3:00 - 4:30
The second last meeting.
we didnt do much we talked about basically just personal stuff with others and then a women came in. I remembered her because she was the recorder for my group for the Results Symposium. She wanted to know our opinion on how we can be healthier. Is implementing things in high school a good thing? does it work?
Well we talked about that, my opinion was similar to another member of the council, She talked about how her parents were young parents and they were on a tight budge when she was little and that the easiest thing would be to buy something from mcdonalds or something. I can relate to this because i find my mom did this alot, her being an only parent and raising to kids, it was definatley hard for her to pay rent and to have enough in the end to buy healthy food from the grocery store. It just didnt work like that so she had to resort to buying food from mcdonalds or KFC. I notice that because of my weight that could be a factor and i made a point on how we should make it more clearer when we are in elementary that eating healthy is a good thing and that it can benefit us in many ways. Now that i am in highschool the gym teachers basically teach me on how i should have every factor of the "food pyramid" haha. Being taught this helped me a great deal because eating healthier makes me more energetic and i feel way better.
We basically just wrapped up and left.
Bye!

CBE RESULTS SYMPOSIUMS!!!
Lets see. Where do i start!!! It was pretty good, ive never actually been to something like this. I had a good feeling that alot of students from high schools around the city come together and discuss how they learn! I was surprised that alot of students werent as judgmental, Because thats all of what happened to me in junior high and since i dont go to a regular sized high school it was weird to see that?
We discussed on how we could learn in different and what we can learn with, technology wise. Also we talked about how we are taught math and if we really need to go further in making it required to learn.
Personally, i think we need more teachers to be interactive with students, to be energetic about everything that they are going to teach. I find that teachers feel like they want to go against the system in a way, where they think that we should work at our own pace. Not only that but they hand you a work and expect you to do the work the right way with tools such as the textbook they provide you. Its hard when this happens because they physically don't show you how to do a equation and thats how i learn. Its hard that way because you don't exactly learn anything and you get frustrated with everything and stuff
During the groups we were put in, i really wanted to say my opinion of what i thought of the topics we touched on, but being a facilitator it was hard. overall the symposiums were a success!, at least i think that haha. To bad i am graduating and can't go to anymore because i thought they were pretty fun because of the certain things we did to make it fun. Like the skits at the end of the meetings, those were pretty funny.

To This Day By: Shane Koyczan
Friday, February 22nd, 2013
3:00 - 4:30
So today we had a couple guests from the SMART leadership stuff we did a couple meetings ago. It is different than the last one because we talk about social media and how to get certain things out into the world and to get people to notice it. we discussed SMILE (Story, Measure, Identity, Listen , Engage) and digital citizenship. Which meant things like how you put things on the internet, its like internet etiquette. To know what you are going to put out into the internet for everyone to see and to watch what you say. Which i get because alot of people don't think about things before they send it out into the world till its too late.
We then discussed about blogs, and how that can have a impact on the younger generations. I think this is a good idea because alot of younger people are spending alot of time on the internet now a days and its a efficient way to get certain things out into the word, like i said earlier.
I find that when someone wants something important to happen or to have a certain impact on certain individuals. This is how people on Facebook get so much likes about issues that are happening in the world, its all about how people can get interested and do something about this and that is what INSPIRE is for. It stands for Innovative, Newsworthy, Sincere, Personal, Interrelated, Relevant and Educational.
We then got put into our project groups again and again we talked further as to what we should talk about in our presentations. We decided to include a video called "To This Day" a slam(ish) poem by Shane Koyczan. I find that it is a very powerful poem because he talks about the experiences that he went through in grade schools and junior high. It will help with our project because it will make others think about things that happen to people who get bullied and maybe they will do something to stop it.

3:00 - 4:30
This meeting was a very laid back meeting we basically just talked about what is happening in our schools currently, and we just got back to school the following week from mid term break. We then just got into our project groups and worked further into our anti bullying project. We again talked about things we can bring to students about bullying and maybe making it a problem to bring at hand. When i think about bullying i think about things that happened to my self in junior high. I think personally that it defiantly impacts a individuals the most in junior high because you become insecure about every flaw one gets. It carry on to high school because there are still people who are still very judgmental. I think having a personal event put into this project could help students understand about bullying and how we can stop it.

3:00 - 4:30
This meeting we discussed things we previously did last meeting, with out SMART goals, This defiantly helped me in making basically short term goals. We had to put it on the D2L shelf and i find that there is a lot of support in what our goals will be with other members in this council which helps me because it helps me be more confident with my future endeavors. Then we talked about Leadership roles and non profit organizations, When we talked about this i got the idea that both leadership and non- profit organization are tied together and somehow go together. In my opinion i think that for a non-profit organization there are alot of doubts about it but when there is a good leader things can happen. Roles of a Leader would be having trust, a strong foundation, and of course cooperation between group members.
After this discussion we worked on our project groups and im in the anti bullying group. We basically just wrote down what we would like to see in a anti bullying presentation and what we can teach others about bullying and try to stop it.

Meeting #6
Friday, January 11th, 2013
3:00 - 4:30
This is the first meeting in about a month where we celebrated Christmas, new years and for me my birthday, haha. In this meeting we had people present about the SMART goal which stands for (hopefully im right) Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. We also talked about effective and functioning leadership team. Which included things like, conflict resolution, stress, time, and financial management and how we can use it in our groups we were put into. I was put into the anti-bullying group at the start of the year. Personally, there are no problems, but if there was, i definitely would know how to resolve some conflicts. In a few meetings we will be much closer to the results symposium which i am excited about and today we discussed a schedule and the possible T-shirt design for this years symposium.
Meeting #5
Thursday, December 6th, 2012
1:30 - 3:30
This meeting we had Ms. Johnson the chief superintendent for CBE, Like always we introduced ourselves. In the meeting we discussed about safe and caring schools in Calgary and what it means to be in a safe and caring learning environment effect my learning!. We talked about our opinions on if we did feel safe, and most of us did. My most interest was directed to if we should protect all students, regardless of age, gender, sexual preference and even religious belief. I think in a society today, a lot of people are criticized on there sexual preference and i really agreed with others in the class of what they had to say. Some had to say things like we should do somethings to protect these students, and i agree because alot of students that whether there sexual preference are made fun of because they like the same sex. This was about all we talked about in the meeting.

Meeting #4
Friday, November 23rd, 2012
3:00 - 4:30pm
Today we had guests from CBE Communications and had questions to answer. Like; who am i as a student leader?, what does it mean to be a student leader at the system level?, what has my interactions on this council taught me?, etc. we answered the questions briefly and just discussed them. We had another guest from "tell them from me" with Michelle Howell. The website was a survey on how our system is doing basically. Debbie let us have time to work on our projects, mine which was the anti-bullying group, in my group we discussed how we can minimize bullying in a junior high setting, because that's what seems where all the bullying starts then transitioning into highschool
We wrapped up our meeting and prepped for the chief superintendent's meeting which is next meeting.
