on some days i miss london a wee bit (mostly the freedom & possibilities that come with a cosmopolis), though in other ways, i don’t miss it at all.

aiming to be back within a month, for a few more months there before i leave for good.

the batu caves – a limestone hill of several caves 13km north of kuala lumpur – are one of the most popular destinations for hindus outside of india as they contain several shrines. they are dedicated to lord murugan (kartikeya), the hindu god of war and son of shiva and parvati. murugan is primarily worshipped in areas with tamil influences.

a christmas tree lights up trafalgar square as the sewol protesters gather for their last protest of 2015 in cold wind and under grey skies.

on april 16, 2014 the mv sewol (세월호 침몰 사고) sank en route from incheon to jeju island, south korea. of the 476 people aboard – the majority of them students from danwon high school – 304 died. nine bodies remain missing.

every month since the disaster south koreans in london have been staging a silent protest in the heart of the city. their aim is to join ‘in solidarity with victims’ families and the concerned people of Korea who demand a thorough transparent inquiry’ (quote: remembering sewol disaster) due to the serious failures on parts of the crew as well as the south korean government both during the disaster and after.
