I was diagnosed with autism in my 30s, it shouldn't have come as a surprise and yet no one ever considered it until I considered it, and then I went to get expensively assessed and they were like yeah congrats you're autistic, enjoy.
So I thought about which deity to connect with over this, and I know the true answer is "anyone you want" but my first instinct was Hephaestus because he's disabled too, he gets it, right? But while he's someone I already worshipped regularly, that particular connection didn't really happen the way I was hoping it would. (For example I was also diagnosed with something uterus-y, reached out to Rhea and she's been a great comfort, it just felt right.)
Obviously there's not a "god of autism" and maybe I shouldn't even be looking at it from that angle, but still. There are so many aspects to it, I don't really know what I'm seeking.
I sing of Artemis, whose shafts are of gold, who cheers on the hounds, the pure maiden, shooter of stags, who delights in archery, own sister to Apollo with the golden sword. Over the shadowy hills and windy peaks she draws her golden bow, rejoicing in the chase, and sends out grievous shafts. The tops of the high mountains tremble and the tangled wood echoes awesomely with the outcry of beasts: earth quakes and the sea also where fishes shoal. But the goddess with a bold heart turns every way destroying the race of wild beasts: and when she is satisfied and has cheered her heart, this huntress who delights in arrows slackens her supple bow and goes to the great house of her dear brother Phoebus Apollo, to the rich land of Delphi, there to order the lovely dance of the Muses and Graces. There she hangs up her curved bow and her arrows, and heads and leads the dances, gracefully arrayed, while all they utter their heavenly voice, singing how neat-ankled Leto bare children supreme among the immortals both in thought and in deed.
Homeric hymn to Artemis.
Earlier this week I saw a big fluffy cat in a neighbour's front yard. The next day I saw a wanted poster for a big fluffy cat. I didn't remember that I had seen one like that until later. Instead of putting their phone number or something they used a popular platform for missing pets. I tried to navigate their website but the only option I get is "this pet is currently in my possession, come pick it up", there's nothing for "I think I might have see it but it was two days ago and it didn't look exactly like the photo so I'm really not sure" and I don't know what to do. I looked at local missing pets Facebook groups to see if his family posted there but no luck. It's been several days and I feel so guilty. If my dog went missing I'd hate to think that someone could have spotted her and just didn't do anything about it. I hope he's okay.

If you’re finding it difficult to carve out a practice for yourself, you’re just having a normal response. We were never supposed to do this. Polytheism is not an orthodoxy that we can divert to based on dogma and texts. It’s an orthopraxy, the likes of which were always intended to be practiced by the community, the polis, with the guidance of elders and experts. Because of the march of time bringing forced Christianization, colonization, and capitalism enforcing rugged individualism, we’ve been left with little choice but to carve a tiny piece for ourselves.
We’re doing fantastic, considering we’re rebuilding from the scraps and ruins of long gone empires.
To all the haters;
✨🫶🏻Kill them with kindness✨💗
With haters i litteraly mean all haters; terfs, terfhaters, racists, racist haters, misogynists, misogynist haters, misandrists, misandrist haters, misanthropists, misanthropist haters. People who spread hate(speech) against any group of people or other beings.
You don't owe kindness to people who literally want you dead.
"If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them." - Karl R. Popper
Living with an alcoholic is fucking exhausting. Yeah I know, no one chooses to be an addict, I get it, but at some point, after decades of refusing offered help and insisting there's no problem, that's on you. You are harming people. You are causing constant, unceasing stress and anxiety. You're making everyone walk on eggshells around you lest they say the wrong word that sets you off again. I have nothing left. I hope one of us dies soon. I just want peace.
Tarot Alternatives
I just saw a post by someone asking for tarot alternatives for deity communication as they weren't able to purchase/own a deck and now I can't find it anymore, so I thought I'll just make a post, maybe it's useful to someone out there.
There are of course methods like bibliomancy and shufflemancy, but assuming you want something with actual tarot vibes, here are a few options.
Tarot apps. Labyrinthos is by far the best, it also has a pretty ambiguous looking app icon that doesn't mention tarot.
If you can own a deck but you can't buy a deck: print your own! There are some here and here and here, or just google free printable tarot deck.
Instead of printing you could also draw, paint, stamp or collage your own cards.
Playing cards. There are guides online specifically for divination with playing cards, or you could just use them like the minor arcana. You can also cutomise them.
Runes or the Greek alphabet oracle. I DIY'd myself one of those out of air dry clay. You can also paint it on little pebbles, pieces of wood, or simply paper.

Quick reminder for both new pagans and experienced pagans: it's normal to not always feel a deity's presence, and it's normal even if you never feel their presence. You're not doing anything wrong.
I love re-reading myths, or reading different versions of myths. Everytime there's something I have completely forgotten like Hebe's dad being lettuce or that time Apollo had to do community service.
When I find myself in times of mythic literalism, Robert Graves comes to me, speaking words of wisdom:
[Apollo's] pursuit of Daphne the Mountain-nymph, daughter of the river Peneius, and priestess of Mother Earth, refers apparently to the Hellenic capture of Tempe, where the goddess Daphoene (‘bloody one’) was worshipped by a college of orgiastic laurel-chewing Maenads
...
The myth of Demeter and Poseidon records a Hellenic invasion of Arcadia.
...
Apollo’s seduction of Dryope on Oeta perhaps records the local supersession of an oak cult by a cult of Apollo, to whom the poplar was sacred (see 42. d); as does his seduction of Aria
Sooooooo, I forgot to celebrate Thargelia this year, so I'm going to celebrate it late instead.
The reason I randomly am mentioning this is because I don't think you should be ashamed of yourself for missing a festival celebration or celebrating late. In the modern age, the yearly calendar isn't structured around the worship of ancient deities, as it used to be in ancient times. A lot of the time, festival celebrations fall on days when we have other obligations, such as work, appointments, or important errands.
I feel that the gods understand and acknowledge this. While I obviously can't say how they specifically feel, I personally believe that they aren't going to be beside themselves for missing a celebration or celebrating later than anticipated. Life happens, and especially in this day and age, it's very difficult to celebrate things that don't fall in line with a Christian-accommodating calendar.
It's ok if you miss things. You're trying your best, and that's what honestly matters, in my opinion. It's ok to miss the date, apologize, and figure something else out. You can always try again later or even next year if you want to.
Y’all, the Attic calendar was really a suggestion. Any day is a good day to show your deities love, friends!
