How do I explain to you people that interracial relationships are okay
Not every white person dating a POC is fetishizing. White people can be respectful and responsible when it comes to culture and relationships and not everyone has bad intentions.
Asian people can date Black people without you saying shit like “your kids will be so pretty” they’re not dating for pretty kids. They’re dating bc they like each other.
Someone can dress their partner in clothing from their culture if they want. Someone can take their partner to cultural events if they want.
People in relationships can share cultures, experiences and love without it being toxic or skin deep.
Their partner isn’t culturally appropriating. Their partner is being shown the ultimate form of love, bc their partner trusts them and loves them enough to share their history and heritage.
Yeah, dating someone from your culture is nice bc you automatically have similar experiences. But you’re not limited to dating people with the same experiences. Loving someone is sharing and growing and being together.
Interracial relationships aren’t always toxic, and some of y’all need to stop projecting onto other people.

Every now and then this little card falls out the back of my journal (where it will live until I decide what to do with it), and every time I'm like yes, thank you, I will meet the pygmy shrew again. and I am delighted to do so! i also think many people on Tumblr would like to meet it too
These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.
While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.
Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.
We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!
by 2026 the average tumblr post about gender and interests will be like ‘dont ask me why but having a job is sooo boycore and cooking at home is so girlcore’

I’m sorry for adding directly to a post but I went to a wedding once where the groom’s name was Loren and the bride’s name was Lauren and at the end the officiant was all “introducing Loren [surname] and Lauren [surname], husband and wife” and the entire assembled lost it
also sorry for adding on but at my high school there was a Dominic and a Dominique who were dating and everyone just called them “Dom and Dommer” which is honestly the funniest shit ever
I know a woman with 2 first names, whose last name growing up was Chapman. She married a man whose last name was Chapman. So her name is Something Someone Chapman Chapman.
not to be all "these two words will change your life" or whatever, but I promise you, programming in "good catch!" as your response to people correcting you/pointing out errors or whatever removes so much friction from interactions, and comes with a delightful happy meal toy of "not hating yourself so much for making mistakes"
I had a high school science teacher who would say "if you admit you're wrong and change your mind..." and the whole class would respond back "... you aren't wrong anymore!"
And when a kid would assert something incorrect In class, he wouldn't tell them they were wrong, he would help lead them to the right answer and then when they admitted/ accepted the new information, he'd say "now we're both right! Nice work!"
For a bunch of gifted kids whose identity and reputation often was staked on knowing more than most people, it was a great safety valve. No shame in making a mistake, because if you accept it you have learned! Now you are smarter! It always made me feel better.
this is why, when someone tells me "there are only two sexes, it's basic biology!" my favorite response is to ask "what, you never made it to advanced biology?" like don't load the gun and then hand it to me lmao
You reblogged this from me, and I’m doing this new policy where, when people announce their intention of showing their asses, I ask them if they’re sure. Sure of your ground here? Anything you want to rephrase? Maybe reread?
I’ve been doing this privately, but you seem like your shoulders are broad. Are you sure about this? Are you sure of your ground here? You want to go ahead and reread the graph you are reacting to, make sure you understood it correctly? Want to gather any information first? Reread anything? Reflect upon what you’re trying to accomplish? Reconsider any life choices or ideology? Take a little break, run around the block, and see if you still stand by your statement. No shame in backing down.
Apologies for those hoping for a beatdown. The trick here is that this was it.
You’ll note they didn’t come back - although when someone else wanted to talk about intersex conditions, bees, and lizards, they responded to them, saying “intersex is not a sex” and “humans are not bees and lizards.” The other person brought up keywords that they could reply to like a bot. This is an example of how TERFs just repeat sentences.
In a back-and-forth conversation in which a TERF says “Show me an example of having multiple mating types in biology” and someone replies “here are some examples of mating types in biology” - the TERF genuinely believes that a response to that is “humans aren’t bees and lizards.” And they believe that response “wins.”
You’ll note that this sentence does not match the question and answer. They asked a question and you answered it; now they announce a completely different statement, in the tone of a “gotcha”. The fact that this sentence doesn’t match the question and answer is irrelevant! because they perceive conversations like chatbots, as scripted encounters, with the “winner” being the person who repeats a sentence that the TERF has decided is a “winning sentence.”
They can’t go off-script. They can only do scripts. They can’t even answer the question “are you sure?”
They were already beaten down, of course, I was just showing off.
You’re right of course, but Jesus Christ that’s bleak. I was going to say that they’re parroting phrases but a(n African Grey) parrot has more understanding of how to use language. Even a goddamn chatbot can switch it up more than that. It’s like a reverse Turing test, and they’ve done it to themselves. They deserve better than this - their parents, their children, humanity as a whole, the raw biomass that composes them deserves better than this intentional termination of thought.
Are we not the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape, to quote (GNU) Sir Terry Pratchett? What then are we to do with this self-satisfied algal bloom of a psyche?
What to do? Well, TERF politics are fear-based politics. People are attracted to the ideology because they’re afraid, and it offers a framework and solutions for this fear. The existence of trans people suggests a kind of uncertainty; TERFs offer reassurance, a feeling of power and control, and a defined population of people that are deemed acceptable to bully. Membership is pretty easy, and the community is welcoming. To gain acceptance and praise from them, you just have to repeat sentences.
The usual solutions for fear-based politics are things like:
1. Education - teaching people about the scary thing so it isn’t scary. A lot of fear is “fear of the unknown.”
2. Exposure - things like “representation in media,” Pride, and higher numbers of trans people being “out” in public increase the visibility of the trans community. This is an older-fashioned approach, a sort of “educational cartoon from the 1990s” one. It remains tremendously useful for children, or new topics.
3. Common ground - education and exposure help find common ground, which is VERY effective for reducing fear. “We’re here, we’re queer, we’re just like you,” is an example of the LGBT movement’s push for civil rights through an appeal to shared humanity. Common ground is actually one of the most effective ways of reducing hate and fear, because it shows that hate and fear are deliberate choices.
4. Celebrating difference, diversity and change - a more recent approach. “things are different - so what?” This is more resilient than things like “representation.” Rather than bothering with justifying how/why people might be different, it points out that populations are diverse, that there are material benefits in diverse populations, and material harms in pretending that populations aren’t diverse, and therefore that it is stupid to try to stop populations from being diverse. “You might be afraid of snakes, but they’re necessary for the ecosystem, so your fear isn’t relevant” is an example of this.
So that’s 4 things that are normally done to address fear-based politics.
As a direct response, in the examples of TERFs, their movement includes the following:
1. Resistance to education. As you can see in chatbot responses, TERFs simply decide that they know everything, and they don’t need to learn or engage with anything - they just repeat sentences regardless of whether they’re relevant. They also teach each other that education is unnecessary, suspicious, and only worth bothering with if you are a weak-minded queer person. Slogans and fear are sufficient replacement, and this is part of the attraction, as well as an inbuilt mechanism that prevents losing people. people won’t leave if they just refuse to hear reasons why they should leave.
2. Attacking exposure - they do this in two ways to discourage trans people and movements from becoming acceptable or powerful. The most obvious one is subjecting trans people to scrutiny, bullying, and attack, keeping them quiet and in the closet. Other targets include “pride merchandise,” etc.
3. Denying shared humanity - this is the one that I would call overtly hateful ideology, and why TERF ideology is genuinely bad for people. This is literally the foundation of evil.
4. Denying the material benefits of difference - they don’t do this as much at the moment, because they don’t have much experience with argument 4, but they’ll almost certainly just do what they do for 2. An even easier thing is to just try to get rid of operational diversity. Examples include the UK Supreme Court ruling and the US government dismantling DEI.
All of which is why I personally like to do a lot of argument 5:
5. Behave better.
You really never see a TERF behaving very well. They don’t show good judgment, good manners, or even make good jokes. They aren’t brave, polite, charming, or even conversationally complicated. Their manners are very bad, and they don’t give the impression of people who CARE about manners.
The TERF framework rarely contributes new content, novel ideas, or interesting insights. They kind of just do four things - repeat sentences, bully targets, attack policy, resist change - in the same way. Talking to one TERF is necessarily just like talking to another TERF - that’s the point, they all want to be the same kind of chatbot. (By contrast, when you talk to me, my responses might be weird or wrong or annoying, but by GOD it’s at least different. At least it’s a human generating responses based on their own experience, evidence, personality, and connections. At least I make jokes.)
They aren’t pleasant. They aren’t attractive. They don’t seem happy. They are rude and mean.
They don’t make jokes or have funny clever things to say - and when they try, they’re mean and not funny to anyone else.
A lot of the time, you don’t HAVE to do anything. You just have to provide a contrast.
Eventually, if played hard and cleverly enough, it’ll erode support for TERFs because their ideology has no way to resist. They don’t create things or interact nicely or learn stuff, therefore they have nothing to offer the instant it isn’t a bullying interaction.
It isn’t everything, but they have no defence and it’s funny
you can honestly be having the worst day of your life, open tumblr and there's your long time mutual who has recently gotten really into toy story yaoi just posting away

I no longer give a fuck whether any of the accusations against Jason Arday were true. We all know that a white man accused of plagiarism in Arday's place, no matter how credibly, would've received one story, maybe two, and then the news cycle would have moved on to literally anything else with more relevance.
But the press was ecstatic for a chance to discredit EDI (always referred to as DEI, because we all know who half these pieces of shit are getting their cues from too), and every single Black person in academia for being a woke diversity hire. The news cycle has been stuck for a ridiculously long time on the story of one (1!) man perhaps having dodgy credentials and academic history as a chance to put Black people aiming for any kind of proficiency and success in their fucking place. The case was brought to light by a self-professed race realist (read: outright racist) who believes Black people are genetically inferior, and this motive, and the implications of his accusations, were hardly questioned (and let's not act like this wasn't because a huge number of these reporters absolutely fucking AGREED, because racism in this country is rife and barely challenged, no matter how inaccurate and no matter how vile). No matter how accurate any of Cofnas' claims, we know why he was making them. We KNOW why.
Black people and other racial minorities in the UK are endlessly scrutinised, presumed incompetent, accused at every turn, and now a man is dead. He has been hounded and harrassed and made a scapegoat by a whole nation of journalists and now he's fucking dead. And not one of these ghoulish newspapers is ever going to admit to the blood on their hands.
We know what happens to a white man accused of plagiarism at the university of Cambridge because it happened. May I present a selection of articles about William O’Reilly who still works at the university.
A new investigation describes Trinity Hall as “full of secrets”, in which a “close-knit group of tutors” mishandled multiple sexual assault
William O'Reilly claims the allegations form part of a homophobic bullying campaign
