Despite Caladan being the Wet Planet, for some reason I like to imagine the Harkonnens as being somewhat fishlike/reptilian/amphibious in their costume designs, hence Feyd's collar being gill-like and the scale pattern on his gauntlets

Irulan's hairstyle is based on Italian Renaissance portraits

I wanted her style to be a cross between classical/Renaissance and pre-Raphaelite looks, and minimalist avant-garde futurisim

(her lip jewellry was inspired by this kind of thing)

I imagine Chani's belt and necklace are water rings (possibly one is her own, while the other is Paul's...)

The emblem on Paul's coat is supposed to be the Atreides hawk (which in my bird obsessed mind is actually technically an Osprey??)
