Okay so we got bullied into a phone call with my MIL because, you'll NEVER believe this, but she's DYING. The stress of our estrangement has clogged her arteries. 🙄

Anyways, it went about how you would expect. She went on a million random tangents about things that didn't matter, and reminded us about ten times that she's "a good person." They begged us for pictures of the kids and told us what we wanted to hear when we communicated our concerns and boundaries. It felt like a lot of smiling and nodding, not a lot of introspection and actual steps towards change.

One of the concerns we brought up again is that she doesn't tell age appropriate stories. Last visit, Ms. 4 was so anxious about the stories she was telling. She told a story about this mythical creature called a "Woolybooger" (that apparently was told to her by her grandmother) that Ms. 4 is still terrified of to this day. My kid doesn't mention her grandmother, but WILL ask questions out of concern about the Woolybooger. Apparently my MIL prayed over traumatizing Ms. 4 with these stories, and God told her to write them as children's books. Soooo she's writing 20 children's books about the Woolyboogers that will also be pop-up books and also have a touch and feel component. Her publisher doesn't think 20 will be enough!

My FAVORITE part was when she thought it would benefit her to mention how she thought our kids consumed too much candy during her visit back in December. To which we pointed out it was candy that SHE purchased and then encouraged them to unwrap/arrange on a plate for "dessert." But apparently my children need to be concerned about their candy intake because addiction runs in our family and CHOCOLATE IS A GATEWAY DRUG.

She also brought up a concern that SEVEN years ago, at our wedding, she came over to congratulate me, and I said "What now?" to her. Which 1) I have no memory of and 2) Doesn't sound like me at all and 3) Was SEVEN years ago on a stressful day of my life. She also mentioned being upset she didn't get to eat near us during dinner which is insane because we didn't have a seating chart since we did food trucks for dinner.

My cousin invited us to her wedding, and the invite was addressed to "The 'Last name' Family." When I went to go RSVP on the website, there was my husband's name, my name, and two guests which I assume are the two girls... but now I'm second guessing.

My children are invited, right? I'm like super overthinking this, and I feel stupid texting her to ask.

Went to a new (to us) children's museum today, and it was so fun!
