comes to social interactions.

Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to know if you are working on Size Allergy new chapter or new page for a comic. Sorry if I'm annoying, so in fairness I show my one shot for you I wrote today (along with drawing) for you to enjoy it.

Hi! Don't worry, it's no trouble at all.

The truth is, I've been sick for almost the entire month. This year's winter in my country has been really harsh, and for some reason, it seems like I've become a magnet for illnesses. In fact, I'm sick right now 🥲

Honestly, because of the fever and fatigue, I haven’t been able to make any progress on my longer writing projects, or even continue working on the comic version (which already has 8 pages laid out, but only in terms of layout).

I’m writing and sharing little bits and pieces to get back into the swing of writing, and recently I managed to draw something on my tablet (even though it has nothing to do with turtles). I’m doing this mostly so I don’t lose my touch, but I haven’t done much because my fatigue makes me lose energy very quickly.

But I haven’t forgotten about Size Allergy—I just need to get back in the groove, because I already have the idea for everything that happens next ✨

And I read the story—I loved it 💕💕

Interestingly, I’ve never seen those movies, so it feels like an original idea to me, and honestly, you did a really beautiful job with it

Here's another one of my in-depth analyses of Rise, this time focusing on Donnie and offering a personal perspective on what his eating habits might be like.

I'll take his autism into account for this analysis, but it won't be a clinical assessment (since that's not my area of expertise); it will be more of an experience-based perspective.

An interesting point to note before diving into the topic is that people with autism who have dietary challenges tend to fall into one of two extremes: they’re either very sensitive to flavors and textures (which limits their food variety) or have very little sensitivity (so they tend to eat just about anything).

Here, I’m trying to figure out whether Donnie is more of a picky eater or, on the contrary, can eat a wide variety of foods.

Within the fandom, Donnie is often described as a picky eater—a character trait highlighted by the fact that the series shows he hates pineapple on pizza and likes flavorless juice.

However, throughout the series, there are more moments where Donnie seems to be someone who likes to eat everything than someone who is particularly picky (at least in this regard).

By this, I don't mean things like him liking Todd's lemonade, but rather eating foods that would be sensory overload if he really had a sensitive palate.

Take the scene in the episode “War and Pizza” where he gets hit with a cake—the first thing he does is lick it (I think that probably wouldn’t be the first instinct of someone with a sensitive palate).

Also, in the episode “Operation: Normal”, where he eats that disgusting pizza with Leo—even when April asks them to switch pizzas—he’s the one who insists on trying it.

And then there’s the sandwich he makes in the episode “Breaking Purple”; in this case, I’m particularly struck by the number of ingredients it has—quite a few, with a variety of flavors and textures.

I’d also like to point out that at the beginning of the episode “Portal Jaked!”, he tells his brothers he wants to try the new vegetarian pizza—which is curious, considering that soft-shelled turtles eat almost 100% meat. This shows a certain openness to new flavors and an interest in trying them, something that a person on the autism spectrum who is sensitive in this area would typically prefer to avoid.

Now, does this contradict his aversion to pineapple on pizza? Not necessarily; Donnie may have limited preferences regarding certain foods he doesn’t like, but the series seems to show that there are more foods he enjoys than those he doesn’t.

Here comes the comparison with my own case and that of another person with autism I know.

In my case, I have a low sensitivity to taste, so I tend to eat a wide variety of foods, and there are very few I refuse to eat.

The other person with autism I know is the opposite—he’s very sensitive in this regard. He eats only a few types of food and doesn’t usually mix them together; if he can eat a dish with just one ingredient, he won’t complain. He avoids restaurants or social situations that force him to try new foods, since he has little tolerance for the flavors and textures news.

Based on this, I’d say it seems that Donnie is more the type of autistic person with low sensitivity to taste, which probably makes him the one among his siblings who has eaten the most things.

Fun fact: People on the autism spectrum with this trait often eat non-edible things as kids (at some point, I got to taste grass, ants, dirt, and even wallpaper), and I think that’s why April and Splinter considered using his stomach to get rid of the Krang’s key 😅

Mikey

He can carry Raph on his shoulders, which would mean lifting between 198 and 220 pounds (my estimate of Raph's weight).

He is the one who displays the least amount of strength in the series, since almost all of it is attributed to his weapon.

Donnie

He can pick up a disc weighing probably between 33 and 44 pounds and throw it like a boomerang, with such force that it reaches the other side of the train car.

There are more scenes in the series that showcase his strength, but like Mikey, he pales in comparison when using his technology.

Raph

In this scene, he manages to send the entire league of mutants flying—six in total. I can't calculate exactly how much they weigh, but it's more than in the cases I mentioned earlier.

He's the brother who displays the most strength throughout the entire series.

Leo

He manages to block an attack without even flinching or bracing himself for it. He also lands blows so powerful that they generate shockwaves, knocking the mutant unconscious.

While he doesn't display his strength as often as Raph, his displays of power are surprisingly unexpected when they do occur.

Usually, in a series dominated by magic, we tend to overlook these moments. Spider-Man has super strength, but this is overlooked in a world with so many superhumans—the same thing happens here.

I'm an instructor at an astronomy club for kids at my local library, and (FINALLY) I picked up my tablet again because of this... I just couldn't find an image about stellar evolution that didn't seem confusing, oversaturated, or low-quality to me; plus, none of them showed everything I wanted to include.
