It was rare that he traveled so quickly between Luoyang and Jianye, but he simply couldnât stand to stay. He hadnât gathered anything, even going so far as to leave most of his operating kit, the only things that had come with him were the few items Zhuo kept on his person at all times. A hastily written note had been scribbled for Zihuan, although he wasnât certain it would be read anytime soon. âI⌠made a friend, but had a falling out with a lover, who happened to be the fiancee of the friend I made,â the Cao royal responded honestly, perhaps a little too much so.
Taking a breath, Youmei stood, leaving an affectionate hand on his sisterâs shoulder. âHave you been well in my absence?â
As she listened to his story, concern brewing darkly behind her eyes, Zhui's face became a canvas of reactions. Â Zhuo very rarely seemed to be bothered by much of anything (unless one counted the almost constant confrontations with their brother, which could quickly become heated on both sides), let alone initiated talks in which he confided in her, and so the younger child of Zhu Ran was left to figure that something serious had happened.
I⌠made a friend
Well, that was wonderful news, at least! Â The spritely youth was always excited to hear about her elder brother forming bonds with others. Â He always seemed to be so alone.
...but had a falling out with a lover
Oh... Â So he had found someone, as well. Â But... Â Well, it was probably rather short-lived, if his time up there was anything to go by. Â If it was going to end, it was probably for the best that it did so quickly, right...? Feelings of remorse over her dear brother's failed relationship washed over her, a deeply protective feeling budding within her as she pulled him closer in comfort. Â Zhuo seemed to have such a hard time forging positive relationships with other people. Â She could never fathom why, except that perhaps it had something to do with his constant moves between Wei and Wu. Â Some people could be so suspicious. Â Perhaps separating from his lover had something to do with it...?
...who happened to be the fiancee of the friend I made.
. . . Oh.
This was the kind of thing Ji accused him of, wasn't it? Â Not that Zhui felt there was much basis in it, but hearing this... The much-shorter Zhu let out a long, quiet sigh, allowing her brother to rise. Â It sounded as though he really brought the situation upon himself, although regardless, he was still her beloved brother who was, at this moment, exhausted and upset. Â Personal feelings aside, it was her duty as his family to support him -- a duty she fulfilled genuinely.
"Youmei... Â I'm sorry to hear that. Â I'm sure you don't need my lecturing; you're more than intelligent enough to take responsibility for your own deeds. Â That aside..." Â A small, warmhearted smile took residence upon her lips, her eyes crinkling a bit at the edges as grey-tinted hues of blue settled upon sienna orbs. Â "Thank you for coming to me. Â I am... very happy to be worthy of lending an ear to my elder brother." Â The pale young lady's soft expression lit up at his question, obsidian locks bouncing once in affirmation. Â "And I am well, yes! Â Thank you for asking."
