Honestly it was Interesting in its own way. To see Wooly doing this not for Hamlen but for himself was a surprise. I thought even if Wooly was an adult he HATED where he lived, that he was absolutely horrified by his environment; which would make a lot of sense for a normal individual. I mean raise your hand if YOU want to get a painful surgery with a scary ritual before getting your identity, body, freedom, sense of self, and many of your rights taken away; forced to live and endure a agonizing hell for eternity, causing you to slowly fall deeper and deeper into insanity while you can’t do ANYTHING about it but endure your misery and feel the real you rot away. No one?

But instead he caught the fears of growing up, the fear of facing reality to what it is. A feeling where you don’t want to accept that this is it and that’s what happens. That that’s life, and it’s never going to change. Why grow up and have an office job, pay taxes, yatta yatta when you can go on silly adventures? Make your favorite type of pie? Go on all your favorite type of rides and play all your favorite type of games forever! It’s an unhealthy and absolutely terrible coping mechanism, and In no way does it defend Marcus actions. But it does explain them.

The sad part? Amanda knew this. Amanda knew this and she tried to help him in her own way. She knew his self destructive behavior. Multiple we see her excluding him in small ways, pointing things out for him. She was trying to lead him back to the reality, and that reality is he ISN’T a child. This place ISN’T fun. He SHOULDN’T be playing games with them. Non of them should. She even tried to give him one more chance to make things right. The last tape, the birthday party, she asked Wooly to play with her. She asked him to join her, to fix this mess they were both in. To finally put both of them at peace

And he rejected her. Why? Because to him, growing up seems scarier than living in a world that wasn’t real. He’d rather stay in his little spot that can protect and keep him safe from the truth, even if it’s slowly killing him physically and mentally.

He’s ashamed with what he grew up to be, but it won’t stop him.

He didn’t like any of the procedures he was thrown into, and he is definitely traumatized for what happened. But the difference between him and Amanda is that for him, it was worth it.

He got an ending he’s always wanted.
