Another unfinished draft from 2023 and more cute doctor x reader moments.
Angain important that THIS IS AN UNFINISHED FIC and it will not be finished. I'm emptying out my drafts and this has enough of a story to be posted.
You left her alone for a day, well him now actually, you'd left the Doctor alone for a day (well a day for you).
You took one day trip and when you got back to earth there was an alien invasion and just as you were running up to the Tardis, just as you caught a glimpse of his face the familiar whooshing roared through the alley and in a moment he was gone.
You panted, hands on your knees as you tried to catch your breath.
"Hello Sylvia" You said between pants.
Donna's mother looked at you in confusion.
"Oh and you must be Shaun and Rose, Shirley's told me all about you" You said, straightening your posture once your breaths evened.
They all looked at you in bewilderment until Sylvia spoke.
"Do we know you?" She asked.
"Oh, right, different face from last time. My husband just ran off with your daughter... Again." You said and Sylvia's face glowed up with recognition.
"Y/N" She said.
---
Two days later Kate Lethbridge-Stewart escorted you through Unit Homebase to the helipad.
"I swear I ought to slap that man into a new face. Running away from me again." You grumbled. "He had the audacity to go and regenerate on his own knowing full well he never takes proper care of himself after and what does he do? He runs away from me after I finally managed to track him down. Again. Second time I've had to do this now."
Kate didn't seem to be calmed by your grumbles though.
"It'll be fine Kate. We'll fix this. We always do" You told her, finally making your way onto the helipad.
Shirley made it ahead of you, greeting the Doctor and Donna first.
Then Kate greeted them with a big hug and a worried expression and then you.
"Y/N" The Doctor said and you looked him up and down.
"You know I have half the mind to slap you so hard you regenerate again." You said and the Doctor smiled.
"What, just as I got my old face back?" He asked. He was right of course. You hadn't seen that face in so many years. The first face of his you ever saw, the one that rescued you.
You stepped up to him, holding his face in your hands gently.
"You brilliant man" You said, kissing him passionately on the lips.
Then you turned your attention to Donna. Sylvia, Shaun and Rose had told you everything that happened with the Meep but two days ago you hadn't even gotten the chance to say hello to Donna before she and the Doctor flew off.
"And Donna Noble" You said, smiling wide as you brought Donna in for a hug.
"Your face has changed!" Donna said, her tone somewhere between excitement and amazement.
"And you haven't changed at all" You said.
"I'm so glad to know your safe, Rose, Shaun and your mother are all safe and sound here with Unit" You told her and she smiled.
"Thank you" She said.
"Now come on, we have an earth to save." You told them, leading them back inside.
You'd made yourself very acquainted with Unit homebase. You'd spent your time between adventures helping Kate. Educating her staff as well as you could. After all who better to teach about aliens than an alien anthropologist?
"Stations. Gold protocols. The Doctor's in the room, report" Kate said as you all walked in.
One by one Unit's top ranking agents explained the total disaster the world had found itself in. Among them was an older woman by the name of Melanie Bush. Better known as Mel Bush. You'd met her before and she told you all about how she used to travel with the Doctor.
When he noticed her he was very happy to see her but she quickly refocused his attention on the task at hand.
People were being stretched to their worst.
You loved humanity, you fell in love with it over years of protecting their planet but they could be so awful. After the Time War you didn't think you'd see that level of depravity, of hate and greed and apathy for others but just like humans could always surprise you for the better, they could do the same for the worse.
A pilot had crashed his plane because he believed he had the right to land wherever he wanted.
Right of way on the road was a thing of the past. After all everyone believed they were right and therefore had the right of way.
Even the world's governments had cracked. Not even a drop of empathy remaining for their people.
The Doctor took out his glasses.
"But your all fine, your completely normal because of the..." The Doctor trailed off motioning to the metal armbands sitting just above everyone's elbows. Well everyone but yourself.
"It's called a zeedex, Y/N was kind enough to help us design it" Kate said.
"Really?" The Doctor asked, looking at you to explain your new invention.
"It's just an external mood suppressor. For some reason there have been sharp spikes in human brain activity and it causes well... Let's call them mood swings" You explained.
"Maybe you should look for yourself" You said, tapping away on the tablet in your hand.
"Or perhaps he should simply see for himself" Kate said and you looked at her, "No." You said.
"It's better to see it than to explain it" Kate said as she reached for her zeedex.
"Kate" You warned but she turned it off and knowing there was now nothing you could do to stop her you brought up a live brain scan of Kate's brain.
You'd been on earth when this madness craze took over, you saw Kate without her zeedex, you saw everyone who now had a zeedex without their zeedex and while you had no need for one you could only imagine it did not feel nice to have your mood shift that quickly and in such an unnatural way.
You pointed to the brain scan on the large screen Kate stood in front of.
"It's live" You told the Doctor.
"Well" Kate said and you saw her expression change in the most minute of ways.
"Um, hello" The Doctor said, "How are you?" He asked.
"Fine" Kate replied curtly.
"Busy day?" The Doctor asked wearily, still unable to really see the difference.
"Why do you want to know?" Kate asked defensively.
"I'm just asking, is that a problem?" He asked.
"It's an invasion of my privacy, in fact it's an assault on my civic rights and I think it's highly relevant that the person demanding information from me is an alien!"
"Okay" The Doctor said, having understood what you meant by mood swings.
"No, no, no, no, I think you'll find that I'm in charge here." Kate said, ripping the zeedex from her arm just as you were about to reactivate it from your tablet.
"We've been infiltrated by aliens. By a man with two hearts, a man who changes his face and cannot be trusted and the alien puppy-dog who follows him around the universe, willing to do anything for him at his beck and call" She said, walking up to you and getting in your face.
"You're his little mutt and you don't even care that he's married to someone else!" She said, pointer finger in your face.
"That's enough Kate." You said, handing the Doctor your tablet and using your hands to hold Kate back while other officers force her zeedex back on.
"No, you can't stop me! It's about time you heard the truth!" Kate yelled only to calm immediately after the zeedex was placed.
She took a deep breath.
"There you go, breathe" You told her, a comforting hand on her shoulder.
The Doctor joined you.
"I'm sorry" Kate said, holding her head in her hands.
"No, it's okay" The Doctor said.
"And Y/N, I am so sorry" She said and you straightened your mouth into a line. You won't lie and say it didn't hurt.
"Don't worry about it"
"It's not just me, brain activity keeps spiking like that inside every single person's head" Kate explained.
"But what's that mean? It's being beamed in from outside?" Donna asked.
"No, we've scanned for that, it's completely natural, all from inside the brain" You answered.
"But not me, Not grandad." Donna said.
"Nor me. I'm wearing a Zeedex just in case but I've been fine" Mel said and the Doctor turned to you.
"I don't have any way to explain that. You and me, we're not human, we've got different brains but..." You trailed off.
"But maybe long-term travel in the TARDIS put you out of sync" The Doctor suggested.
"Well, can't we just give everyone a Zeedex?" Donna asked.
You shook your head, "It's not 2010, this isn't ATMOS. Even without the brain spike or mood swings or whatever you wanna call it people are a lot more wary now. Constantly questioning even when they've been given answers. There are already conspiracies about the Zeedex" You explained, "People think it's all a ploy to microchip the general population."
"Can we filter the wavelength? Lose the background noise?" The Doctor asked and you nodded to Shirley.
"Sure, it gives us a strong coherent wave in the seizure focus peaking seven times." She said, brining up a diagram. The Doctor asked more questions, questions about what happened right before it started, how long it took to start, trying to figure out what the trigger could be.
Kate then told him about the KOSAT 5 satellite that launched from Korea two days ago. How it completed the international satellite chain allowing 100% of the world to go online.
"And before you say anything. We've already checked thoroughly, KOSAT is clean." You told him.
"And yet for the first time in history everyone on earth has access to a screen—" The Doctor said but Donna cut him off.
"What if it's a tune?" She asked and you all turned your attention to her.
"What?" You asked.
"Just give me a second because I spent six months teaching my daughter how to play the recorder till she said this is not who I am and that was the start of a whole other conversation, believe you me— But! If you isolate these seven peaks, like this..." Donna said, taking a blank clipboard and drawing five equal lines on it. On each line she drew a small dot where the peaks were on the screen leaving five dots on the lines and one bellow on each side. She showed the paper to the room.
"Maybe it's music" She suggested.
"A classic arpeggio" Mel said, taking a longer look at the drawing before singing "La, la, la, la, la, la, la".
Kate shuddered though it couldn't be because of Mel's voice. She was right on key.
"Can you sing that again please Mel?" You asked and she obliged once again singing, "La, la, la, la, la, la, la".
"I know that tune" Donna said.
"Me too, I know it from somewhere" Shirley agreed. She asked Mel for the notes and began searching.
"It's just a straightforward arpeggio. Everyone knows arpeggios. It's just a basic tune. The real question is why are we all reacting to this one?" Mel asked, looking right at the Doctor.
"I'm not" He said, "Y/N?" He asked and you shook your head.
"It's just the humans" You said.
"It's so familiar it's like it's been buried in my head for years," Donna confessed, "What is it?"
Just then a giggle following the same arpeggio as the spike came out of Shirley's computer and you all turned.
"I found the notes." She said.
"So it's not a tune, it's a laugh. The giggle in everyone's head" The Doctor said as you all convened around Shirley's computer.
"Where's this from?" You asked.
"This is Stooky Bill, the first face to ever appear on television. Put there by John Logie Baird himself. It's the first ever transmitted video" Shirley explained.
"But I've never seen it before so how do I know that laugh?" Donna asked.
"What if the very first image has been hiding in ever screen ever since... sneaking into your head, carving a wave—"
"And waiting for it's moment" You said, finishing the Doctor's sentence.
"But hiding how? If there were secret pictures inside every television we would have found it" Shirley said.
"Oh why cause you're so clever? Maybe Stooky Bill's a lot smarter than you" The Doctor told Shirley and then he turned to face you, taking out his new sonic screwdriver.
"Imagine... If he burnt himself into television itself and every picture ever since, every single one. Screen—" He pointed the sonic screwdriver at one of the computers, turning the screen to the video of Stooky Bill. "—After screen,"
"After screen." You understood, taking your own sonic probe out and bringing out Stooky Bill's image on the big monitor.
"Laughing at the human race and driving you mad" The Doctor said.
"But it's not only this giggle, don't go thinking you've got an excuse. The human race might be clever and bright and brilliant, it's also savage and venal and relentless. All the anger out there on the street the lies the righteousness that's human, that's you. That's who you are. Using your intelligence to be stupid, poisoning the world and hating each other, you never needed any help with that. But today something else is using your worst attributes to play with you. Like toys"
Sometimes you forgot just how old the doctor was and just how much the Doctor has seen. When you first met he was only a few hundred years older than you. With Timelord lifespans that's practically nothing but now, now He was over a billion years old and sometimes when he spoke you could hear all the anger and the passion of a very old man who had seen far too much.
"Can we take that satellite out?" He asked.
"All missiles are on lockdown but we've got the Galvanic beam" Kate said.
"What range?" He asked.
"It can pick off a pebble on the moon" You answered.
"The trouble is taking out a satellite will have international consequences so we've been waiting for permission but all world leaders have been affected by the giggle" Kate explained.
"You have my permission" The Doctor said and Kate nodded, immediately moving to hand out orders to her staff. You noticed Donna wanted to hang around, to ask why he could make that decision but the Doctor gave her a look and she left to join Kate and leaving the two of you alone for the first time since he regenerated.
"Hey" He said, leading you into the corridor so that you could have some privacy.
"Hey" You said back.
"What Kate said—"
"It's true" You said.
"Don't say that" The Doctor replied.
"But it is. I would do anything for you Doctor but recently it's like— Like all i can do is run after you, barely keeping up"
"Y/N"
"When we met I would run by your side. I was there for everything but then..." You thought about what changed. When did it even change?
"You go so fast" You said, almost lamentingly and the Doctor took your in his arms.
"You are not a puppy-dog" He said, "And you are no mutt and you know that earthly understanding of marriage is different. I love you and I always have." He said.
"I know I didn't always say it like this but, I love you with all my lives Y/N" He said, his voice cracking slightly. You cupped his cheek in your hand. You liked this more emotionally communicative version.
"I love you too, and I always will" You said, giving him a quick peck.
"Now go save the world love and I'll look out for everyone earthside." You told him and he smiled. Stars above you'd missed that smile. The first smile of his you ever saw. You loved all of his faces but this one, this one will always hold a special place in your hearts.
After he left with Donna to find the original Stooky Bill you finished prepping the Galvanic beam and you shot down the KOSAT 5 satellite.
"Do you think this is it? This will bring us back to normal?" Kate asked you quietly. You'd known her all her life in a very strange timey wimey way.
"Have you humans ever been normal?" You asked her.
"No I suppose not" She said.
"There is no normal Kate. But we can hope that without this satellite and with Whatever the Doctor finds in 1925 the world will go back to the way that it was before this new madness." You told her.
The main monitors flashed the words signal terminated. The satellite was gone and the room filled with applause but it was far from over.
"Keep an eye on that" The Doctor told Mel as he strutted into the room, giving her a large red wooden box.
As he passed you the look in the Doctor's eyes worried you.
"The satellite was only a link in the chain, so Donna needs access to the subframe. There is no one in London faster on a keyboard. She's creating a template to coordinate all telescopes and satellites in deep space scans across the earth.
Y/N, I need you to translate all mesh reflectors we have into digital five" He said and while you took over a computer station and started typing you looked up at him one more time.
"Love with that tone you're starting to worry me"
"Something entered this world in 1925, I don't know how. And I warn you this thing can get from 1925 to know like stepping through a door. But If we're lucky the program I'm giving us can detect the decay of an energy signature from 98 years ago. Might be on earth, might be in orbit, might be in space— But if we can find the entrance maybe we can turn it into an exit." The Doctor explained.
"What are we fighting?" Kate asked.
"An elemental force beyond the rules of the universe." The Doctor answered.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Shirley asked and the Doctor took a breath, as if trying to decide how best to explain such a complicated problem. To be honest, you had no idea what he was talking about. You had never heard of such a thing.
"You think life is a balance between order and chaos but the universe is not binary. far from it. There is order and chaos and then there is play" He said and as he spoke a melody filled the room, getting louder and louder.
I'm emptying the old works in my drafts, I started this in 2023 when I started writing this series and since then I like to think I've gotten better at writing. Still this is a nice little addition, that being said: THIS IS UNFINSHED and I won't be finishing it. I very lightly edited it but that's it so if you read this... Enjoy!
You were thrilled to be reunited with Martha.
It's not that you disliked Donna, quite the contrary, you found her lovely and you loved how she teased the Doctor just like you used to but Martha Jones will always hold a special place in your hearts. And of course you loved to see her happy. You were aware of her crush, her unrequited feelings for the Doctor but you were so glad she found someone else who loved her just like she loved them.
You were supposed to just drop her off. Donna wanted to go check on her family after the great big failed sontaran takeover but Martha was steadfast in her decision to stay on earth.
The Tardis on the other hand had other plans.
The previously open doors locked as the Tardis launched into the time vortex shakily.
You held onto the edge of the console, extending one hand behind the Doctor to try and stop him from falling.
"What?" He exclaimed.
"Doctor don't you dare!" Martha said.
"No, no, I didn't touch anything" He said.
"He's a bad pilot but not this bad" You said, switching your full attention to the console as you tried to take back control.
"We're in flight it's not me!" He explained, furiously studying the console's screen.
Martha turned to you, struggling to hold onto the console.
"Y/N, make him take me home!" She said.
"It's not him, we're completely in autopilot and it's not budging!" You said, turning switch after switch and lever after lever to try and get control back.
Then, with a spark of the console the Tardis landed. You looked at the Doctor, he wore the same blue suit he did when he met you. As he took in some deep breaths you stole the console screen from in front of him.
You barely got to read your current location before he was dragging you out of the Tardis.
"Why would the Tardis bring us here?" The doctor asked looking around.
you were in some kind of man made passage, though the lack of windows meant you had no idea if you were below or above ground. Trash lined the walls, bits of tin and old fences with barbed wire were scattered around.
"Well someone dragged me away from the console before I could get a proper read of our location" You told him, hands on your hips. "I can tell you it's not earth though."
He didn't seem to notice your scolding tone, instead choosing to smell the dirt.
"I can tell it's not earth" He said and you rolled your eyes. You wanted to tell him to scan where you were with his screwdriver but you were interrupted.
"Don't move! Stay where you are!" Three young men ran at you, they were soldiers by the look of their uniforms and the large guns they were aiming at you. "Drop your weapons" Said the first young man, he had light brown scruffy hair as opposed the the black and blond hair of the young men behind him.
You all put your hands up, "We're unarmed, look no weapons, never any weapons, we're safe" the Doctor said beside you.
He looked at you for a moment and you knew immediately what he was thinking, seeing soldiers this young was never a good sign.
"Look at their hands, they're clean" One of the other soldiers said and you heard Donna turn to Martha and ask, "What's wrong with my hands?".
"Process him first." The brunette man said and his colleagues quickly came up to you and dragged the Doctor off.
"Stop!" You yelled though your voice was ignored just as the Doctor's own requests were.
The soldiers brought him to a large grey machine and forced his right hand in, clamping the machine shut.
"Get your hands off of him! What do you think you're doing?" You questioned, following him. Frankly, you didn't care about the gun the brunette soldier was pointing at you.
"Stand back" He said.
"Tell me what you're doing to him." You demanded.
"Everyone gets processed" He simply said as he gave the other soldiers their guns back and suddenly the Doctor screamed.
"You take him out of there right now do you hear me?!" You yelled at them.
"Y/N, what's it doing to him?" Donna asked.
"It's taking a tissue sample" The Doctor said, answering for you before immediately groaning in more pain.
You stepped towards him, putting a comforting hand on his back and trying to get him out of the machine but all three soldiers pointed their guns at you.
"Step back." They all said.
You stood firm.
"Y/N, do as they say" The doctor said and after meeting his eyes you did as he said.
Within seconds the machine released him and you quickly took his hand in yours to examine it.
"Let me look at that Love" You told him, nothing seemed to be wrong except for the large cut on the back of his hand.
"Are you alright?" Martha asked, taking a look at his hand as well.
"I don't know" The Doctor answered honestly, his gaze wandering to the large blue pod the machine was connected to.
"That's—" He was cut off by the opening of the pod doors.
A girl walked out, long blond hair in a ponytail, black trousers, a thick belt and an army green T-shirt.
You looked between the Doctor and the girl and then between the girl and the cut.
The brown haired soldier gave the girl a gun, telling her to arm herself and you once again looked between this girl and your love.
"They wouldn't" You murmured.
"Where did she come from?" Donna asked the Doctor.
"From me" The Doctor said, looking in awe as the girl checked the cartridge of her gun expertly.
"From you? How? Who is she?" Donna asked.
"Well, she's— she's my daughter" The Doctor said.
The brown haired soldier took the girl— the Doctor's daughter— with him further into the passage. You somewhat heard them talk about her military knowledge but couldn't make out most of it as they stepped away.
"Did you just say daughter?" Donna asked.
"Technically" The Doctor said.
"Technically how?" Asked Martha.
"Progenation, reproduction from a single organism. It means one parent is biological mother and father" The Doctor explained.
"It's very rarely used. In fact it can be dangerous for species that reproduce sexually." You added, taking another look at the cut on the Doctor's hand and then at the blond girl that came from that tiny tissue sample.
"Though I've never seen it done this fast" You added.
It wasn't long before more sounds of boots hitting the ground approached and shots began to fire.
"It's the Hath!" Exclaimed the brown haired soldier, one of the other soldiers had called him Cline.
You pulled Donna down to the ground while the Doctor led her back and away from the fighting.
You reached into the pocket of his coat and took his sonic screwdriver, pointing it at the attacking aliens as you tried to take cover.
"What are you doing? You've got your own sonic" He said.
"Your life sign scanners are better than mine" You said, trying to get a reading on these so called Hath.
They had already killed the black haired soldier.
"We have to blow the tunnel, get the detonator!" Yelled Cline.
"We're not detonating anything" Said the Doctor as he dragged you further back to relative safety. He only turned back when he heard a muffled scream. Martha, who had tried to take cover behind some tin scaffolding had been captured by one of the Hath.
"Martha!" The Doctor called out only for the blond girl whom you still struggled to think of as the Doctor's daughter to hit the detonator.
As explosions roared behind you the Doctor took your hand and ran further into the cave along with Donna, his daughter and the brown haired soldier known as Cline.
The bombs sealed off the tunnel.
"Why did you do that?" The Doctor questioned the blond girl.
"They were trying to kill us" She said back.
"But they've got my friend" He said and you put a hand on his shoulder.
"We'll get her back love" You said.
"Collateral damage" Responded the blond, "At least you've still got them, he lost both his men, I'd say you came out ahead" She said, gesturing towards Cline.
"Her name's Martha, and she's not collateral damage, not for anyone. Have you go that? G.I. Jane?" Donna said.
"We don't trade lives. That's not how this works." You told her. The face she made was almost familiar. A part of you hated that, hated seeing his expressions on her face.
"I'm gonna find her" The Doctor told you, turning around only to face down the barrel of a gun.
"You're not going nowhere. You don't make sense you three, no guns, no marks no fight in you"
"I'm taking you to General Cobb" Said Cline. He led the way.
Donna and the blond daughter of the Doctor walked in the middle and you walked beside the Doctor in the back.
His face was drawn and his hands were stuffed in his pant pockets. You knew why. You didn't say anything to him, simply wrapping your arm around his elbow and kept walking.
"I'm Donna, what's your name?" Donna asked the blond girl.
"Don't know, it's not been assigned" She replied.
"Well, if you don't know that what do you know?" Donna asked.
"How to fight." The blond said matter of factly.
"Nothing else?" Questioned Donna.
"The machine must imbed military history and tactics but no name. She's a generated anomaly." The Doctor said and you gave him a look.
"What?" He asked but you shook your head. He didn't have to be rude.
"Generated anomaly" Donna said, getting a feel for how the words sounded on her tongue, "generated".
"Well, what about that? Jenny" She suggested.
The blond girl thought about it, "Jenny, yeah I like that. Jenny," said Jenny.
"What do you think dad?" Donna asked teasingly.
"Good as anything I suppose" He said.
"Not what you call a natural parent are you?" Donna asked.
It was how they communicated her and the Doctor. through teasing and light jabs.
"They stole a tissue sample at gunpoint and processed it. It's not what I call natural parenting" The Doctor told Donna. In moments like these you found it better to just give them their space so you let go of the Doctor's arm, he frowned slightly but let you move up to walk beside Jenny.
"I'm Y/N" You said, introducing yourself and holding out your hand for her to shake. She did.
"Jenny" She said back and you smiled. It was good she felt connected to her name already.
Meanwhile the Doctor and Donna's conversation continued.
"-rubbish my friend Neris fathered twins using a turkey baster, it doesn't bother her" Donna retorted.
"You can't extrapolate a relationship from a biological accident" The Doctor said.
"Uh, child support agency can" Donna said back.
"Look, just cause I share certain physiological traits with simian primates doesn't make me a monkey's uncle, does it?" The Doctor questioned.
"I'm not a monkey or a child" Jenny said.
You put your hands on your hips and looked at the both of them. You didn't even have to say anything for the Doctor to look down. He knew that look well, you'd used it plenty of times since you last regenerated. Sometimes he missed when your face couldn't call him out as easily with just the raise of an eyebrow.
You all continued to walk.
"Cline, perhaps you can tell us what planet this is?" You asked the soldier, doing your best to change the topic.
"Messaline, well what's left of it" He answered.
He led you all into an old theater, though it barely looked like a place you'd put on a play. There were crates of supplies everywhere, beds, guns and another pod like the one that made Jenny.
You were introduced to General Cobb who led you around their camp. He explained that all they knew was war. Messaline was supposed to be a colony for Human and Hath alike but that dream had apparently fallen apart quickly and the pod's purpose was changed from creating colonists to making soldiers. The battleground for this war being a city dug into the dirt of the planet Messaline.
"How long has thing war gone on for?" The Doctor asked.
"Longer than anyone can remember, countless generations marked only by the dead" General Cobb answered.
"And this entire time, no one's come up with a system for keeping track of time? You didn't bring one with you when you all came to colonize the planet?" You asked. It didn't make sense.
"There's no way to tell from under the ground and the surface is too dangerous" Cline said.
You looked at the Doctor, these may not be the most advanced humans but with the technology in the progenation pods you were sure they would have been able to make a simple rotation clock. Something was wrong.
"Do you have a map of this underground city you're fighting in?" You asked and General Cobb nodded.
"I will show you" He said.
General Cobb led you to a holoprojector that showed an image with a bunch of interconnected tunnels and rooms.
"Does this show the entire city including the Hath side?" The Doctor asked, putting on his glasses. You loved when he used his glasses.
"Yes" Said General Cobb. "Why?"
"Well, it'll help us find Martha" The Doctor said.
"We've more important things to do, the progenation machines have powered down for the night shift but as soon as they're active we could breed a whole company from you three" Cline said and you immediately furrowed your brow.
"I think you're greatly overestimating our willingness to donate tissue samples." You told him.
"Yeah, I'm not having kids with some great flipping machine" Donna said then she turned to Jenny, "Sorry, no offence but you're not, well I mean you're not real" She told her.
Jenny laughed offendedly, "You're no better than him! I have a body, I have a mind, I have independent thought, how am I not real? What makes you better than me?" She asked.
"Nothing." You told Jenny, "No one here is better than anyone else but taking tissue samples at gunpoint and forcibly breeding so many humans is both dangerous and unethical. In fact it's also dangerously unethical!" You said.
"It doesn't matter, it's the only way we might ever be able to find the source" General Cobb said. That caught the Doctor's attention.
"Ohh, source, what's that then? What's the source? I like a source, what is it?" He asked.
"The breath of life" General Cobb answered.
"And what is that?" You asked.
"In the beginning the great one breathed life into the universe and then she looked at what she'd done and she sighed" Cline explained.
"huh, she, I like that" Jenny said, evidently the colonists religious beliefs weren't a part of the knowledge the pods embedded in each child it made.
"Right, so it's a creation myth" The Doctor said and you elbowed his side lightly, he may have been traveling the universe for 600 years longer than you but it was evident he had no idea how to at least appear unbiased when learning about local beliefs.
"It's not myth, it's real" Said General Cobb, "That sigh in the beginning of time it was caught, kept as the source. It was lost when the war started but it's here. Somewhere. Whoever holds the source controls the destiny of this planet." General Cobb explained though partway through it seemed the Doctor lost interest. He was looking at the map very closely.
"Ahuh! I thought so, there's a suppressed layer of information in this map" The doctor said.
"If I can just—" The Doctor reached into his pocket only to find his sonic not there.
"Y/N—" You handed him the sonic before he could finish the sentence, "If I can just," the projection flashed and another set of tunnels appeared on the map.
"What is it? What's it mean?" Donna asked.
"A whole complex of tunnels hidden from sight"
"That must be the lost temple, the source will be inside. You've shown us the way, and look, we're closer than the Hath. It's ours" Said General Cobb.
This new information invigorated him and you all followed him as he walked, giving his soldiers new orders. They were moving out.
The Doctor put away his glasses and you frowned.
"I like those glasses, you should wear them more" You told him.
"These people are about to go to war is this really the time for flirting?" He asked.
"It's not flirting, it's a request" You told him, smiling.
When General Cobb stopped the Doctor managed to catch up with him.
"—once we've reached the temple peace will be restored at long last" General Cobb told one of his soldiers before dismissing him.
"Call me old fashioned but if you really wanted peace couldn't you just stop fighting?" The Doctor asked.
"Only when we have the source" Answered General Cobb, "It'll give us the power to erase every stinking Hath from the face of this planet."
"Hang on, a second ago it was peace in our time now you're talking about genocide" The Doctor exclaimed.
"For us that means the same thing" replied Cobb.
"Then you need to get yourself a better dictionary and when you do, look up genocide. You'll see a little picture of me there and the caption will read over my dead body!" Yelled the Doctor.
Donna watched as he spoke. She'd yet to see the Doctor like this. She looked at you as if asking what was going on? What happened to him? But all you did was shake your head.
Another time.
"Yet you're the one who showed us the path to victory" Said Cobb, "You can consider the irony from your prison cell."
The cell you were all put in was rather large, it even had a little bench to sit on. That being said with Cobb's base being a theater this probably wasn't even supposed to be a cell.
The Doctor, with all his wit and imagination remembered Donna had a cellphone and used it to call Martha (after a minor sonic upgrade).
Martha was alive. That already calmed both you and him down. It seemed the Hath were treating her well and she explained they too found the secret tunnels hidden in the map. The maps were connected and when The Doctor unlocked them on Cobb's map they appeared for the Hath's as well. The downside being, the Hath were now also marching towards the temple.
You hadn't said anything, not since you were all put into the cell. Partly because you didn't have anything to add and partly (mostly) because you were in your own head. The Doctor would find a way out, you didn't have a doubt in your mind about that and he would rescue Martha, you knew that for sure so you decided to try and crack the time problem. How long has this war been going on? The myth of the source and the temple led you to believe it had to be at least a few hundred years seeing as Cobb said the war's been going on for generations but they had no time system. They'd mentioned the day and night shifts meaning they knew where in the rotation cycle they were but they weren't keeping track?
Then there was the issue of the numbers above the passageways. Donna had first noticed them, they had 8 digits each and Cobb had said they were the ancient rites of their ancestors. Symbols whose meanings were lost to time.
You're stomach suddenly felt warm, then the pain came crashing through.
You let out a wail of pain, chakra coarsing through your hands as you killed the ninja who had stabbed you.
Kakashi stumbled beside you. You had jumped in the way of that blade. A blade meant for him. And now blood was pooling in your grey ANBU flack vest.
Your knees became unsteady and you could feel youself falling as you grasped your stomach, trying to apply enough preassure to stop the bleeding.
Before you could hit the ground you felt a pair of strong arms take a hold of you.
The white haired ninja stuttered trying to get out words. Why? Why would you jump in like that? What kind of idiot would sacrifice their life needlessly like that. Why did you care if he lived or died. The scroll the two of you were sent to steal was in your bag, even if he was captured or killed it would be of no bearing on the mission. Instead you stupidly jumped in front of that blade to save him.
Why was someone like you even in the ANBU?
"Have to... get, get back to the village" You mumbled out and it snapped him out of his thoughts. He could sense more pursuers. Taking you with him would slow him down... For the mission it was best to.
"Damn you" He said, taking you in his arms and jumping into the trees.
Every jump revived the flame of pain in your stomach but you stayed silent. Cries of pain would lead the enemy to you.
You don't remember how long after you passed out but when you woke up you were back in the village, specifically in a hospital room, bandaged up with an IV in your arm and a mop of white hair laying at the side of your bed.
As he turned his head in his sleep you saw his right eye puffy and bruised.
"Kakashi" You said, voice hoarse and weak but it woke the young ninja in a start.
I'm not actually back but I am so mad watching Boruto that I'm coming back just to rewrite it.
I'm gonna start with the fact that I actually like Boruto, kind of. I like the idea of it a lot more than the execution but I think as far as next generation stories go it has a better base than a lot of others.
That being said Here's how I'd change things to be more interesting and not just a rehash of Naruto.
First of all I'm changing the timeline. Apparently Canon Boruto happens "more than ten years" after the 4th Ninja war whichm yeah no shit.
But that makes no sense with Mirai's age, Boruto and Sarada's ages or the technological advancements we see.
Instead our show takes place 16 years after 4th Ninja War and 7 years into Naruto's time as Hokage. (this is where I voice my anger at the Hokage Inauguration special because Boruto and Himawari look like they're at the start of the series and there's no way that's right.)
Anyway, 16 years after the 4th Great Ninja War Boruto Uzumaki is 11 years old and he and Sarada are about to graduate from the academy. We'll get back to them.
Right now I'm getting rid of scientific ninja tools, because what do you mean in "more than ten years" we go from messages between villages being dilivered by hawk to handheld video games?!
No.
The newest technology in my rewrite is a telegraph and the thunder train.
Under no circumstances will I allow five kage summits to happen via Zoom.
Back on topic, having the show take place 16 years after the end of shippuden gives our characters enough time to actually grow up, get married and have kids without making Naruto and Hinata date for like a year before Boruto is born. Which is stupid.
On the topic of ages though, our main group of kids is gonna be a little different.
Boruto and Sarada will be around the same age at about 11 years old while the next generation of Ino Shika Cho is gonna be a year older than them, already being genin at the start of our new show.
Inojin, Shikadai and Chocho are also going to be a bit different than they are in cannon Boruto.
Firstly, Chocho's mom is going to be a civilian. There's really no reason for Choji to marry Karui when I don't even remember them fighting together in the war arc.
I personally think it would be cute for Choji to fall for the daughter of the Barbecue restraunts owner (it can be a whole thing where they meet because he goes there with Shikamaru and Ino to remember Asuma and they bond over their fond memories of the resteraunt). Either way no Karui.
Inojin and Shikadai only readdly change in how their story arcs play out, with Shikadai's mom still being Temari (though she would have a larger part to play in the village politics as a sort of ambasedor from the sand) and Sai still being Inojin's dad.
You can fight me Sai and Ino make a cute couple if they're written well, we just don't see them written well.
Really I'm just giving Shikadai and Inojin a shared feeling of being torn between two sides of their family. Shikadai between the sand and the leaf and Inojin between the Yamanaka clan and his father.
Specifically we would see this through their struggles as the heirs to their clans to find a balance in their parent's signature Justsu.
For Shikadai this would manifest in him dressing with more influence from the sand village as well as feeling the preassure of being both the heir to the Nara clan and (for most of his childhood) the heir to the Kazekage clan.
With Inojin it would manifest as a struggle between Sai's super beast scroll, which comes easier to him, and the Yamanaka clan's mind transfer justsu which he must master as the heir to the clan and the next leader of the barrier team after Ino.
To wrap up their team, instead of Moegi this Team 10's Jounin captain would be Konahamaru, following the tradition of Sarutobi's teaching Ino Shika Cho.
Now we come back to Team 7. Boruto, Sarada and not Mitsuki.
Sorry to any Mistski fans but I see no place for gim in this rewrite. Instead the first main "arc" of this much calmer and more slice of life version of Boruto would be deciding the final member of this new Team 7.
This new Boruto show would focus a bit more on the adults along with the children and would start with the challenge of Naruto trying to build his son's team.
This is alos a great place to mention that I would change Boruto's relationship with his dad a bit. Mostly because after 7 years he would be somewhat used to his dad's busy schedule and with the big change that while not making too much extra time for his family, the time he does spend with them is stpent in person. No more shadow clones at home.
Their relationship is still rocky but instead of rage Boruyp would have more quiet disapointment in his dad.
We'd also see more of Sasuke because no matter what the Boruto writers will try to tell me you cannot convince me that the boy who watched his brother murder their parents would leave his daughter alone for so long he doesn't recognize her face.
Would he be a good dad? No.
But that's because he has the emotional range of a cucumber not because he's absent.
Anyway after some deep dives into Boruto and Sarada's classmates the Team 7 (actually Team 18) would consist of Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha and a member of the Aburame clan!
Why? Because we're getting rid of whatever it is they're trying to do with the whole Karma power plot and just giving Boruto a Byakugan.
Together Aburame insects, the Byakugan and a Sharingan Team 18 would be able to track down and immedietly take down anyone.
Especially with their Jounin captain, the newly promoted Mirai Sarutobi.
Why?
Because she's wasted being a side character and I love her.
Also I think it would be cool for Sarada, unlike Sasuke to favor Genjustu like her uncle Itachi and Mirai would be the perfect teacher for that.
The rest of Boruto and Sarada's class would be mostly relegated to side characters that pop up once in while but it's fine casue our cast also features our grown up Konoha 12. We're not lacking for leads.
the first main bit of the show would follow Team 18 as they train and try to become their own kind of ninja. I'm imagining something in a very similliar vain to the early seasons of My Hero Academia with a heavy focus on inter character interactions and the action coming from mostly low stakes training instead of for example world ending aliens. like cannon Boruto did. Feel the sarcasm drip from that sentance.
I hate the entire Otsostuki plot.
A fun bonus of not having our main characters fight a world ending threat is that we don't have to nerf Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura so much that they look like Kushina in Road To Ninja.
That is to say, all of the small missions and training intersperces with personal growth and actually delving into the feeling that you can never live up to your literal war hero parents so you have to find something new for yourself would bring us the final arc. The Chunin exams.
Why final? because Brouto does not need to be so fucking long.
The Chunin exams would allow our characters to show just how much they've grown as ninja and also as people, we would see Shikadai and Inojin finding a balance between their parent's signature Justsu and something completley their own, we'd see Boruto and Sarada grow as friends (like we see in canon Boruto) as well as finding their niche well outside of their father's legacy. Unlike in Boruto where they spam their dad's signature moves like we're in an Ultimate Ninja Storm Game.
Seriosuly let these kids be their own people.
and we'd get to see my beloved Gaar who I honestly wouldn't change anything about because he's perfect, though maybe his hair but that's it.
We'd get a little dessert of knowing the world of Naruto is in good hands. The next generation are thriving and our favorite characters indeed got their happily ever after.

Essek: "...and so we haven't actually had dinner to ourselves for 3 fucking weeks, even though the apocalypse has been over for months! How can she have more work things to discuss now than when Da'leth was actively plotting?!"
Jester: "Makes perfect sense. So what do you want to do about it?"
Essek: "i want her and Yasha to get married; i want them to have 9 children; and if they spend five minutes a day with each child that's 45 minutes! Which would be long enough for Caleb and i to grab coffee or something."
Hi! I don’t know if you’re currently taking requests- but could I request something for your Doctor who series? Maybe involving rose and 10? I have a feeling rose would love teasing 10 about reader.
hey, I'm currently not taking requests so I won't make any promises but the idea's sweet so I'll keep it in mind and it might make it into a future fic

I'm currently prepping for a convention in a few weeks and between cosplay and the design work I do as con staff I don't have much time for fanfics. (Writing or reading)
I'll be back sometime at the end of April, maybe early may, depending on the post con blues situation
I don't like getting political on here, I go to the internet to escape most of that but it is getting seriously frustrating to see so much misinformation going around about the current war in Israel.
Like, when did we just forget that maybe we shouldn't talk about something we don't know.
None of these long ass, misinformed text posts are going to help anybody. They're not educating anyone, they're not changing anyone's mind in either direction and they are definitely not helping the millions of people actually being affected by this war.
Some of yall need to learn to shut your mouths when you don't know what you're talking about.
As I've gotten back into digital art I've begun revesting some old stories, one of which is about these guys.
It's actually reader insert but I might just make it an OC story , I kind of miss writing for ocs.
These are the leaders of the 28th Clone Battalion, Clone Captain Chase (He/Him), Jedi Commander Moira (She/Her) and Dispatcher (They/Them) who as of yet still doesn't have an actual name so feel free to suggest

Walking out onto the front porch of your home in the very early morning with a cup of coffee and no sleep wasn't how you preferred to start your days but it was unfortunately how some days started.
What else was unfortunate though much less excusable was the sight of your son and nephew walking up the street, bits of their costumes still peaking through their clothes.
Usually you would sit on the lovely porch swing your husband built and sip your coffee as you prepared for the continuation of an already long day but today was not usual so instead you took your mug and made your way to the front of your lawn, lying in wait for your son and his cousin, hand on your hip and brows unimpressed.
"Heyyyyyy Dad" Jon said, trying to move past you into the house but you stopped him.
"Where were you?" You asked.
"Um, Damian and I were... out" He said.
"Until when?" You asked.
"Um, now... I know it's late but we got caught up and—"
"You know our rules about patrols on school nights Jon" You told him and Damian rolled his eyes.
"I don't see why your so confident, it's a school day for you too Damian" You said.
"Tt, then I will miss one day of school. I see this as a win" He says and you smirked.
"You misunderstand. Jon goes to school here, he may be tired all day and that may be his punishment for staying out past his curfew but you still have to get back to Gotham" You said.
"I do not see your point" Damian said but Jon looked at him in horror.
"Both of you go inside, get ready for school" You told them and Jon immediately did as he was told but Damian didn't quite understand.
"Damian, just do what he says" Jon tried to warn his cousin but it was too late.
"Well Damian, after Jon gets on his bus you and I are going to take a nice long drive to Gotham where I'm going to drop you off at school, and walk you to your class, and take the time to speak to your teacher, and wave goodbye to you and all your friends" You explained and in that moment Damian understood. He was used to harsh discipline. Punishments and groundings but in that moment he realized why his brothers always did as you said. You weren't like his father or his mother or even Alfred, no, you punished in your own sick way because you learned a long time ago you weren't one for traditional discipline.
"I see why Todd does everything he says" Damian whispered to Jon and you smiled.
