Artist Statement

My creation mainly divided into two series, one is the social series, which leads me to reflect the social environment question and the complicated interpersonal relationship. I use some familiar objects, materials and metals in daily life to complete the installation art of this series. The other is the nature series, which uses the plants, wind and light of nature as the creative background and inspiration to complete the installation art.

That photography is the only art that is natively surreal does not mean, however, that it shares the destinies of the official Surrealist movement.Surrealism is a pure spiritual unconscious activity of human beings. People can express this real process of thought in oral, written or other ways - free movement of thought without any control of rationality and without any aesthetic or moral prejudices. Based on Henri Bergson's said. people's most real feelings can be in the subconscious and dream. In contemporary art, the most obvious inheritance of surrealist style is contemporary photography. Many photographers choose to use different means to express their fantastic dreams, to create their "surreal". Camera has become a powerful tool for capturing fantasy images because of its instantaneous grasping ability and the virtual and real methods of real reproduction of the object. This method of shooting is called surreal photography. Artists use photography to express their own artistic conception different from others. They mostly follow Dali's grotesque wind and express some strange scenes that can not be seen in the objective world.

“Unlike the fine-art objects of pre-democratic eras, photographs don’t seem deeply beholden to the intentions of an artist.”In the art market, Impressionist and contemporary works of art always have higher auction prices and better market conditions. But in recent years, the international art market has gradually turned its attention to surrealist works.

what difference between painting and photography? no matter which painting method or school of expression you are based on, the essence of the image you see as a painting is the subjective product of human beings. At the same time, it also shows that the essence of painting techniques includes the understanding and expression of the objective world. whether I am drawing the objective things in front of me or the abstract images in my brain, as a painting technique, I have the first level of expression, while the image content served by the painting technique is the second level of expression.

The process of photography is quite different. The essence of photography is strictly objective. It is a way to grasp the objective world. We recall the principle of photography. Its essence is to project the light of the objective world into the "dark box" through the lens, and then record all this through the negative (photosensitive elements).

When I read this article, I think that digital reproduction is a popular trend. With the technology development, there is a no way to avoid digital reproduction.

According to the essay: “contemporary music collecting and the future of collecting contemporary art might eventually be more similar than different — this is the speculation of this text.” I agreed.

Because I guess people got one art or music.It not necessary for them to spend very expensive price to buy a very luxury stuff. Form and appearance are same. Rhythm and melody are same. Why I need to spent lots of money and energy to get the unique one? Let me think of some my experience. Last week , I want to join the Joe Hisaishi’s live piano concert. Because one things happened, I give up this thought. When I found a ticket in the morning. It only cost 69$.But when I finished my class and wait for my class end to buy the ticket. The price of ticket cost 399$. It is much higher than before and beyond my expectations，so I prefer listen the piano concert in my beats earphone. Even if the concert live atmosphere maybe good than stay at home to listen. I prefer save money to listen his music on phone and drink wine at home.

Digital reproduction both accelerates and shifts processes of textual of reproduction. Digital reproduction might be said to open up new spaces, social relations and domains of textual play. It affects the appearance of a new media. In the age of digital reproduction, material moves in different circuits at high speed.

Based on the article said: “The widespread catalyst for this change was a piece of software called Napster and how this software engaged people with peer-to-peer (p2p) file sharing. This was enabled by the internet and through a cultural shift in ideas about sharing media.”

The progress of technology is for the convenience of human life.Human are lazy. They can use one simple steps to get their aim. We want to connect and share the information with each other . Using this way, we save the energy and make some friend.The advantages overweigh the disadvantages.So, we did it.

Can an artist succeed at playing the gallery game and making work that is financially accessible for a wider audience? Can an artist avoid galleries entirely, make only digital mass-media work, and still support themselves?

In my point of view, “ you can't have your cake and eat it too"

if you want more audience, so your art must be digital reproduction. If you want earn more money from your audience, the number of your audience will be decreased.

It is contradictory. It is hard to get win-win situation. This remind me, lot of famous artist is very poor in his/her age. However, when he/she was dead. Their artwork become more and more precious. Their artwork starts to reproduction. They got very high popularity, but they didn’t earn lots of money.

There is no need to use art to accomplish anything that can be uttered by words.

How can contemporary art accurately convey ideas and make viewers feel them? Then this problem can be divided into two steps, the first step is the artist's communication, the second step is the audience's feelings. There is a saying that is appropriate here: the taste of an apple is not in the apple itself - the apple itself can not taste its own taste - the taste of an apple is not in the mouth of the person who eats it. The taste of apples requires a link between the two.

Disneyland is a favorite destination for many travelers, and I am no exception. Among all the play projects, I had a craving interest in Avatar that a person sat on a machine wearing a pair of glasses would feel personally on the scenes. Besides, Disney has a fireworks show every night, and as the fireworks burst, classic films were projected onto the Disney castle. The two projects left me a deep impression, and I always wondered that how did the simulation of real feeling come about. With this question, I began a journey of exploring the truth by reading various books and searched abundant information online. Finally I found the visual effect of Avatar and the method of mapping the animation to Disney castle was related to digital media, which was a new type of major combing computer technology and design art that including graphic design, interactive design, dynamic design and network multimedia and so on. I was deeply attracted by the knowledge and determined to discover in-depth theories in the area of digital media.

Four years education at Washington College and the University of Miami provided me with a good opportunity to gain a systematically study in the field of Media Management. Among all the required courses, I had craving interest in the course of Media Technology and Public Speaking. In the class, the professor guided us to view the incredible development of media technology in the future and how did human intelligence represent through digital media. For example, people did not even think about Google Glass before. However, just like the human brain can store photos and play back memories, now it can greatly improve the quality and efficiency of people’s life. Besides, 3D printing technique was also a media technology that used in many aspects of life. Recently, in the popular fashion industry, models wear clothes made of new materials printed in 3D. Through mastering 3D printing technology and combining it with beauty, my aesthetic judgment would also be enhanced. In addition, as an outgoing girl, I was good at communicating with different people and making friends. The course of Public Speaking was quite a useful course that offered me method and skill about communicating with people effectively. Along with the belief that constantly communication and collision will lead to a deeper understanding of the knowledge, I always participated in group meeting and exchange my ideas with classmates, which not only broadened my horizons, but also inspired me to find beauty in life from different angles. However, although armed with basic theories in media management, I found it could not meet my demands for discovering in-depth knowledge in the field. Thus I hope to further both of my specialized and practical capabilities in graduate study.

Apart from professional knowledge I gained in class, I also tried to understand the meaning of media and art in practice. I tried to apply the software techniques to media, aiming at bringing convenience to people’s life. For example, I created a platform about masterpiece appreciation and posted both famous phrases and insights into excellent literary works, such as The Old and the Sea and Walden online, aiming at attracting people to exchange and appreciate the masterpiece. In the beginning, I did not know how to write articles and draw readers, which motivated me to take the initiative learning. Firstly, I learned how to write interesting articles and appeal to the readers through making video and pictures. Secondly, I studied the knowledge of media operation and applied them to manage my reader platform. Through constant learning and improvement, my platform of masterpiece appreciation received more attention. On this basis, my friends and I established another two official accounts: Miami Foodie and Say, Foreigner. The former mainly introduced popular food and price discount of local restaurants in Miami, which not only allured the attention of students who enjoyed food, but also helped them get the discount and enrich their life. The number of fans was more than 6000 and continued to increase. The latter was designed to demonstrate how people in different countries and cultures understand the current events and popular culture in the form of video. This official account helped students have access to different cultures and improve their English proficiency. Its YouTube click rate was over 10000 hits and was expected to grow. What’s more, I actively participated in campus activities and shot videos of charity and promoting the school. From above experience, I realized that integrating diverse innovative ideas to make a satisfying work not only required accurate understanding of media, but also asked for software skills, communication ability, literary knowledge and teamwork spirit. It was a challenge to me at first. But with my ceaseless study and effort, I discovered the pattern and was enthusiastic to obtain deeper knowledge that was beneficial for my academic development and cultural exchange. In my view, digital media was a useful platform that opened the door to people’s communication. Therefore, I had a strong desire to acquire specialized theories in digital media in graduate study.

My thesis is “less is more. nature is best.” Temple Tea is a perfessional tea shop that is not only provide fresh tea but also bring people minimal and zen feelings. The logo was designed to reflect these qualities.
