it was a stroke of genius to give James T Kirk a bitchy flip phone in the 60's, truly amazing to watch him slam it shut like a pissed off socialite girl in 2000's teen shows
I sat behind the same girl in class all year and I was painfully jealous of her beautiful curly hair and I assumed she had just figured out some hair routine I didn't know, or had more time in the mornings than me, or was somehow more disciplined or just lucky. And then my friend talked to her one day and found out she gets 500$ perms and highlights 3 times a year. The answer was literally just money. The same friend found out that most of our classmates who I thought were just naturally smarter than me went to private highschools that cost 25k a year.
This is all a metaphor to say that there will be times when you feel like other people understand something that you don't, or have some ability that you don't, or are better than you in some way because they've accomplished something you can't. And it's going to turn out that they're just rich and they spent thousands of dollars to make that happen. You are not bad, you are not broken, the system is just fucked.
"We need trilllions to replace all workers" is quite the ask for an industry that has no profits.
If you are attracted to a girl it's important to show her sinister artifacts and relics

I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things
my coworker announces that he's off to the dentist. someone reacts with a tooth emoji. is this a statement of dentist solidarity? a wish for my coworker to return with more (or fewer?) teeth than he set out with? simple word association? who can say
Friend of mine calls it active listening. Ah yes we are speaking of tooths. I understand and respond. Here it a tooth image. I have heard you.
love the word fruitless. arguing with you is like if there was no apples involved whatsoever
you're bountiless you stupid bitch
@inneskeeper
...I want to refute this but no, I....yeah
[captions]
Person on screen: needs a couple pats of butter, a splash of olive oil, simmered on low with a bay leaf and a cinnamon stick. What?! You never seen a boy who knows his way around the kitchen?
Yeah my mom always wanted a little girl but she got stuck with me instead. That wasn’t gonna stop her though so all my friends were opening up nerf guns and bmx bikes on their birthday, I was getting crockpots.
(scene changes to the person dressed in a nice black suit jacket, bright pink dress shirt, and black tie) Yeah laugh it up! Take a picture while you’re at it 'cause this is the last time you’ll ever see me in a suit! How do boys wear these things??
(scene changes to the person dressed in the same shirt and tie with no jacket and the shirt cuffs unbuttoned and rolled up, with purple nail polish on their nails) No, I don’t know how to fight. I was only ever taught how to deescalate situations with healthy communication and emotional validation.
for the lovely lovely deafies out there who want to get involved in direct action you absolutely 100% cannot ever bring a hearing aid or cochlear implant with bluetooth to any direct action. bluetooth devices all carry a unique signal that can be used to identify you if it's picked up at a direct action. go with a [more] hearing buddy and communicate in sign language. if you don't mutually know a sign language then come up with gestures. do not risk your freedom because you want to have your hearing aid/cochlear implant at the action. it's not worth it.
flock cameras are also now tracking bluetooth device signatures when you pass them. if you drive past a flock camera with your bluetooth-enabled hearing aid or cochlear implant, the flock camera knows you passed through
Wait I just realized this is gonna apply to all cgms and most if not all insulin pumps. They’re all Bluetooth devices, it’s essential to how they work
I did not think it possible, but I have just developed even more hatred, derision, and contempt for the perpetual surveillance state.
#surely theres a way to hack/disable that function???#this fucking sucks my god
most newer hearing aids and cochlear implants require bluetooth to adjust them + many newer FM systems connect via bluetooth + many have bluetooth features that go beyond just listening to audio from your phone (and that's if you set aside the inconvenience that you can't use hearing aids and earbuds/headphones at the same time so disabling bluetooth would mean never listening to music on the bus or train)
Like I said with cgms (continuous glucose monitors) and insulin pumps, Bluetooth is essential to how they work.
With CGMs, Bluetooth is how you get the data from the cannula under your skin to an actual display (phone, pump, separate receiver) so you can do anything with it; there is no functionality with Bluetooth.
With insulin pumps, I don’t know the exact proportions of tubed/tubeless in use pumps, but tubeless are in major if not the majority use, and they don’t have displays/controls on the pump itself, but with your phone or a separate receiver, which only function via Bluetooth. Tubed pumps are technically functional without Bluetooth, but ideally you want them integrated with your cgm bc this drastically increases quality of life/care, and once again you can only do this with Bluetooth.
If you’re a tubed pump without a cgm, i guess you could try to hack it, but I can’t envision that not voiding the warranty, which can be medically precarious for reasons not really relevant here. There are plenty of people adventurous enough to do warranty voiding things to their pump, but it’s not really worth anything without a cgm
There’s not really a point to diabetes tech without Bluetooth I’m afraid
Powerchairs and power assist are also Bluetooth compatible.
It took Sydnee McElroy beating this moral into me in the Sawbones episode about tear gas, but disabled people are actively disenfranchised in the United States because we do NOT have the right to assemble. When the police get the batons out, people with mobility aids can't run. When the police throw out tear gas, people with asthma can die. If you're deaf or have technology in you, you can be tracked. It's another example about how supposedly inalienable human rights don't apply disabled people.

people talking about this castle is haunted or whatever while i’ve been here 500 years and haven’t seen shit
Oh cool so the CDC is just doing a media blitz to lie the groundwork for weed becoming illegal again in many places huh okay
Treating 2026 CDC reports as anything but heavily political and incredibly biased is genuinely ridiculous. Why would you just believe them? Are you not paying attention?
I had to go to the hospital because I ingested a fuck ton of mould spores from some bread I didn't realize went off and then couldn't eat anything for a week. Like I was taking tiny sips of clear water and my body would instantly or within 5 minutes reject it.
I have never had these problems, as a chronic cannabis user, I literally ingested mould that was growing in my guts…..
But the doctors ALL blamed it on my cannabis use.
I got pamphlets and guides on how to curb my 'addiction', and they stressed real hard it doesn't matter if I used it for medical reasons, if I wanted it at all when I wasn't on it, it must mean I am addicted and need to stop.
I am 100% certain that my INGESTING MOULD issue was written down as "Cannabis Emesis Syndrome" and would get wrapped up in the data to suggest that emergency room visits among cannabis users for cannabis use is becoming higher.
Like... it's fucking biased reporting that is going to fuck a lot of us over.
Despite having an active infection, not having even used cannabis in a month or two because I was actively recovering from a surgery, I was told that it was likely CES (even though all the pamphlets they gave me said CES would ease if you didn't use again "for a few days to a week"). And my only advice when I was discharged (after staying the night, being flooded with antibiotics and hydrated via salin drip), was to cut out the cannabis. I ingested a fuck ton of mould spores that made me sick, but because I also am a chronic cannabis user because of my debilitating nerve pain and PTSD, it will have been listed in the records as CES because that is what the doctors decided to focus on. Because it's the big new scary thing.
Fuck, the surgery I was talking about before that I was recovering from was gallbladder removal - and before that my own doctor tried to blame CES for what was in fact a very inflamed gallbladder. Once I got over the rough recovery from that, the symptoms my doctor wanted to associate with CES *went away* because it wasn't CES it was an actively inflamed gallbladder that was causing the problems.
Like, people talk about fad health trends in pop culture readily enough but I think we should also turn this focus towards doctors themselves because holy shit this was a fringe theory that everyone latched on to and started reporting cases of - regardless of whether or not they fit the description.
And like, might CES be an actual thing? Sure. But it is as prevalent as everyone is freaking out over? I absolutely fucking doubt it based on my own experiences.
so fun fact i have fairly severe MCAS, and had probably the worst episode of my life this february. we're talking month-long medical leave, urgent care frequent flier, ER on super bowl sunday bad.
this meant for the first time in a long time i could not stomach marijuana (i don't smoke/vape because i have asthma and value my lungs) as a frequent medicinal user. cause y'know. i have MCAS and chronic pain/nausea/etc and weed helps.
i also have health anxiety and was worried that the increased chronic symptoms & more frequent allergic reactions could be linked to weed, since it was one of the most consistent parts of my diet and i've heard about CES. i also didn't want ER/UC doctors to dismiss symptoms (especially fatigue/brain fog) as being associated w cannabis use even though all my usual doctors know about it, so... i stopped for a while.
even as my other symptoms improved, i was SO nauseous and everything i ate was making me sick. when the list of foods i could eat got down to rice, water, and salt and i was too nauseous to have any appetite, i caved and got a vape.
not only did it help w my immediate nausea, the number of reactions i was having a day went down steadily. i could keep food down, and i was slowly able to introduce foods back into my diet. when i told my GP about it, she was like "yep makes sense keep having weed" because i have the best doctor in the world (i am so lucky)
CES probably exists because human bodies are weird and all different from each other and the dose makes the poison, yknow? but cannabis IS medicinal. most people probably won't benefit from daily marijuana use, but some of us do! because it's MEDICINAL.
some people need to take their meds everyday. those of us who do shouldn't have to deal with every doctor ever assuming that symptoms are actually a side effect of a crucial medical tool 🤷♀️
Need to remember to talk about Fabian and being biracial (in the fantasy people way! I assume our concept of it is not as much of a thing in Spyre if at all, though it's delightful that he's both kinds) and discovering a part of yourself well into being a teenager from extended family you're meeting for the first because one of your parents was just kinda neglectful and you don't live in a place where you could've learned about your culture (or just. Your body.) from anyone but your parent, really, and then that's kinda crazy. I'll do it sometime I swear. Like, it's crazy how real Fabian is to me specifically. Everything about him just like me fr. (Except for the parts that aren't like me at all, of course.)
playing stupid games but im really bad at them so im not even winning the stupid prizes

Hey guys you should totally get into this thing i like. Yeah it's mid at best. It also aged poorly. You'll get nothing out of it at all. You'll like the idea of it more than the actual thing. But at least only takes half your natural lifespan to finish it
